Execute your plans
with the 4DX method
In these slides we’ll understand how to apply the 4
disciplines.
References & further reading material are
are compiled in the final slide.
Often the process of identifying WIGs will help you
find what matters most!
Remember if you have more than 3 priorities you
don’t have any at all.
Frame the WIGs as “go from X to Y by certain date”
Example
Improve fitness by going from 75Kgs to 70Kgs by
May 2020
In the previous example the goal metric - weight is a
lag metric. This is something you measure ‘after’.
Identify key activities that if executed systematically
will help you progress on your goals. Activities that
you have reasonable control over.
In our example goal
You could decide to spend 30 mins a day to work out.
Also you could measure your daily calorie intake &
decide to stay under your limits.
Imagine a sport with no scoring. You’d have no idea
who is winning or how many to win.
A visible scorecard is needed to keep us on track.
For our example
You could print out a calendar for the month and for
each day that you worked out tick the day’s box.
Mobile apps can also be used. The main idea is to
have a very visible scorecard.
Now that you have the system in place – decide on
how often will you review progress and course
correct.
Build the ritual of review and reflection. Pick a
frequency and make-it-happen!
