Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are the main engine behind most discrete control systems in many industries.
Programmable logic control or PLC is the most common is used industrial automation technique in the world.
It is universally applied for factory automation, process control and manufacturing systems.
This session aim to introduce the principles of operations, maintenance techniques , basic troubleshooting
techniques and through understanding of overall machine design concepts using PLCs. Participants will have hands
on experience with PLC and carry out demo projects on live PLCs as well as simulators. The training will be
complemented by TTI workshops, discussion on industry best practices. Participant will be issued a corticated at the
end of the training.

Prerequisites
To successfully complete this course, students are
required to demonstrate a general knowledge of
electricity and electronics. Familiarity with the use
of electrical measuring tools is helpful, but is not
required
Who Should Attend
Individuals new to the control of AC and DC
motors using drives who need to gain a
fundamental understanding of motor and drive
concepts before they learn to program, maintain,
and/ or troubleshoot AC and DC drives should
attend this course.
OBJECTIVE
Upon completion of this course you should be able to :
This course is a skill- building course that provides students with a basic understanding of AC and DC motor and
drive concepts and terminology. At the completion of this course, students will have the necessary fundamental
knowledge and skills required to attend other automation AC and DC Drive courses.
During class, students will gain the hands on skills required to build a miniature DC motor and investigate how a
variable speed drive controls the speed and direction of an attached motor. Students will also become familiar with
the drive’s Human interface module(HMI) , which allows programmers, maintainers, and troubleshooters access to
information stored within the drive.
This course will provide students with a broad- based set of skills and knowledge that apply to AC and DC motors and
drives. Although this course will not give students all the skills needed to program, maintain, or troubleshoot and AC or
DC drive, it will prepare them for the automation courses that emphasize those skills

  • 12. Drives Prerequisites To successfully complete this course, students are required to demonstrate a general knowledge of electricity and electronics. Familiarity with the use of electrical measuring tools is helpful, but is not required Who Should Attend Individuals new to the control of AC and DC motors using drives who need to gain a fundamental understanding of motor and drive concepts before they learn to program, maintain, and/ or troubleshoot AC and DC drives should attend this course.
  • 13. OBJECTIVE Upon completion of this course you should be able to : This course is a skill- building course that provides students with a basic understanding of AC and DC motor and drive concepts and terminology. At the completion of this course, students will have the necessary fundamental knowledge and skills required to attend other automation AC and DC Drive courses. During class, students will gain the hands on skills required to build a miniature DC motor and investigate how a variable speed drive controls the speed and direction of an attached motor. Students will also become familiar with the drive’s Human interface module(HMI) , which allows programmers, maintainers, and troubleshooters access to information stored within the drive. This course will provide students with a broad- based set of skills and knowledge that apply to AC and DC motors and drives. Although this course will not give students all the skills needed to program, maintain, or troubleshoot and AC or DC drive, it will prepare them for the automation courses that emphasize those skills
