depend on Dial-up connecting.
Dial-up’s speed is restricted by the bandwidth
of phone.
Now, almost connecting uses another
connecting method with Dial-up - broadband
connecting. But it needs a lot of time.
There is a new technology “Hight speed Dial-
up”.

Standard connecting is doing too many
communication. So, high speed Dial-up cuts
some communication and handshake become
shorter.

 up is file compression.
 If we do file compression, communication
 speed becomes faster.
 Two types file compression are used now.
 One of them is lossy compression. This way
 cut unwanted information. So, we can’t return
 before condition.
 Another one is lossless compression. This
 way can return before condition.
How Filtering works

When we see web page, we may see some
advertisements.
Step of getting these advertisements data
contains whole communication steps. So,
advertisements make communication to slow.
High speed Dial-up provider cuts
advertisements data automatically.
As a result, we can see some web page more
quickly than before.
How Caching works

When we see web page that we have ever
been, then communication is unwanted.
Provider cuts communication steps if we have
ever been the page and it hasn’t changed.
When get web page data, provider check
them and compare with cache.
Cache is data that is information of web pages
which have ever been.
By present page’s data compare with cache,
we can know whether the page has changed.
Experiment of high speed


We don’t know how does high speed Dial-up
become faster. So, experiment is done.
This experiment used one of high speed Dial-
up provider - NetZero.
We measure communication both speed of
standard and high speed.
At last, we understand high speed Dial-up is
three times faster than standard.
