The Wild Mustang and
Native Culture Adventure
provides a fun and
memorable understanding
of the Paiute Tribe’s history,
culture, traditions, and
sustainable practices that
serve the community
surrounding Pyramid Lake,
the wildlife and the future.
Location
Centered in Paiute territory, Pyramid Lake features unique geological rock
formations with 125,000 surrounding acres where this geotourism
adventure begins.
Activities include; learning to feel the earth for wild mustang horses,
discovering the ancient art of basket weaving, the value of a “solar
highway” and insights from a heritage that made their life sustainable ,
(highlighted in the Paiute museum).
Many native fish species still call Pyramid Lake their home, including Cui-ui
fish and Lahontan cutthroat trout. The area would be ideal for fishing,
stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, mountain biking and hiking.

Adventure Track Pak
Interaction
All activities begin with an introduction of guides and
activity.
Activity 1: Sensing the Wild Horses and Activity 3:
Tour of Paiute Museum and Lake will be in groups.
When tour completes, participants are free to
experience the site to further absorb and connect..
Activity 2: Art of Paiute Basket will begin with an
introduction of how they gather reeds and make the
actual basket. Opportunity to craft a basket deepens
understanding while providing a chance to share
insights.
Activity 1: Sensing the Wild
1 Hr Session: 11:00 am- 12:00 noon
• 11:00am-11:20am
o Introduction about how to feel the ground
to sense when the wild horses are near.
Good locations of where to listen for wild
horses and their part in the eco-system.
• 11:20am-11:50am
o Guides share the practice of how to feel
the ground in each place. They will begin
with the further place from meeting point
and work their way back.
• 11:50am-12:00pm
o Staff will get participants discuss insights
on how to feel nearby wildlife movement
from the ground.

the education and insight participants gain
learning about their heritage and how they live
sustainably and in harmony with land, water and
wildlife.

tour begins) or Rogers Cowboy Supply would
benefit as sponsors linking them to providing this
incredible experience – which inspires customers
thru gratitude .
.ORG (non-profit) Animal Ark provides over
15,000 visitors each year with wildlife encounters
that inspire understanding, compassion and
connection.
Activity 2: Ancient Art of
Paiute Basket Weaving
2 Hr Session: Sundays 10:00 am- 12:00 noon
• 10:00am- 10:30am
o Introduction
about the
ancient art of
Paiute basket.
Participants
will be given a
quick and brief
background
about the Paiute culture to get an
understanding of the basket they will be
making in the end of the two hour session.
• 10:30am-11:00am
o Guides explain significance of collecting
materials
• 11:00am-11:15am
o Guides demonstrate Paiute basket technique.
11:15am-11:55am Participants craft a simple basket
Activity 2: Ancient Art of
Paiute Basket Weaving
Benefits of Agencies:
Pyramid Lake (.gov) benefit sharing ancestral
skills that provide visitors with a deeper
understanding and connection to how people
integrate with nature vs. dominate it. Plus provide
paying jobs to guides.
Hotel Crosby Lodge (.com) located just west of
Pyramid Lake could be a sponsor which raises
awareness about their lodging and offerings.
Washoe County Schools Volunteers (.org) could
benefit in sharing their talents and expertise. This
brings attention to their mission and funding for
helping others weave baskets from the eco-
system of the land.
Activity 3: Tour of Paiute
Museum & Lake
3 Hr Session: Sundays 1:30 pm- 4:30 pm
• 1:30pm-1:40pm
o Check-In at Paiute Museum
• 1:40pm-2:00pm
o Tour the Paiute Museum t gin a deeper understanding
of the Paiute culture and traditions, including current
practices that use sun to create energy.
• 2:35pm-2:50pm
o Participants can further explore the museum
themselves.
• 2:50pm-3:00pm
o Shuttle to some of the unique formations of Pyramid
• 3:00pm-4:00pm
o tour Lake while learning Paiute culture with water.
• 4:00pm-4:15pm
o Stroll around last stop of the lake tour to take photos
and ask questions.
• 4:15pm-4:30pm
o Shuttle back to the Paiute Museum.
Activity 3: Tour of Paiute Museum
& Lake
Benefit to Tribe:
Paying jobs for local expertise, exposure to Paiute
heritage that builds respect and support for tribal
goals and objectives.
The ability to share important and selected pieces of
native culture on their own terms and educate the
public with the stories that inspire a stewardship and
connection to the land.
Provide a model for Tribal tourism that inspires an
experience and understanding visitors will remember
and share with friends and family.

Assembly Point: Legends Mall, Sparks, NV
There will be signs in the parking lot where the
shuttle will be waiting, with a table, guides and
information setting up the adventure
Visitors have the option to arrive early and enjoy
a lunch at a local restaurants ( sponsor
opportunity)
Driving Directions to the Mall:
Take Hwy 80 east to Sparks Blvd, head toward
mall and enter the parking area in front of
Scheels.
Deeper Purpose
Understand connection people have to the land and the
8 Worlds: Sky, Water, Plant, Land, Wildlife,
Community, Culture and Heritage.
● How plants are sacred and significant for defining
and designing terrain and life support in all forms.
● How the care and connection to Pyramid Lake is the
culture.
● How sensing the vibrations in the land was used for
tracking wildlife, food, supplies, or danger.
● How heritage provides clues into people’s ability to
live in harmony sustainably.
● Culture forms the ‘landguage’ critical for surviving
and thriving.
● How horses unique gardening type grazing ensures
water sustains in a desert.
● How plants, air, water, land, history, culture and
wildlife serve Paiute community and culture.
Deeper Purpose
● Visitors will be introduced to how the trees, brush,
ground cover work together to support life and
contribute to Nevada’s beauty.
● The power to water traveling from Lake Tahoe to
north east to Pyramid Lake, the hot spots in the lake,
and the natural significance of the lake to the
community, and the life it brings.
● Through “Sensing The Wild Horses” activity
participants learn to utilize the land, as well as possibly
interacting with the wildlife and wild horses. In this
activity, participants become one with the land and
may possibly see the wild horses. Participants are
exposed to a very significant Paiute tradition that they
can carry with them and share with others.
Deeper Purpose
● This adventure brings history, culture, and tradition
to life through encountering the unique traditions of
Paiute people for the past to the present and the
significance of their ancient wisdom in helping build
sustainability for the future.
● Participants can give back to the community by
volunteering and/or donating their time.
● Community is emphasized through guided tours of
Pyramid Lake, the Paiute Museum, as well as gained
through learning the ancient art of basket weaving,
as a group.
● By the end of the adventure, participants can gain a
sense of community with their group members and
be comfortable exchanging words of wisdom and
feelings about their experience with
each other and to others in the
Logistics
Assembly Point:
Activity 1: Sensing the Wild Horses – Assemble at
Legends mall to met shuttle and transit captain
(guide). Shuttle east to specific places where the
horses graze.
Activity 2: Ancient Art of Paiute Basket – station
set up near where reeds or basket materials
might be gathered.
Activity 3: Tour of Paiute Museum - Paiute
Museum .The session will begin and end at Paiute
Museum.
Logistics Logistics
Visitor Requirements:
No age limits, however, participants should be
able to walk, sit and stand for at least 30 minutes
at time. Each activity requires some walking for
up to 20 minutes.
Participants should wear comfortable walking
shoes and layers, as the area can be windy at
times.
Participants should bring water , or container to
refill and sunscreen or a hat, since we will be
outside for most activities.
Host Responsibilities
TRANSIT: Shuttle w/capacity 18 to 20 people (group guide).
CRAFTING: Materials and Paiute crafting guides.
LAND and LAKE GUIDES to interpret unique land
formations.
WILD HORSE GUIDE: to provide insight into the local
roaming herds and their significance to the desert and the
future of water.
PAIUTE MUSEUM GUIDE with opportunity to provide
additional materials for further discovery which deepens the
visitors connection to Paiute heritage.
PARTNERS/SPONSORS: can provide transit support and
supplies like: re-usable bags, water canteens, notebooks,
sun visors, walking sticks, info packets, etc brings their
participation more into view for the visitors while building
brand awareness and affiliation with enriched visitor
experiences, that inspire linger stays, quicker returns and
the desire to share stories that increase demand
A take-home pamphlet with space for a visitor to journal
their own experience will further enroll the visitor in the
story you would like them to migrate.

GeoTrack "Wild Mustangs and Native Culture"

  • 1. The Wild Mustang and Native Culture Adventure provides a fun and memorable understanding of the Paiute Tribe’s history, culture, traditions, and sustainable practices that serve the community surrounding Pyramid Lake, the wildlife and the future. Location Centered in Paiute territory, Pyramid Lake features unique geological rock formations with 125,000 surrounding acres where this geotourism adventure begins. Activities include; learning to feel the earth for wild mustang horses, discovering the ancient art of basket weaving, the value of a “solar highway” and insights from a heritage that made their life sustainable , (highlighted in the Paiute museum). Many native fish species still call Pyramid Lake their home, including Cui-ui fish and Lahontan cutthroat trout. The area would be ideal for fishing, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, mountain biking and hiking.   • 4. Adventure Track Pak Interaction All activities begin with an introduction of guides and activity. Activity 1: Sensing the Wild Horses and Activity 3: Tour of Paiute Museum and Lake will be in groups. When tour completes, participants are free to experience the site to further absorb and connect.. Activity 2: Art of Paiute Basket will begin with an introduction of how they gather reeds and make the actual basket. Opportunity to craft a basket deepens understanding while providing a chance to share insights. Activity 1: Sensing the Wild 1 Hr Session: 11:00 am- 12:00 noon • 11:00am-11:20am o Introduction about how to feel the ground to sense when the wild horses are near. Good locations of where to listen for wild horses and their part in the eco-system. • 11:20am-11:50am o Guides share the practice of how to feel the ground in each place. They will begin with the further place from meeting point and work their way back. • 11:50am-12:00pm o Staff will get participants discuss insights on how to feel nearby wildlife movement from the ground.
  • 5. Activity 1: Sensing the Wild TriNomic ™ benefit .GOV (Agency) Paiute Tribe could benefit from the education and insight participants gain learning about their heritage and how they live sustainably and in harmony with land, water and wildlife. .COM (business) Scheels , Legend Mall (where the tour begins) or Rogers Cowboy Supply would benefit as sponsors linking them to providing this incredible experience – which inspires customers thru gratitude . .ORG (non-profit) Animal Ark provides over 15,000 visitors each year with wildlife encounters that inspire understanding, compassion and connection. Activity 2: Ancient Art of Paiute Basket Weaving 2 Hr Session: Sundays 10:00 am- 12:00 noon • 10:00am- 10:30am o Introduction about the ancient art of Paiute basket. Participants will be given a quick and brief background about the Paiute culture to get an understanding of the basket they will be making in the end of the two hour session. • 10:30am-11:00am o Guides explain significance of collecting materials • 11:00am-11:15am o Guides demonstrate Paiute basket technique. 11:15am-11:55am Participants craft a simple basket
  • 6. Activity 2: Ancient Art of Paiute Basket Weaving Benefits of Agencies: Pyramid Lake (.gov) benefit sharing ancestral skills that provide visitors with a deeper understanding and connection to how people integrate with nature vs. dominate it. Plus provide paying jobs to guides. Hotel Crosby Lodge (.com) located just west of Pyramid Lake could be a sponsor which raises awareness about their lodging and offerings. Washoe County Schools Volunteers (.org) could benefit in sharing their talents and expertise. This brings attention to their mission and funding for helping others weave baskets from the eco- system of the land. Activity 3: Tour of Paiute Museum & Lake 3 Hr Session: Sundays 1:30 pm- 4:30 pm • 1:30pm-1:40pm o Check-In at Paiute Museum • 1:40pm-2:00pm o Tour the Paiute Museum t gin a deeper understanding of the Paiute culture and traditions, including current practices that use sun to create energy. • 2:35pm-2:50pm o Participants can further explore the museum themselves. • 2:50pm-3:00pm o Shuttle to some of the unique formations of Pyramid • 3:00pm-4:00pm o tour Lake while learning Paiute culture with water. • 4:00pm-4:15pm o Stroll around last stop of the lake tour to take photos and ask questions. • 4:15pm-4:30pm o Shuttle back to the Paiute Museum.
  • 7. Activity 3: Tour of Paiute Museum & Lake Benefit to Tribe: Paying jobs for local expertise, exposure to Paiute heritage that builds respect and support for tribal goals and objectives. The ability to share important and selected pieces of native culture on their own terms and educate the public with the stories that inspire a stewardship and connection to the land. Provide a model for Tribal tourism that inspires an experience and understanding visitors will remember and share with friends and family. Assembly Point Transportation Assembly Point: Legends Mall, Sparks, NV There will be signs in the parking lot where the shuttle will be waiting, with a table, guides and information setting up the adventure Visitors have the option to arrive early and enjoy a lunch at a local restaurants ( sponsor opportunity) Driving Directions to the Mall: Take Hwy 80 east to Sparks Blvd, head toward mall and enter the parking area in front of Scheels.

Deeper Purpose Understand connection people have to the land and the 8 Worlds: Sky, Water, Plant, Land, Wildlife, Community, Culture and Heritage. ● How plants are sacred and significant for defining and designing terrain and life support in all forms. ● How the care and connection to Pyramid Lake is the culture. ● How sensing the vibrations in the land was used for tracking wildlife, food, supplies, or danger. ● How heritage provides clues into people’s ability to live in harmony sustainably. ● Culture forms the ‘landguage’ critical for surviving and thriving. ● How horses unique gardening type grazing ensures water sustains in a desert. ● How plants, air, water, land, history, culture and wildlife serve Paiute community and culture. Deeper Purpose ● Visitors will be introduced to how the trees, brush, ground cover work together to support life and contribute to Nevada’s beauty. ● The power to water traveling from Lake Tahoe to north east to Pyramid Lake, the hot spots in the lake, and the natural significance of the lake to the community, and the life it brings. ● Through “Sensing The Wild Horses” activity participants learn to utilize the land, as well as possibly interacting with the wildlife and wild horses. In this activity, participants become one with the land and may possibly see the wild horses. Participants are exposed to a very significant Paiute tradition that they can carry with them and share with others.

Deeper Purpose ● This adventure brings history, culture, and tradition to life through encountering the unique traditions of Paiute people for the past to the present and the significance of their ancient wisdom in helping build sustainability for the future. ● Participants can give back to the community by volunteering and/or donating their time. ● Community is emphasized through guided tours of Pyramid Lake, the Paiute Museum, as well as gained through learning the ancient art of basket weaving, as a group. ● By the end of the adventure, participants can gain a sense of community with their group members and be comfortable exchanging words of wisdom and feelings about their experience with each other and to others in the Logistics Assembly Point: Activity 1: Sensing the Wild Horses – Assemble at Legends mall to met shuttle and transit captain (guide). Shuttle east to specific places where the horses graze. Activity 2: Ancient Art of Paiute Basket – station set up near where reeds or basket materials might be gathered. Activity 3: Tour of Paiute Museum - Paiute Museum .The session will begin and end at Paiute Museum.
  • 10. Logistics Logistics Visitor Requirements: No age limits, however, participants should be able to walk, sit and stand for at least 30 minutes at time. Each activity requires some walking for up to 20 minutes. Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes and layers, as the area can be windy at times. Participants should bring water , or container to refill and sunscreen or a hat, since we will be outside for most activities. Host Responsibilities TRANSIT: Shuttle w/capacity 18 to 20 people (group guide). CRAFTING: Materials and Paiute crafting guides. LAND and LAKE GUIDES to interpret unique land formations. WILD HORSE GUIDE: to provide insight into the local roaming herds and their significance to the desert and the future of water. PAIUTE MUSEUM GUIDE with opportunity to provide additional materials for further discovery which deepens the visitors connection to Paiute heritage. PARTNERS/SPONSORS: can provide transit support and supplies like: re-usable bags, water canteens, notebooks, sun visors, walking sticks, info packets, etc brings their participation more into view for the visitors while building brand awareness and affiliation with enriched visitor experiences, that inspire linger stays, quicker returns and the desire to share stories that increase demand A take-home pamphlet with space for a visitor to journal their own experience will further enroll the visitor in the story you would like them to migrate.
