This document contains letters from students in Miss Schoenwetter's 5th grade class describing their feelings on the first day of school and activities they participated in over the summer. Many students express excitement about the school year and seeing their friends again. Activities described include trips to beaches, camps, amusement parks, and visiting family. 186. “During this summer I went to a few birthday parties and I drove seven hours to North Carolina at Sunset Beach. I went there for a week to see all of my cousins and my baby cousin.”~Jack~

187. “This summer I went to camp at Flint Hill and I had a lot of fun. We went to the zoo, water mine and Madison High School. I feel less scared than last year. I feel alright on the first day.”~Alexandra~

192. “This is my first year at Marshall Road Elementary School. I’m looking forward to having a fun year. I hope to make lots of friends. This summer I went to my dad’s house, my step mom is having a baby girl. I’m so excited, but I was hoping for a brother.”~Christian~

205. “I am really excited to be in your class this year! I went to Niagara Falls and I started learning Karate, but I am only a white belt. I look forward to the games and all the interesting, fun, and different things this year in fifth grade. I can’t wait to learn all the new things in school!!”~Priyanka~

206. Dear Hip-Hoppers~I have had such a wonderful year with each and every one of you. You have made this year such a blast– I just have LOVED coming to work! I cannot believe the year is over and I have to say goodbye. I will never forget any of you, I hope you will stay in touch and visit me next year! You have all grown to be the rulers of the school– SIXTH GRADERS!!!!
