This document discusses the need for a multi-cloud storage API that allows access to multiple cloud storage services through a single interface. It presents several existing options for multi-cloud APIs, including Zcloud, JClouds, CloudLoop, SimpleCloud, and SMEStorage, that variously support Amazon S3, Google, Rackspace, and other cloud storage providers through a common API. A multi-cloud API enables importing and exporting data between clouds, easily changing cloud providers based on factors like price or availability, syncing data across clouds, and using multiple clouds for high availability of data.
