High-speed dial-up works by compressing web pages, images, and other file types to accelerate the transfer of data over traditional dial-up connections. It uses techniques like on-the-fly compression, filtering of unnecessary content like pop-ups, and caching of frequently accessed content on acceleration servers in order to decrease load times and improve browsing speeds compared to standard dial-up internet. Test results showed that a popular high-speed dial-up provider sped up loading times for various websites by an average of 50-75% compared to traditional dial-up.
