This document provides a 5 minute introduction to Case Management and Modeling Notation (CMMN). It describes case management as business processes where the sequence of activities is not well-defined, depends on evolving circumstances and ad hoc decisions by knowledge workers. CMMN offers a common notation for modeling cases and case management work patterns through elements like stages, tasks, events, and a case file. It provides flexibility over prescriptive processes by enabling planning of activities at runtime based on events, conditions, and actions.
