ABANDONING OF WIDOWS A SOCIAL EVIL, A BLOT ON THE
CULTURE OF OUR COUNTRY: PRESIDENT IN VRINDAVAN
Mathura (PTI): The
practice of widows be-
ing abandoned by their
sons and relatives is a
social evil and a blot on
the country’s culture,
President Ram Nath Ko-
vind said on Monday
and advocated their re-
marriage and economic
independence.
Interacting with in-
mates of Krishna Kutir,
ahomeforwidows,inthe
temple town of Vrinda-
van here, the President
commended the effort to
establish the facility but
said that there should be
no need for such shelter
homes in society
. “There
have been many exam-
pleswhereinsonsorfam-
ily members of many
womenleftthemasdesti-
tute in Vrindavan and
never came back to even
enquire about their con-
dition,” he said. “This
social evil is a blot on the
culture of our country
.

He compared such
treatment of widows to
social evils like child
marriage,satianddowry
.
“My view is that there
shouldbenoneedforthe
construction of shelter
homes like ‘Krishna

.Instead,
efforts should be made
towards measures like
remarriage, economic
independence, share in
family property
, protec-
tion of social and moral
rights of destitute wom-
en,” the President said.
Kovind also said that
it has been seen that af-
ter the death of a wom-
an’s husband, the atti-
tude of not only that
family but of the society
changes towards her.
“We have to come for-
ward and awaken the
society to stop the ne-
glect faced by widows.
From time to time many
saintsandsocialreform-
ers have made efforts to
improve the difficult life
of such despised moth-
ers and sisters,” he said.
“Ialsoappealtoallthe
responsible citizens of
the society that these

. Their contact
with society should be

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HEARING
Mumbai: Maharashtra min-
ister Aaditya Thackeray on
Monday threw another dare
at rebel Shiv Sena leaders to
“come face to face” and tell
him what they feel is wrong.
Led by his father Uddhav, govt
and party are facing a mutiny by Shinde’s fac-
tion, which has around 40 of 55 Sena MLAs.
Mumbai: Maha CM Uddhav
Thackeray, who is facing
a massive mutiny in Sena
ranks, has stripped 9 rebel
ministers of their portfolios.
Among these 9 are 5 cabinet
mins and 4 MoS. Responsi-
bilities have been redistributed so that “public
welfare work did not stall”, an order said.
A core committee meeting of Maha
BJP was held at the residence of
Devendra Fadnavis, to discuss
the present political situation in
state. BJP’s Sudhir Mungantiwar
said a core team will meet once
again and take a decision in the
interest of the people of Maha.
Mumbai: Sena’s Sanjay Raut, among
most vociferous backers of Maha
CM Uddhav amid a
revolt in party, has
been summoned by
ED in Mumbai for
questioning today
in a case of alleged
money laundering.
Raut, a RS member, responded with
charge that “this is a conspiracy to
stop me”. Team Thackeray has been
saying that mutiny led by Shinde is a
result of “pressure of ED, CBI” under
BJP-led central government.

Lucknow(PTI): They
might be strong com-

top honours as singer-

Manoj Tiwari, Ravi Kis-

be seen sharing the
treasury benches in the
Lok Sabha as members
of the same political
party BJP.
Though Tiwari who

popular faces in the cor-

The three stars of the
Bhojpuri film industry
had worked together in
the movie “Ganga Ja-

SCHEME MAKING A DIFFERENCE
First India Bureau
Lucknow: Aimed at all-
round welfare and up-
liftment of the female
child, Yogi Adityanath
government’s flagship
scheme ‘Mukhya Man-
tri Kanya Sumangala
Yojana’ has come a long
way to secure financial
independence and secu-
rity for daughters hail-
ing from weaker sec-
tions in the state.
And Shazia, a resi-
dent of village Khaju-
ria, district Rampur,
has set the example for
others by becoming not
only capable enough to
provide quality educa-
tion to her daughters
but also successfully
discharge her duties as
a responsible parent.
“My husband Mohd Sal-
man’s meagre income
made it difficult for us
to raise our children re-
sponsibly. As parents
we wanted to educate
our two daughters —
Zeenat and Seema —
equally well as our son,
however, it was nearly
impossible for us to do
so,” said Shazia.
Shazia’s struggles came
to an end when she at-
tended a women aware-
ness programme organ-
ised by Department of
Women and Child De-
velopment, where she
was enlightened of
various govt schemes
aimed at benefiting low-
income families.
“As soon as I was in-
formed about Mukhya
Mantri Kanya Suman-
gala scheme, I got both
my daughters regis-
tered, which helped me
become a better parent
and fuflil the dreams
and aspirations of my
daughters by giving
them good education,
and better health care
facilities,” said Shazia
while expressing grati-
tude to CM Yogi.

BY-POLL WINS SHOW FRUITS OF E-GOVERNANCE IN UP
First India Bureau
Lucknow: The suc-
cess of the principle
of ‘Less government
and more governance’
has proved to be a
huge game-changer in
the administration of
UP by the Yogi Adity-
anath government.
The various aspects of
this principle have
made the lives of ordi-
nary citizens in the
state easy and given
them greater access to
government services
and benefits. Not only
this, the governance
model has also led to
an even greater trust
of the people on this
government, as is evi-
dent in the huge man-
date seen in the two
recent by-elections.
The government of
Uttar Pradesh has
adopted various e-gov-
ernance modules for
different sections of
society. These include
e-governance systems
for people, businesses
and the government
itself. In addition, sev-
eral e-governance ini-
tiatives are in the pipe-
line and when imple-
mented fully, they will
make the state closer
to the objective of be-
ing the premier e-gov-
erned state in India.
The major e-govern-
ance portals in opera-

Patna (PTI): A BJP
minister in Bihar on
Monday claimed that
the party’s success in
by-polls for Lok Sabha
seats in UP was tanta-
mount to a vote for Ag-

has triggered protests
in the two populous
states.
Pramod Kumar, who
holds law portfolio,
made a declamation to
the effect outside the

vent to his frustration

proceedings on account
of ruckus created by
the opposition demand-
ing withdrawal of the

Agniveers are at
work in more than a
dozen countries. Many
multinational (sic)

scheme , said the Bihar
minister, apparently
referring to many ma-

Justice NV Ramana’s
call to students and
youth to understand
the importance of de-
mocracy and actively partici-
pate in it so that it can be sus-
tained and strengthened is much
needed when there is the fear
that democratic values are being
eroded through misuse of power
by the government and institu-
tions. In the end it boils down to
the kind of democracy the youth
should sustain and strengthen.
With authoritarian democracies
emerging, democracy has ac-
quired a new meaning which is
different from the one contained
in Magna Carta, providing for
individual rights and liberties.
Russia is believed to be a demo-
cratic country but is it?
A Freedom House report said
that democracy is in a crisis
with the deterioration in politi-
cal rights and civil liberties, es-
pecially those of minorities,
globally. The report said that
even the United States “retreat-
ed from its role… as a champion
and exemplar of democracy”.
Indian democracy is also said to
be under threat.

except that for the first time
since 2018 Russia has default-
ed on foreign debt repayment
because the West has blocked
payment routes of its credi-
tors. To Russians who are fac-
ing double-digit inflation and
severe economic contraction,
this may not bother much.
The debt repayment de-
fault is much due to the West
as Russia has enough funds
to repay its debt and service
interest thereon. Western
countries who presumed that
they would be able to arm-
twist Russia with sanctions
must be realizing their poor
estimation of Russia which
continues to pound and gain
territory in Ukraine. West-
ern arms supplies are still
not enough for Ukraine to
take on its mighty neighbour
which is playing coy about
any further involvement.
To top it all, Ukraine’s mem-
bershipof theEuropeanUnion
is yet to come through. Presi-
dent Zelensky applied for the
EU on February 28, 2022 with
the request that it should be

mission President Ursula von

hopes of early membership
when she said that the process
would be “over time”. No won-
der Ukraine wants the war to
end but doesn’t know how.
RUSSIA’S DEFAULT

Unable to end imports of Russian gas and oil supplies Europe
has, in a way, cushioned Moscow from the blow of sanctions.
India and China have also come to Russia’s rescue with record
imports of 34 million barrels of discounted crude. These
alternative buyers are helping Russian exports to stay at
the 2021 level of USD 494 billion

A LOT OF DRAMA LIES
AHEAD IN MAHARASHTRA
The BJP is winning, and NCP is waiting for Sena’s suicidal step so that it emerges unscathed
F
If the BJP can’t forget the early
morning swearing-in of
Devendra Fadnavis and his
exit in the next few hours, the
Sena would never forgive the
BJP for the present round of
humiliation. The longer the
stalemate continues, both inside
Assembly and out in courts, the
more it would benefit the anti-
Sena forces. Even the BJP may
also want that situation to
linger on – Shinde is
expendable, after all, the real
fight is with the Thackerays.
Then BJP has Raj Thackeray
as well. MNS chief is craving to
hit back at his cousin for his
own insult 17 years ago
or now, the ultimate victor in
Maharashtra politics has
been the BJP. It should be al-
lowed to hold some sort of a
medal for finally defeating
theShivSenaatitsowngame.
After Raj Thackeray’s exit
from the Sena in 2006 – post
two other previous revolts –
and Eknath Shinde’s current
round of chicanery, Shiv
Sena must be shedding copi-
ous tears. As ex-CM Deven-
dra Fadnavis counts the days
of the MVA government, Ud-
dhav Thackeray looks for
some reassuring observa-
tions from SC. The BJP has
attained its first objective of
shaking the foundation of the
three-way ruling alliance of
Shiv Sena, NCP
, and the Con-
gress, without having to show
its hand in the Shiv Sena’s
“intraparty” affairs.
Of the two Hindutva cous-
ins – the BJP and Shiv Sena
– the latter has been more vi-
cious in its tactic. From be-
ing a champion of the ‘son of
the soil’ and Maratha pride,
it successfully graduated to
project itself as the spokes-
person for the Hindus. It re-
mained beholden to Balasa-
heb Thackeray who took full
advantage of the politics of
opportunism of the Congress
and created a ‘larger than
life’ image of himself.
On the contrary, the BJP
has had a one-point agenda:
‘Congress-mukt Bharat’. By
that, it wants to uproot all
that has even shades of Con-
gress in it – good or bad – in
the name of shedding ad-
hocism.Thepartyremainson
the lookout for Shinde’s and
suchlike. It cleverly separates
Congress from those with
only ambition to chase, such
as Hardik Patel. It makes a
case for itself as a product of
victimhood. It has succeeded
because for people, every
shining rhetoric is worth its
weight in gold to be expended
tobuymoreof it.TheBJPhas
plenty of unspent rhetoric,
the Congress has none and
regional parties are too busy
with their own regional aspi-
rations; look at the non-Hindi
political landscape.
Sharad Pawar didn’t go off
the tangent when he learnt of
the Shinde episode for the
first time. He reportedly
asked:“Didn’ttheyhavesome
intel about it?” An aging Pa-
warhashadlimitations–ever
since he left Sonia Gandhi
way back in 1999 to float his
own NCP. For him, BJP was
hardly to blame as much as
Shiv Sena, which has com-
plained several times of NCP
expanding its base at the cost
of Shiv Sena. Therefore, Pa-
war might have removed an
irritant in the MVA dispensa-
tion. Yet, the question is
which Shiv Sena we are talk-
ing about – the new one led by
Shinde or the original care-
taker Uddhav. The NCP objec-
tive right now is to delay the
MVA fall. Given that the Su-
preme Court has come into
the picture and soon the mat-
ter will land up in the high
court, Pawar has ensured the
NCP remains unscathed and
that the entire blame for the
MVA collapse – if it comes to
that – should shift to the Sena.
One fact that has emerged
from a changing India is the
rise of intense competitive
politics, where politicians of
all hues want things done
asap. The positive part of it is
restless voters stay engaged,
but the negative is it gives
rise to vendetta politics.
The current Sena episode
has its roots in the period of
Covid-induced lockdown. It is
fairlywellknownthatthepan-
demic increased the commu-
nication gap between Uddhav
and his MLAs, especially
those with rural background.
The Shiv Sena remained fo-
cused on Mumbai and the
politics of cash-rich Brihan-
mumbai Municipal Corpora-
tion (BMC). Eknath Shinde,
theThanestrongman,wasthe
onetowhomallMLAscongre-

ing neglected with the rise of
Aaditya Thackeray and San-
jay Raut. Shinde struck when
his route to Surat and Guwa-
hati became clear as most of
his loyal MLAs from rural ar-
eas were ready to go with him.
We must accept we are past
political correctness and mo-
rality in the relentless battle
for supremacy of political
forces. If the BJP can’t forget
theearlymorningswearing-in

HAS ‘HIGH HANDEDNESS’ IN MANAGING
PARTY AFFAIRS HIT THACKERAYS?
Mahesh Sharma
Mumbai: After the po-
litical developments in
Maharashtra, there
have been several re-
ports that the Chief
Minister knew for
months that prepara-
tions for a rebellion
were being made in his
party. NCP supremo
Sharad Pawar was quot-
ed as saying that he had
told Uddhav Thackeray
a month ago that all is
not well inside Shiv
Sena and he should fix
his house. Journalists
also say that there was a
CID report that Eknath
Shinde is angry and he
is uniting the MLAs.
The question is that
when everyone had the
news and Chief Minis-
ter Uddhav Thackeray
also knew, then why
were the disgruntled lot
‘managed’ in time? One
reason for this is being
told the working style of
the Thackeray family
. In
front of the Thackeray
family, the status of a
party leader is not more
than that of a peon.
Meanwhile, Uddhav
Thackeray’s health was
deteriorating, due to
which he stayed away
from his leaders.
Also a big reason is
that Shiv Sena has no
manager. Before Maha
Vikas Aghadi was
formed or Uddhav
Thackeray became the
Chief Minister, Sharad
Pawar was managing
the affairs from behind
the curtain. Even later,
Pawar’s management
continued to work in
maintaining the coali-
tion government. For
the first time there was
a crisis in the Shiv Sena
and it went out of con-
trol because in the last
two decades, the Shiv
Sena did not find any
manager. Its top leader,
the Thackeray family,
believed that no Shiv
Sainik could even think
of being a rebel. In the
Bal Thackeray era, Shiv
Sena had leaders like
Manohar Joshi,
Chhagan Bhujbal and
NarayanRanewhowere
also popular and also ex-
pert in management.
After the departure of
Bhujbal and Rane, there
is just Sanjay Raut left,
but he is also the leader
and spokesperson who
merely makes state-
ments and is not a ‘man-
ager’. Aaditya Thacker-
ay was believed to be
able to handle the man-
agement but the arro-
gance and feeling of be-
ing Bal Thackeray’s
grandson keeps him
away from party leaders
and workers.

Sharat Verma
Mumbai: How did for-
mer Maharashtra Chief
Minister Devendra Fad-
navis suddenly become
so powerful that he is
challenging and even
defeating the govern-
ment and seems to be
reaching the chief min-
ister’s chair for the
third time? That per-
haps is the biggest ques-
tion in the current po-
litical clime of the na-
tion. In the Rajya Sabha
elections, he made the
third BJP candidate
win by juggling five to
six votes. After that,
Fadnavis defeated Ma-
havikas Aghadi by chal-
lenging it in the Legisla-
tive Council elections.
He had announced after
the Rajya Sabha elec-
tions that he would give
a bigger blow in the
election of the Legisla-
tive Council and proved
his word as he garnered
20 additional votes to
win the fifth seat in the
Legislative Council.
In this, only three
MLAs of Shiv Sena en-
gaged in cross-voting,
but now more than a
dozen of its MLAs have
turned rebel. Informed
sources say that the re-
bel leaders of Shiv Sena
had told Fadnavis that
they would support him
if he wins the fifth seat
in the Legislative Coun-
cil on his own. Fadnavis
won the fifth seat with-
out the help of the rebel
Shiv Sena MLAs. Apart
from three MLAs each
from Shiv Sena and
Congress, he also added
MLAs of 15 independ-
ents and smaller par-
ties, who were support-
ing the Mahavikas
Aghadi government till
now. It was only after
this that Eknath Shinde
and other MLAs got the
courage to revolt.
So the question is,
who is helping Fadnavis
in this whole campaign?
According to informed
sources, he is getting di-
rect or indirect help
from Sharad Pawar or
Ajit Pawar, because
Maha Vikas Aghadi has
a huge majority in the
state and till some time
ago the entire command
was in the hands of the
ruling coalition. Some
time back Sharad Pa-
war had met Prime Min-
ister Narendra Modi. It
was then said that they
had gone to talk about
the action being taken
against their leaders
and the pending names
of the nominated mem-
bers in the Legislative
Council.
But it was only after
that meeting that the
equation started chang-
ing in Maharashtra.
The command has
passed from the hands
of the ruling coalition
to the hands of Fad-
navis. Till some time
back, Fadnavis seemed
isolated even in his own
party but now he has
emerged as the most
powerful leader in Ma-
harashtra. He won an
additional seat each in
both the Rajya Sabha
and the Legislative
Council. First he gave a
blow to Shiv Sena and
then to Congress. Pa-
war’s party NCP did not
suffer in both the elec-
tions and now after the
rebellion within Shiv
Sena, the possibility of
him becoming the Chief
Minister is visible.
Who helped Fadnavis in the ‘political rupture’ in Maharashtra?
Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

IIT DEVELOPS
SOLAR-BASED
ROOT ZONE
HEATING
SYSTEM FOR
PLANTS IN HIGH-
ALTITUDE AREAS
Researchers at the Indian
Institute of Technology (IIT),
Kanpur have developed a solar
energy-based root zone heating
system and vermi-bed method
for plants in high-altitude areas.
According to officials, the
technology for which the
researchers have also been
granted a patent has been
developed keeping in view the
scarcity of fresh vegetables or
agricultural produce and the
lack of effective organic waste
management in high-altitude
areas like the Ladakh region.
“The high altitude areas pose
some crucial problems when it
comes to availability of fresh
produce and organic waste
management, especially for our
defence forces that require a
good amount of fresh produce
in their daily diet. Due to the
climate and weather conditions,
it is difficult to avail fresh
produce year-long,” said Abhay
Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur.
Hence, this novel technology of
root zone heating system and
vermi-bed method developed
by the team at our institute is a
significant step towards helping
especially our defence forces
deployed there with fresh
vegetable supply and a solution
to effectively mitigate organic
waste,” he added. According to
the team, the basic premise of
the technology is a greenhouse
(polyhouse) plantation of
vegetables and a provision of
the heating root zone of the
plants. The root zone heating is
scientifically studied and
modelled by laying a network of
GI (Galvanised Iron) pipes
below the ground carrying
solar-heated water and by
integrating aluminium sheet
fins with the buried GI pipes to
enhance the heat transfer. A
significant temperature increase
(7 degrees Celsius to 18
degrees Celsius) in soil was
achieved during the trial,
depending upon the
temperature of hot water being
flown inside the GI pipes. This
raised temperature helped
plants grow in a faster and
healthier way than the plants
grown outside at relatively low
temperatures. Such a system in
high altitude areas can better
the cropping cycle to produce
fresh vegetables even in winter
conditions,” said Anubha Goel,
Professor at IIT Kanpur’s
Department of Civil
Engineering. —PTI

Lucknow: The verdict
in the bypolls to the two
Lok Sabha seats --
Azamgarh and Rampur
-- is no doubt out, but the
results actually throw a
surprise in the perfor-
mance of BSP’s Guddu
Jamali, who could be
termed as a striking
‘winner or killer’.
Shah Alam a.k.a. Guddu
Jamali, the BSP candi-
date in Azamgarh,
walked away with 2.66
lakh votes, ensuring the
defeat of SP candidate
Dharmendra Yadav who
got 3.04 lakh votes.
The BJP emerged the
winner with Dinesh Lal
Yadav Nirahua getting
3.12 lakh votes.
Clearly
, Jamali’s vote
share ensured SP’s de-
feat and also proved that
he is the biggest vote
puller when it comes to
the Muslim votes in
Azamgarh.
The Jamali factor is
now being cited as an ex-
ample of SP president
Akhilesh Yadav’s politi-
cal short-sightedness
and lack of vision.
If sources are to be be-
lieved, Jamali was ‘in-
sulted’byAkhileshearli-
er this year during the
Assembly elections.
AfterquittingtheBSPin
November last year,
Guddu had met Akh-
ilesh Yadav who report-
edly promised that he
would be given a ticket
for Azamgarh in the As-
semblypolls.ASPleader
said on Monday
, “There-
after, Guddu Jamali
tried several times to
meet Akhilesh, but was
not given an appoint-
ment. An upset Jamali
joined AIMIM in a huff
and contested the As-
sembly polls on AIMIM
ticket. He got over 36,000
votes from the Mubarak
Assemblyconstituency
.”
BSPpresidentMayawati
made the rare gesture of
calling back Guddu Ja-
mali and offered him the
ticket form Azamgarh
for the by-elections.
Mayawati’s intention
was clearly to defeat the
SP and regain lost
groundamongMuslims,
which she has done and
Jamali worked overtime
to avenge the humilia-
tion that he had faced
because of Akhilesh.

Rampur victory gives edge
to BJP for upcoming polls
Gyanendra Kumar Shukla
Lucknow: The suc-
cess of the Rampur
Lok Sabha seat, which
is dominated by Mus-
lim population, is cru-
cial in many ways for
the BJP
. This victory
has not only given the
party a psychological
edge for the upcoming
election challenges,
but has also strength-
ened the confidence of
the party strategists
that if a concerted ef-
fort is made, it is possi-
ble to succeed in de-
molishing the opposi-
tion strongholds.
Apartfromthehard
work of the organiza-
tion, the factors which
played a significant
role behind the BJP’s
victory were the selec-
tion of OBC candidate,
transfer of base vote
bank of BSP in favour
of BJP as well as the
rhetoric of Azam
Khan. Because of this,
the supporters of the
Nawab family
, who
were already miffed
with the decision of
the Congress not to
contest the elections,
turned towards the
BJP candidate. It is
worthmentioningthat
intheyear2014,Dr.Ne-
pal Singh of BJP won
this seat by defeating
Naseer Aham Khan of
SP by 23,485 votes.
Then it was believed
that it was because of
Muslim candidates of
Congress and BSP that
BJP could get victory
as Nawab Kazim Ali
Khan of Congress got
more than 1.5 lakh
votes while Akbar
Hussain of BSP also
managed to garner
81,000 votes. After this,
the SP contested the
2019 elections in alli-
ance with the BSP
,
from this seat SP’s
Azam Khan defeated
BJP candidate Jaya
Prada Nahata by a
margin of over one
lakh votes by securing
5,59,177 votes. Howev-
er, in that election also
BJP got 4, 49,180 votes
which was 42.33 per-
cent of the total votes.
Congress did not par-
ticipate in the by-elec-
tions this time, while
BSP had decided not to
field any candidate
from Rampur seat.
Congress’sfive-term
MLA Nawab Naved
Mian had announced
the support of the BJP
candidate, while a
large chunk of Dalit
voters, who were con-
sidered the base voters
of BSP
, also preferred
to support the BJP
. As
a result, Ghanshyam
Lodhi of BJP got 3
Lakh 67 Thousand 397
votes and defeated
Asim Raza of SP by a
margin of around 42
thousand votes. Politi-
cal experts insist that
the BJP camp, ener-
gized by the victory of
this difficult challenge
from Rampur, will do
its best to win those
seats in Rohilkhand
andthewesternregion
where the party’s per-
formance has been rel-
atively weak.

Lucknow: Trouble is
brewing for two retired
IAS officers in UP. The
Central Bureau of In-

sought the state govern-
ment’s opinion on a
probe into the role of
the retired IAS officers
Alok Ranjan and Deep-

Alok Ranjan was
state chief secretary

CBI sources said the
agency has approached
the state government
for its opinion on inves-

two officers, which has
not been probed as yet.
The CBI has sent a let-
ter to the state’s ap-

state government offi-
cials refused to confirm
or deny the same. The
CBI had started investi-
gation into the case in
2017 on the recommen-

In November 2017,
the CBI took over the
case and filed an FIR
against eight engineers
of the irrigation de-
partment in connection
with the Gomti River
Channelisation Project
and Gomti River Front
Development Project.
The central investi-

sistant Raj Kumar Ya-
dav, two directors of a
private firm associated
with the project, Hi-
manshu Gupta and Ka-

Badri Shrestha.
The project involved
construction of a rub-
ber dam to maintain
its water level, a stadi-
um, an amphitheatre
for 2,000 people, cycle
and jogging tracks, a
play area for children
and a musical foun-

hether it’s
s t r a i g h t ,
wavy, curly,
or frizzy hair,
all are op-
tions based
on the curl
pattern. Each hair type
has its own set of prob-
lems and solutions.
Curly/frizzy hair, on the
other hand, always takes
extra effort to maintain.
If you’ve been having
trouble managing your
curls with your regular
regimen, it’s time to dig
deeper and find the ac-
tual reason for your hair
issues. Moreover, if you
have apparent hair prob-
lems like split ends, dry-
ness, and so on, it’s a sign
that your “Prakriti” (or
harmonious state) has
become unbalanced.
These imbalances, some-
times known as Vikritis,
should prompt you to re-
consider how you care
for your curly hair.
Although curly hair
looks stunning, if kept in
good condition, consist-
ent style, strong cleans-
ers, and incorrect brush-
ing techniques, can all
cause severe damage.
With some help from the
ancient Indian science
of Ayurveda, here are a
few curly hair tips and
treatments to manage
your curls and give your
locks the best mainte-
nance they deserve.
TIPS FOR TAKING CARE OF
CURLY HAIR
 Find a hair care routine
that works for you.
 Never use hot water
on your hair, and don’t
overwash it.
 When the hair is damp,
use wide-toothed
combs to untangle or
comb it.
 By massaging oil regu-
larly, you can keep your
hair nourished and your
scalp moistened.
 Trim your hair regularly
to avoid split ends.
 Hair sprays and mousse
should be avoided.
AYURVEDIC PRODUCTS
SUGGESTED FOR CURLY
HAIR
Curly hair problems can
be solved with natural
ingredients. Ayurvedic
shampoo and conditioner
for curly hair are among
the natural therapies
for curly hair found in
Ayurveda. Make sure to
use products enriched with
natural herbs and plants
such as aloe vera and
herbal oils such as neem,
hibiscus, fenugreek, and
others.
Moisturizing your scalp
with Ayurvedic oils can
assist in renewing hair
growth and add lustre to
your hair. Oil massages
also increase blood
circulation. Regularly
washing the curly hair
with a natural Ayurvedic
shampoo remove debris
and grease, it also helps
to preserve lustre and
health. Besides, use an
Ayurvedic conditioner
that protects your hair
from environmental
stressors and makes it
more manageable after
shampooing. These
ayurvedic hair products
also aid in dandruff
removal.
DOS AND DON’TS FOR
CURLY HAIR
 Wash your hair regularly
to remove dirt and grease,
but don’t overdo it.
 Instead of using towels
to dry, use microfiber
towels.
 Wash your hair with
Ayurvedic shampoo
for curly hair and a
conditioner formulated
specifically for curls.
 When sleeping, use
a satin pillow since it
reduces friction and hair
damage.
 To make your hair more
dry and frizzy, avoid
using hair dryers.
 Every time you wash
your hair, use a natural
conditioner.
Furthermore, your
curls will be healthy and
bouncy with regular
maintenance, but it
won’t happen overnight.
You can, however, gradu-
ally attain your hair
goals with the use of
herbal remedies. The
Ayurvedic approach en-
sures that your hair
heals naturally and that
no additional damage is
created by the use of
harmful substances.

of functioning, but it is an instinct that
takes you in the right or wrong directions.
However, you can only rely upon your in-

sources, the actress opened
up about wanting to do more

When she was asked how
her comic timings evolved as

the most comedy in. In
the recent past, we have
not had any out-and-out
comedy for a female pro-

write better for a fe-

Over the last couple of days, the

  • 1. ABANDONING OF WIDOWS A SOCIAL EVIL, A BLOT ON THE CULTURE OF OUR COUNTRY: PRESIDENT IN VRINDAVAN Mathura (PTI): The practice of widows be- ing abandoned by their sons and relatives is a social evil and a blot on the country’s culture, President Ram Nath Ko- vind said on Monday and advocated their re- marriage and economic independence. Interacting with in- mates of Krishna Kutir, ahomeforwidows, inthe temple town of Vrinda- van here, the President commended the effort to establish the facility but said that there should be no need for such shelter homes in society . “There have been many exam- pleswhereinsonsorfam- ily members of many womenleftthemasdesti- tute in Vrindavan and never came back to even enquire about their con- dition,” he said. “This social evil is a blot on the culture of our country . Thesoonerthisstigmais removed, the better.” He compared such treatment of widows to social evils like child marriage, satianddowry . “My view is that there shouldbenoneedforthe construction of shelter homes like ‘Krishna Kutir’insociety .Instead, efforts should be made towards measures like remarriage, economic independence, share in family property , protec- tion of social and moral rights of destitute wom- en,” the President said. Kovind also said that it has been seen that af- ter the death of a wom- an’s husband, the atti- tude of not only that family but of the society changes towards her. “We have to come for- ward and awaken the society to stop the ne- glect faced by widows. From time to time many saintsandsocialreform- ers have made efforts to improve the difficult life of such despised moth- ers and sisters,” he said. “Ialsoappealtoallthe responsible citizens of the society that these mothers who have moved away from social lifeshouldbeincludedin the mainstream of the society . Their contact with society should be increased. Their partici- pation in Teej, other fes- tivalsandfairsshouldbe encouraged,” he said. ADVOCATING REMARRIAGE AND ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE President Ram Nath Kovind with Governor Anandiben Patel and CM Yogi Adityanath at Krishna Kutir, an ashram for widows, in Vrindavan on Monday. MAHA SANKAT CONTINUES Relief for Shinde camp, SC orders status quo till July 11 1 The Supreme Court on Monday extended time granted by Dy Speaker of Maha Legislative Assembly Narhari Zirwal to the dissident Shiv Sena MLAs, including Eknath Shinde, to reply to a notice on petition seeking their disqualification till 5.30 pm on July 12. 2 A vacation bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice JB Pardiwala that issued notice on 2 petitions — one by dissident leader Shinde, other by 15 dissident MLAs who had been served disqualification notices — fixed July 11 to hear again. 3 Why didn’t you go to High Court: Top court asks Sena rebels; Lawyer responded: Threats to us and our families make it non-conducive to pursue cases in Mumbai. 4 Shortly after the court verdict, Shinde tweeted, “This is the victory of the Hindutva emperor Balasaheb Thackeray’s Hindutva and the thoughts of Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Saheb ..!” 5 Uddhav faction contended that there should be no trust vote till pending issues are decided and they should be free to approach court if the rebels seek a floor test. “Let us not create confusion on something for which there is no foundation yet,” responded the court. KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM HEARING Mumbai: Maharashtra min- ister Aaditya Thackeray on Monday threw another dare at rebel Shiv Sena leaders to “come face to face” and tell him what they feel is wrong. Led by his father Uddhav, govt and party are facing a mutiny by Shinde’s fac- tion, which has around 40 of 55 Sena MLAs. Mumbai: Maha CM Uddhav Thackeray, who is facing a massive mutiny in Sena ranks, has stripped 9 rebel ministers of their portfolios. Among these 9 are 5 cabinet mins and 4 MoS. Responsi- bilities have been redistributed so that “public welfare work did not stall”, an order said. A core committee meeting of Maha BJP was held at the residence of Devendra Fadnavis, to discuss the present political situation in state. BJP’s Sudhir Mungantiwar said a core team will meet once again and take a decision in the interest of the people of Maha. Mumbai: Sena’s Sanjay Raut, among most vociferous backers of Maha CM Uddhav amid a revolt in party, has been summoned by ED in Mumbai for questioning today in a case of alleged money laundering. Raut, a RS member, responded with charge that “this is a conspiracy to stop me”. Team Thackeray has been saying that mutiny led by Shinde is a result of “pressure of ED, CBI” under BJP-led central government. TRAITORS NEVER WIN: AADITYA 9 REBEL MINS STRIPPED OF POSTS FADNAVIS HOLDS MEETING ED SUMMONS SANJAY RAUT; “ARREST ME,” HE RETORTS Sanjay Raut @rautsanjay61 I just came to know that the ED has summoned me. Good! There are big political developments in Maha- rashtra. We, Balasaheb’s Shivsainiks are fighting a big battle. This is a conspiracy to stop me. Though Tiwari who represents North-East Delhi, and Gorakhpur MP Kishan are already popular faces in the cor- ridors of power, Nira- hua is the latest to make his entry by winning Azamgarh Lok Sabha bypoll, the results of which were announced on Sunday. The three stars of the Bhojpuri film industry had worked together in the movie “Ganga Ja- muna Saraswati” re- leased in 2013. Though there might be other factors also for Nirahua winning the Azamgarh seat, his di- rect attack in his now popular style among the masses because of his several outings in the Bhojpuri cinema with Akhilesh hue far- ar Nirahua datal rahe (Akhilesh is abscond- ing, Nirahua is digging his heels in ) helped him get prompt reaction during his campaign trail. NIRAHUA HERO CM YOGI’S KANYA SUMANGALA SCHEME MAKING A DIFFERENCE First India Bureau Lucknow: Aimed at all- round welfare and up- liftment of the female child, Yogi Adityanath government’s flagship scheme ‘Mukhya Man- tri Kanya Sumangala Yojana’ has come a long way to secure financial independence and secu- rity for daughters hail- ing from weaker sec- tions in the state. And Shazia, a resi- dent of village Khaju- ria, district Rampur, has set the example for others by becoming not only capable enough to provide quality educa- tion to her daughters but also successfully discharge her duties as a responsible parent. “My husband Mohd Sal- man’s meagre income made it difficult for us to raise our children re- sponsibly. As parents we wanted to educate our two daughters — Zeenat and Seema — equally well as our son, however, it was nearly impossible for us to do so,” said Shazia. Shazia’s struggles came to an end when she at- tended a women aware- ness programme organ- ised by Department of Women and Child De- velopment, where she was enlightened of various govt schemes aimed at benefiting low- income families. “As soon as I was in- formed about Mukhya Mantri Kanya Suman- gala scheme, I got both my daughters regis- tered, which helped me become a better parent and fuflil the dreams and aspirations of my daughters by giving them good education, and better health care facilities,” said Shazia while expressing grati- tude to CM Yogi. The scheme is an opportunity for parents to secure financial independence of daughters Awareness programmes are being organised to educate women about govt schemes CM Yogi addresses the gathering at Krishna Kutir Ashray Sadan in Mathura. She claimed that she tried to lodge a com- plaint with cops but no action was taken, ap- parently because of the influence that the SP MLA wields. “I met of- ficials in CM’s office and police commission- er and only then was my case registered,” she informed. Ambreen said she has two children. In the end it boils down to the kind of democracy the youth should sustain and strengthen. With authoritarian democracies emerging, democracy has ac- quired a new meaning which is different from the one contained in Magna Carta, providing for individual rights and liberties. Russia is believed to be a demo- cratic country but is it? A Freedom House report said that democracy is in a crisis with the deterioration in politi- cal rights and civil liberties, es- pecially those of minorities, globally. The report said that even the United States “retreat- ed from its role… as a champion and exemplar of democracy”. Indian democracy is also said to be under threat. The political costsof invadingUkrainefour monthsbackareyettobeseen, except that for the first time since 2018 Russia has default- ed on foreign debt repayment because the West has blocked payment routes of its credi- tors. To Russians who are fac- ing double-digit inflation and severe economic contraction, this may not bother much. The debt repayment de- fault is much due to the West as Russia has enough funds to repay its debt and service interest thereon. Western countries who presumed that they would be able to arm- twist Russia with sanctions must be realizing their poor estimation of Russia which continues to pound and gain territory in Ukraine. West- ern arms supplies are still not enough for Ukraine to take on its mighty neighbour which is playing coy about any further involvement. To top it all, Ukraine’s mem- bershipof theEuropeanUnion is yet to come through. Presi- dent Zelensky applied for the EU on February 28, 2022 with the request that it should be processedundera“newspecial procedure”. These alternative buyers are helping Russian exports to stay at the 2021 level of USD 494 billion U A LOT OF DRAMA LIES AHEAD IN MAHARASHTRA The BJP is winning, and NCP is waiting for Sena’s suicidal step so that it emerges unscathed F If the BJP can’t forget the early morning swearing-in of Devendra Fadnavis and his exit in the next few hours, the Sena would never forgive the BJP for the present round of humiliation. The longer the stalemate continues, both inside Assembly and out in courts, the more it would benefit the anti- Sena forces. Even the BJP may also want that situation to linger on – Shinde is expendable, after all, the real fight is with the Thackerays. Then BJP has Raj Thackeray as well. MNS chief is craving to hit back at his cousin for his own insult 17 years ago or now, the ultimate victor in Maharashtra politics has been the BJP. It should be al- lowed to hold some sort of a medal for finally defeating theShivSenaatitsowngame. After Raj Thackeray’s exit from the Sena in 2006 – post two other previous revolts – and Eknath Shinde’s current round of chicanery, Shiv Sena must be shedding copi- ous tears. As ex-CM Deven- dra Fadnavis counts the days of the MVA government, Ud- dhav Thackeray looks for some reassuring observa- tions from SC. The BJP has attained its first objective of shaking the foundation of the three-way ruling alliance of Shiv Sena, NCP , and the Con- gress, without having to show its hand in the Shiv Sena’s “intraparty” affairs. Of the two Hindutva cous- ins – the BJP and Shiv Sena – the latter has been more vi- cious in its tactic. From be- ing a champion of the ‘son of the soil’ and Maratha pride, it successfully graduated to project itself as the spokes- person for the Hindus. It re- mained beholden to Balasa- heb Thackeray who took full advantage of the politics of opportunism of the Congress and created a ‘larger than life’ image of himself. On the contrary, the BJP has had a one-point agenda: ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’. By that, it wants to uproot all that has even shades of Con- gress in it – good or bad – in the name of shedding ad- hocism.Thepartyremainson the lookout for Shinde’s and suchlike. It cleverly separates Congress from those with only ambition to chase, such as Hardik Patel. It makes a case for itself as a product of victimhood. It has succeeded because for people, every shining rhetoric is worth its weight in gold to be expended tobuymoreof it.TheBJPhas plenty of unspent rhetoric, the Congress has none and regional parties are too busy with their own regional aspi- rations; look at the non-Hindi political landscape. Sharad Pawar didn’t go off the tangent when he learnt of the Shinde episode for the first time. He reportedly asked:“Didn’ttheyhavesome intel about it?” An aging Pa- warhashadlimitations–ever since he left Sonia Gandhi way back in 1999 to float his own NCP. For him, BJP was hardly to blame as much as Shiv Sena, which has com- plained several times of NCP expanding its base at the cost of Shiv Sena. Therefore, Pa- war might have removed an irritant in the MVA dispensa- tion. Yet, the question is which Shiv Sena we are talk- ing about – the new one led by Shinde or the original care- taker Uddhav. The NCP objec- tive right now is to delay the MVA fall. Given that the Su- preme Court has come into the picture and soon the mat- ter will land up in the high court, Pawar has ensured the NCP remains unscathed and that the entire blame for the MVA collapse – if it comes to that – should shift to the Sena. One fact that has emerged from a changing India is the rise of intense competitive politics, where politicians of all hues want things done asap. The positive part of it is restless voters stay engaged, but the negative is it gives rise to vendetta politics. The current Sena episode has its roots in the period of Covid-induced lockdown. It is fairlywellknownthatthepan- demic increased the commu- nication gap between Uddhav and his MLAs, especially those with rural background. The Shiv Sena remained fo- cused on Mumbai and the politics of cash-rich Brihan- mumbai Municipal Corpora- tion (BMC). Eknath Shinde, theThanestrongman, wasthe onetowhomallMLAscongre- gated.Shindewasalreadyfeel- ing neglected with the rise of Aaditya Thackeray and San- jay Raut. Shinde struck when his route to Surat and Guwa- hati became clear as most of his loyal MLAs from rural ar- eas were ready to go with him. We must accept we are past political correctness and mo- rality in the relentless battle for supremacy of political forces. If the BJP can’t forget theearlymorningswearing-in of Devendra Fadnavis and his exit in the next few hours, the Sena would never forgive the BJP for the present round of humiliation. The longer the stalemate continues, both in- side the Assembly and out in courts, the more it would ben- efit the anti-Sena forces. Even the BJP may also want that situation to linger on – Shinde isexpendable, afterall, thereal fight is with the Thackerays. Mahesh Sharma Mumbai: After the po- litical developments in Maharashtra, there have been several re- ports that the Chief Minister knew for months that prepara- tions for a rebellion were being made in his party. NCP supremo Sharad Pawar was quot- ed as saying that he had told Uddhav Thackeray a month ago that all is not well inside Shiv Sena and he should fix his house. Journalists also say that there was a CID report that Eknath Shinde is angry and he is uniting the MLAs. The question is that when everyone had the news and Chief Minis- ter Uddhav Thackeray also knew, then why were the disgruntled lot ‘managed’ in time? One reason for this is being told the working style of the Thackeray family . In front of the Thackeray family, the status of a party leader is not more than that of a peon. Meanwhile, Uddhav Thackeray’s health was deteriorating, due to which he stayed away from his leaders. Also a big reason is that Shiv Sena has no manager. Before Maha Vikas Aghadi was formed or Uddhav Thackeray became the Chief Minister, Sharad Pawar was managing the affairs from behind the curtain. Even later, Pawar’s management continued to work in maintaining the coali- tion government. For the first time there was a crisis in the Shiv Sena and it went out of con- trol because in the last two decades, the Shiv Sena did not find any manager. Its top leader, the Thackeray family, believed that no Shiv Sainik could even think of being a rebel. In the Bal Thackeray era, Shiv Sena had leaders like Manohar Joshi, Chhagan Bhujbal and NarayanRanewhowere also popular and also ex- pert in management. After the departure of Bhujbal and Rane, there is just Sanjay Raut left, but he is also the leader and spokesperson who merely makes state- ments and is not a ‘man- ager’. Aaditya Thacker- ay was believed to be able to handle the man- agement but the arro- gance and feeling of be- ing Bal Thackeray’s grandson keeps him away from party leaders and workers. AIADMK calls for high- level meet; illegal: OPS Chennai (ANI): Ahead of the meeting of top office-bearers of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Monday at the party’s head of- fice in Chennai on Mon- day, AIADMK coordina- tor O Panneerselvam has said that the meet- ing is a violation of the party by-law. Pannerselvam or OPS as he is known, added that meetings could be convened only with the approval of both coordinator and co-coordinator. This comes amid the battle for single leadership in the AIADMK between former Tamil Nadu chief minister and par- ty co-coordinator Edap- padi K Palaniswami (EPS) and his former deputy CM and coordi- nator O Panneerseve- lam (OPS). In a statement, OPS, who is the treasurer of the party said that since as a coordinator of the AIADMK he had not given any approval to the meeting and in such a case if the meeting is convened, it will be in violation of the rule.Ac- cordingly, any meeting must be convened with the consent of both par- ties. That per- haps is the biggest ques- tion in the current po- litical clime of the na- tion. In the Rajya Sabha elections, he made the third BJP candidate win by juggling five to six votes. After that, Fadnavis defeated Ma- havikas Aghadi by chal- lenging it in the Legisla- tive Council elections. He had announced after the Rajya Sabha elec- tions that he would give a bigger blow in the election of the Legisla- tive Council and proved his word as he garnered 20 additional votes to win the fifth seat in the Legislative Council. In this, only three MLAs of Shiv Sena en- gaged in cross-voting, but now more than a dozen of its MLAs have turned rebel. Informed sources say that the re- bel leaders of Shiv Sena had told Fadnavis that they would support him if he wins the fifth seat in the Legislative Coun- cil on his own. Fadnavis won the fifth seat with- out the help of the rebel Shiv Sena MLAs. Apart from three MLAs each from Shiv Sena and Congress, he also added MLAs of 15 independ- ents and smaller par- ties, who were support- ing the Mahavikas Aghadi government till now. It was only after this that Eknath Shinde and other MLAs got the courage to revolt. So the question is, who is helping Fadnavis in this whole campaign? According to informed sources, he is getting di- rect or indirect help from Sharad Pawar or Ajit Pawar, because Maha Vikas Aghadi has a huge majority in the state and till some time ago the entire command was in the hands of the ruling coalition. Some time back Sharad Pa- war had met Prime Min- ister Narendra Modi. It was then said that they had gone to talk about the action being taken against their leaders and the pending names of the nominated mem- bers in the Legislative Council. But it was only after that meeting that the equation started chang- ing in Maharashtra. The command has passed from the hands of the ruling coalition to the hands of Fad- navis. Till some time back, Fadnavis seemed isolated even in his own party but now he has emerged as the most powerful leader in Ma- harashtra. He won an additional seat each in both the Rajya Sabha and the Legislative Council. First he gave a blow to Shiv Sena and then to Congress. Pa- war’s party NCP did not suffer in both the elec- tions and now after the rebellion within Shiv Sena, the possibility of him becoming the Chief Minister is visible. Who helped Fadnavis in the ‘political rupture’ in Maharashtra? Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. According to officials, the technology for which the researchers have also been granted a patent has been developed keeping in view the scarcity of fresh vegetables or agricultural produce and the lack of effective organic waste management in high-altitude areas like the Ladakh region. “The high altitude areas pose some crucial problems when it comes to availability of fresh produce and organic waste management, especially for our defence forces that require a good amount of fresh produce in their daily diet. Due to the climate and weather conditions, it is difficult to avail fresh produce year-long,” said Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur. Hence, this novel technology of root zone heating system and vermi-bed method developed by the team at our institute is a significant step towards helping especially our defence forces deployed there with fresh vegetable supply and a solution to effectively mitigate organic waste,” he added. According to the team, the basic premise of the technology is a greenhouse (polyhouse) plantation of vegetables and a provision of the heating root zone of the plants. The root zone heating is scientifically studied and modelled by laying a network of GI (Galvanised Iron) pipes below the ground carrying solar-heated water and by integrating aluminium sheet fins with the buried GI pipes to enhance the heat transfer. A significant temperature increase (7 degrees Celsius to 18 degrees Celsius) in soil was achieved during the trial, depending upon the temperature of hot water being flown inside the GI pipes. This raised temperature helped plants grow in a faster and healthier way than the plants grown outside at relatively low temperatures. Such a system in high altitude areas can better the cropping cycle to produce fresh vegetables even in winter conditions,” said Anubha Goel, Professor at IIT Kanpur’s Department of Civil Engineering. —PTI MAN COMMITS SUICIDE OVER LOVE AFFAIR IN BHADOHI VILLAGE A28-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in a village here consuming some poisonous substance, police on Monday said. Shah Alam a.k.a. Guddu Jamali, the BSP candi- date in Azamgarh, walked away with 2.66 lakh votes, ensuring the defeat of SP candidate Dharmendra Yadav who got 3.04 lakh votes. The BJP emerged the winner with Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua getting 3.12 lakh votes. Clearly , Jamali’s vote share ensured SP’s de- feat and also proved that he is the biggest vote puller when it comes to the Muslim votes in Azamgarh. The Jamali factor is now being cited as an ex- ample of SP president Akhilesh Yadav’s politi- cal short-sightedness and lack of vision. If sources are to be be- lieved, Jamali was ‘in- sulted’byAkhileshearli- er this year during the Assembly elections. AfterquittingtheBSPin November last year, Guddu had met Akh- ilesh Yadav who report- edly promised that he would be given a ticket for Azamgarh in the As- semblypolls.ASPleader said on Monday , “There- after, Guddu Jamali tried several times to meet Akhilesh, but was not given an appoint- ment. An upset Jamali joined AIMIM in a huff and contested the As- sembly polls on AIMIM ticket. He got over 36,000 votes from the Mubarak Assemblyconstituency .” BSPpresidentMayawati made the rare gesture of calling back Guddu Ja- mali and offered him the ticket form Azamgarh for the by-elections. Mayawati’s intention was clearly to defeat the SP and regain lost groundamongMuslims, which she has done and Jamali worked overtime to avenge the humilia- tion that he had faced because of Akhilesh. This victory has not only given the party a psychological edge for the upcoming election challenges, but has also strength- ened the confidence of the party strategists that if a concerted ef- fort is made, it is possi- ble to succeed in de- molishing the opposi- tion strongholds. Apartfromthehard work of the organiza- tion, the factors which played a significant role behind the BJP’s victory were the selec- tion of OBC candidate, transfer of base vote bank of BSP in favour of BJP as well as the rhetoric of Azam Khan. Because of this, the supporters of the Nawab family , who were already miffed with the decision of the Congress not to contest the elections, turned towards the BJP candidate. It is worthmentioningthat intheyear2014,Dr.Ne- pal Singh of BJP won this seat by defeating Naseer Aham Khan of SP by 23,485 votes. Then it was believed that it was because of Muslim candidates of Congress and BSP that BJP could get victory as Nawab Kazim Ali Khan of Congress got more than 1.5 lakh votes while Akbar Hussain of BSP also managed to garner 81,000 votes. After this, the SP contested the 2019 elections in alli- ance with the BSP , from this seat SP’s Azam Khan defeated BJP candidate Jaya Prada Nahata by a margin of over one lakh votes by securing 5,59,177 votes. Howev- er, in that election also BJP got 4, 49,180 votes which was 42.33 per- cent of the total votes. Congress did not par- ticipate in the by-elec- tions this time, while BSP had decided not to field any candidate from Rampur seat. Congress’sfive-term MLA Nawab Naved Mian had announced the support of the BJP candidate, while a large chunk of Dalit voters, who were con- sidered the base voters of BSP , also preferred to support the BJP . As a result, Ghanshyam Lodhi of BJP got 3 Lakh 67 Thousand 397 votes and defeated Asim Raza of SP by a margin of around 42 thousand votes. Politi- cal experts insist that the BJP camp, ener- gized by the victory of this difficult challenge from Rampur, will do its best to win those seats in Rohilkhand andthewesternregion where the party’s per- formance has been rel- atively weak. Disagree- ments on the family front are foreseen. Your intuition will save you from a tricky spot today. hether it’s s t r a i g h t , wavy, curly, or frizzy hair, all are op- tions based on the curl pattern. Each hair type has its own set of prob- lems and solutions. Curly/frizzy hair, on the other hand, always takes extra effort to maintain. If you’ve been having trouble managing your curls with your regular regimen, it’s time to dig deeper and find the ac- tual reason for your hair issues. Moreover, if you have apparent hair prob- lems like split ends, dry- ness, and so on, it’s a sign that your “Prakriti” (or harmonious state) has become unbalanced. These imbalances, some- times known as Vikritis, should prompt you to re- consider how you care for your curly hair. Although curly hair looks stunning, if kept in good condition, consist- ent style, strong cleans- ers, and incorrect brush- ing techniques, can all cause severe damage. With some help from the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda, here are a few curly hair tips and treatments to manage your curls and give your locks the best mainte- nance they deserve. TIPS FOR TAKING CARE OF CURLY HAIR  Find a hair care routine that works for you.  Never use hot water on your hair, and don’t overwash it.  When the hair is damp, use wide-toothed combs to untangle or comb it.  By massaging oil regu- larly, you can keep your hair nourished and your scalp moistened.  Trim your hair regularly to avoid split ends.  Hair sprays and mousse should be avoided. AYURVEDIC PRODUCTS SUGGESTED FOR CURLY HAIR Curly hair problems can be solved with natural ingredients. Ayurvedic shampoo and conditioner for curly hair are among the natural therapies for curly hair found in Ayurveda. Make sure to use products enriched with natural herbs and plants such as aloe vera and herbal oils such as neem, hibiscus, fenugreek, and others. Moisturizing your scalp with Ayurvedic oils can assist in renewing hair growth and add lustre to your hair. Oil massages also increase blood circulation. Regularly washing the curly hair with a natural Ayurvedic shampoo remove debris and grease, it also helps to preserve lustre and health. Besides, use an Ayurvedic conditioner that protects your hair from environmental stressors and makes it more manageable after shampooing. These ayurvedic hair products also aid in dandruff removal. DOS AND DON’TS FOR CURLY HAIR  Wash your hair regularly to remove dirt and grease, but don’t overdo it.  Instead of using towels to dry, use microfiber towels.  Wash your hair with Ayurvedic shampoo for curly hair and a conditioner formulated specifically for curls.  When sleeping, use a satin pillow since it reduces friction and hair damage.  To make your hair more dry and frizzy, avoid using hair dryers.  Every time you wash your hair, use a natural conditioner. Furthermore, your curls will be healthy and bouncy with regular maintenance, but it won’t happen overnight. You can, however, gradu- ally attain your hair goals with the use of herbal remedies. The Ayurvedic approach en- sures that your hair heals naturally and that no additional damage is created by the use of harmful substances.
