This document discusses two ways to connect a GeoVision GV-Video Server or GV-Compact DVR to a wireless broadband network using a 3G mobile solution: 1) Connect a supported mobile broadband device like a Huawei or Verizon USB modem directly to the device, or 2) Connect a 3G mobile router to the device via Ethernet and access the internet through the router's 3G connection. It provides details on setting up the UMTS connection and lists compatible USB modems.

You can connect the GV-Video Server and GV-Compact DVR to a wireless broadband
network by one of these ways:
1. Connect a supported mobile broadband device to GV-Video Server/GV-Compact
DVR
Connect a supported mobile broadband device to the USB port on the GV-Video Server or
GV-Compact DVR. Then activate the UMTS settings from the web-based configuration
interface to access wireless broadband network. For the web-based configuration, see
“UMTS” section in the user’s manual.

2. 2. Connect a 3G mobile router to GV-Video Server/GV-Compact DVR
You can directly connect any 3G mobile router to GV-Video Server or GV-Compact DVR
by using an Ethernet cable. Be sure that the 3G mobile router has the 3G Internet
connection established to your service provider. The GV-Video Server or GV-Compact
DVR can then have a wireless Internet access through the router.
