- #2 Good morning/afternoon ladies and gentlemen. This presentations seeks to highlight some of the natural, historical, and cultural assets of Knott County. The itinerary that I will explore, is just one of the numerous itinerary possibilities that can be prepared for/by tourists of different demographics, for adventure tourism in Knott County, KY. 36 hours is what most travelers can afford to spend in a small rural community because of the travel involved and the work or school commitments that can only allow them a weekend’s break. This is the reason I am using this 36 hours model.
- #3 As you can see from this picture of us caving, we are adventure tourists who will jump at any opportunities that present an opportunity for an adrenaline rush. We, however, do that with caution.
- #4 Travel party consists of four friends: David Jonathan, So Ota, Lucio Ixcoy, and Job Limo. Time of travel is mid-May, 2017. Household income is low because we all just graduated from college in this same month, May 2017, and the income has been only the student labor service earnings. Total trip length is 42 hours; 36 hours spent in Knott County plus 6 hours drive to and from Berea, KY. First stop of the trip will be at the Appalachian Artisan Center in Hindman. The trip will conclude with dinner at the Appalachian Artisan Center Café, 36 hours after the start.
- #5 Having been very close friends since freshman year, we decided to take a weekend vacation after graduating. This is for us to be together one last time before we all set out in our different paths, probably not to meet again for a long while. We wanted a vacation spot that would offer an experience that covers most, if not all, of our passions and give us fond memories.

Call the different destinations and get more information about services, availability of special offers/discounts for group reservations, and finally make reservations.
- #7 Social media, especially TripAdvisor, is a tool that many a traveler use to plan their trips and stops. The reviews that previous visitors of a premise/ enterprise/asset have an impact on the choices of future travelers for use social media to plan trips. We check available assets in Hindman on TripAdvisor, Yelp and Facebook and look at other customers’ reviews to get an idea of what to go for and what to avoid. We decide to include this café on our list of stops because of the glowing reviews it has.
- #8 - Mode of transport: We have our own car so we will be just paying for gas as travel expenses. Camping: We camped a lot during our college years thus we have camping equipment; tents, sleeping bags, lanterns etc. Fishing gear: So’s host dad is into sport fishing and will lend us his gear.

- #14 Travel Expenses: Gas money for Toyota Prius (hybrid) 40 miles to the gallon. To and from Hindman, from Berea, is a total of 228 miles via I-75s and Hal Rogers Parkway = 5.7 gallons gas Driving around Knott County 200 miles (estimate) = 5 gallons gas Total gas money = $42.8 ATVs: We got a group discount for the ATVs. It is usually $70 per person but we paid $50 per person. - Food: Lunch $10 per person Dinner $15 per person Breakfast $ 8 per person The above mentioned food prices are close estimates, everybody was paying for their own, thus ate as the wished. Real expenses vary, but not much from the estimate. - Camping: $10 a night for a spot.
- #15 Trip assessment: We were highly satisfied with the experience; it was the farewell we had wanted in may ways. Future travel: It is highly unlikely that we will visit again. We like to try new places every opportunity that we get. Likelihood to recommend to others: We will definitely recommend to other people because of the amazing experiences we had here. Most liked travel feature: Carr Creek Lake, being on the lake all afternoon in the Pontoon was one of the most private and awe inspiring experiences so far. Value perceptions: The value of products, services, and experiences were as we had expected.
