The document provides details on the pre-production planning for a student film project. Locations scouted include a street in Knaresborough at night and a field near a lake during the day. Equipment needs are minimal as the student owns necessary gear, but college equipment may be used if needed. Facilities for editing will be at college. A small cast and crew of friends and family is planned. A schedule is outlined across several dates in April for filming at the student's house. Potential health and safety issues around weather, equipment, and crew attendance are addressed.
This work is related to my short film which I will be filming and editing over the summer. It is missing some work but I will upload it when it has be completed.

3. Locations
Location Lighting Audio Risks Solution
Street at night in
Knaresborough
underneath a street
light.
May need some
lighting but will be
filming underneath a
street light for a
certain shot.
No audio problems as
we will be recording
the audio another
time to go over the
footage.
It may rain or be
to dark or we may
have too much
traffic when
trying to film.
Go to a quiet road
with no traffic,
check the weather
forecast and make
sure the lighting is
good enough for the
shot.
Field in Knaresborough by
a lake.
No need for lighting as
we will use natural
lighting during the day
time.
No audio problems as
I will have pre
recorded audio to
place over the
footage when editing.
It may be raining,
loud, and busy
when recording.
Go to a quiet field
or a quieter part to
a field, check the
weather forecast.
My house Will use lights around
the house and a ring
light which I own.
No audio problems as
the house will be
quiet and may film
audio later on after
filming the footage.
The audio may be
to loud or not
sound right with
other noises
around the house.
Film the audio in
another room which
is away from noise
and is quiet with no
background noises.
• Horseshoe fields, Knaresborough: it may be busy on the
day that we are wanting to film, it is in my area so the
distance isn’t far, there will be no costs as it is a public
field. I will choose a quiet area with no distractions or
noise and I will check the weather forecast before I go
out to film to help me decide what day to film, and
which location will be best for me.
4. Equipment
I will not be needing any equipment from college as I will be
using my phone and other recording equipment which I own
at home, which includes lighting and audio equipment.
In case I do need any equipment if anything goes wrong I will
use college equipment like a camera and tripod, but that
would be the only equipment I would need.
I will need to book this on the college booking form if I do
need the equipment and also speak to my college tutors
about equipment which I need.
5. Facilities
I will be editing my footage and audio at college as it has
the software that will make my FMP look its best. I will not
be needing any other specialist facilities for this as I will be
editing all my footage after our two weeks off and when I
have two weeks left of production.
i will only be editing at college as I don’t have the right
software to edit anywhere else.
6. Personnel
My team will include cast, and people to help with filming, audio and
lighting. My friends and family will be helping to do this, and it will be
different people for each piece of footage that we film. The
weaknesses of my crew will be that some people may let me down and
others may only be able to help on certain days instead of all days, the
strengths would be that I would have at least two people to help me
each day I film which will make the process easier and quicker.
I will not to be getting any transport for any of my cast as they will not
be needing it as we will not be filming any footage far away as all
locations are accessible and have a close distance to everybody
7. Props/Costume/etc
I will not be needing any costumes as the cast can wear
clothes that they already own or what I own.
For this trailer I will be using props such as fake blood,
pills/tablets (Fake ones), a weapon like a hammer, knife, or
anything that can be found in a house or garage, I may use a
facial mask for the murderer in my trailer, and I will also
need props such as an alarm clock for the beginning of my
trailer.
9. Storyboarding
Your storyboard should bring your idea to life
Provide an idea of the sequencing of you video
Provides a basis for production
Suggested online storyboard creators are:
https://www.storyboardthat.com
http://www.pixton.com [very complicated]
http://www.storyjumper.com [allows you to insert your own
images]
Alternatively, hand draw or photograph your storyboard and scan or
copy to insert it onto your slides
10. 1. Shot of the girl waking up in the
morning taking her tablets. Walks to
school/through school with her friend and
someone runs into her and pushes her
over and she gets mad.
2. She walks home and gets a hone call by an
unknown number telling her to watch her back,
she panics and tells her friend. Later that night
she hears someone in her room she falls and
hears them again and screams her friend walks
in and tells her it is probably her medication.
3. In one scene she
walks home in the dark
and sees someone
following her she panics
and sees them holding a
weapon. She will also at
one point see them
standing underneath a
lamppost opposite their
house and starts to walk
towards them. They try
to lock the door but it is
too late and the person
is in their house.
There will be shots of the girl hiding and trying
to get out and find help or grabbing weapons
and being caught by the mysterious person.
11. Shot List
Your shot list should contain the sequential breakdown of
what you need to shoot for your video
It should work in partnership with your storyboard
It will be your working document when you film
It should contain the shot number, scene number, shot
description, framing and action you will see
It should also have information on performers in the scene
and other props, etc
Shot list template is on Blackboard in the pre-production
folder.
12. A shot of a alarm clock or alarm on a phone and the main character reaching over to turn it off,
they will get up look at themselves in the mirror and hear the doorbell ring or a knock on the

at people and make fun of them) (medium long shot)
Someone will be running away from some bullies and look at them for help but instead the main

Later that day the main character will be in her room taking some tablets to help with her
Charles Bonnet syndrome (hallucinations and seeing things that other people don’t see) (medium

to you” they will reply with “ahaha good joke” (close up)

16. locations
York close Knaresborough (my house)
This street and house will be the main location as I will be
filming inside of the house and down the street as I will not
need any more footage.
If I decide to film anywhere else, I will be using horseshoe
fileds in Knaresborough.

18. Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
The weather may be bad when I am
planning on filming, and I would be filming
outdoors.
Check the weather forecast and record
footage indoors on the days that it is bad
weather, so I am not wasting time.
My camera may not work as it may not be
fully charged before I go to record.
Make sure that my equipment is fully
charged, or I should at least bring a battery
pack or other things to record the footage
with.
Some of my kit may get damaged by
people stepping on it or dropping it.
Make sure that all the equipment isn’t left
on the floor and is somewhere where it
won't get damaged
Some of my crew or cast may not show up
when we are wanting to film.
Discuss what day we will be filming so
everybody knows and if anybody can't
make it then reschedule another day to
record.
Editor's Notes
You need to identify locations and plan a recce.
What are the limitations and risks, eg distance, access, cost, weather? How will you manage this?
What do you need? E.g. equipment, resources? Mostly from college, but who do you need to speak to get this kit? What is available? When?
Look at equipment hire places, etc
Where will you edit your video? Do you need any other specialist facilities…?
CREW: What is you team? Who is in it? What are each team members strengths/weaknesses? When are they available?
CAST: Do you need any external performers? When are they available? Cost implications? Will you have to feed them? Transport them?
Other personnel? Is anyone else helping you?
