The document discusses trends in the global nylon textile filament market. It notes that global nylon textile filament consumption is forecast to remain above 1.5 million metric tons annually over the next few years. Most consumption will remain centered in Asia, especially China, though rising costs may lead to more production in other Asian countries. Sustainability is a growing concern, and nylon lags other fibers in perceptions of environmental performance; however, companies are working to improve recycling and communicate sustainability efforts like RadiciGroup's focus on balancing energy needs with performance.
Thomas Friedman discusses how ten "flatteners" are making the world more interconnected and globalized. The flatteners include the fall of the Berlin Wall, the rise of personal computers and the Internet, outsourcing, offshoring, and in-forming. When combined, these flatteners have created a new global platform for collaboration without regard to distance. However, there was a lag between these technological changes and their widespread impact as organizations, processes, and facilities needed to be redesigned. Now a new playing field has emerged for horizontal collaboration on a global scale.
The document discusses gas pressure and the kinetic model used to explain it. It begins by defining key terms like pressure and listing learning objectives about pressure in gases. It then provides examples of gas-filled cylinders with pistons at different volumes and pressures, asking students to analyze changes. The kinetic model is then explained, noting that gas pressure results from particle collisions with container walls. Several factors that determine gas pressure are identified, including particle mass, number of collisions, and gas properties like volume and temperature.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
