5th LiCEA newsletter
1. Life Cycle based Energy Audit
5th issue of newsletter
October 2014
The project is implemented through the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme co-financed by the ERDF
2. Dear readers,
we are glad to provide you with our autumn version of LiCEA newsletter
where you can find information traditionally about the last development of LiCEA tool.
We are finishing with the final version that will be ready for scalable use. Released date
has been provisionally set and you can find it inside of this issue.
For the first time, we prepared an overview of the very first audits in each of 5
involved countries as well as organization of LiCEA seminars/webinars for
regional/national energy agencies to teach them how to use LiCEA tools at maximum.
LiCEA partners met personally for the fifth time in Bratislava with purpose to
discuss further steps leading to successful realization of LiCEA audits. More
information and photos expressing the atmosphere are available in this newsletter as
well. The photo showing Bratislava´s main square evokes a present success of
performed audits.
Last but not least you can get familiar with Austrian partner (Energy Agency
of Regions) who is presented at a glance.
We hope you will enjoy this penultimate newsletter. The last 6th issue will be
released in December and we can already disclose last issue will be a kind of special.

include the following modifications:
ü updated database of materials, processes, transports, boilers, energy vectors and
waste for each district (specific for each tool);
ü new end of life calculation that consider also new materials (organic waste, copper,
steel);
ü calculation correction;
ü modification in lighting improvement actions;
ü modification in electric motors improvement actions (introduction of inverters and

ü modification in air compressors;
ü new improvement actions: heat recovery, CHP, refrigeration (heat pumps), custom,
combination of measures;
ü new report for the SMEs.
The current version of the tools is optimized both for office 2007 and 2011.
The last optimization will be a full reverse engineering to transform the tools to open
office versions, by the end of October.

11. During September and November 2014, the LiCEA tool was applied for the first
time in Poland, to perform five audits in SMEs and gather feedback for further
improvements and adaptations in the tool.
The audited SMEs were:
· 1 bakery from the Silesia region
· 2 large retail stores in Wielkopolska
· 2 tourist resorts of northern Poland
The energy audits provided a lot of information concerning energy efficiency to
the SMEs and gave the project team a large amount of input for the tool evaluation. The
life cycle analysis did not go as well as it was expected, especially in the holiday resorts, but
the overall results were positive. The audit recommendations are going to be
implemented soon and the SME owners are looking forward to the future energy savings.
