2. The Children's Court
is a specialist court
to deal with cases
involving children.
Juveniles are 10-
17yo
People aged up to
21 may still appear
in Children’s Court, if
they were under 18
when the crime was
committed.
3. The Children’s Court deals with everything but
the most serious of crimes:
criminal cases
applications for apprehended violence orders
applications for compulsory schooling orders, and
cases involving the care and protection of
children.
Children’s Court is closed – proceedings aren’t
public.
Intended to be flexible; less formal than adult
court
Aims to rehabilitate children.
