Editor's Notes

  • #5 Patients struggle to stay covered and look ‘normal’ during medical treatment. They resort to wearing the undignified and uncomfortable hospital gown. Or.....they depend on strangers/nursing staff to assist them getting in and out of their own clothes. This results in lower self-esteem, less desire to move about or have visitors, and thus a slower recovery. Valuable nursing time is spent dressing and undressing patients. Patients feel: undignified dependent on others trapped isolated a lack of control low self-esteem low morale  thus a slower recovery. Nurses spend valuable time dressing & undressing patients.
