“Refinery was stopped

We are number-1 in edu-

The responsibility of eve-

mines and minerals. We
will not stop here, there is
a limit to government
jobs. Youth will not have
to go out in the coming
times. Youth, women, la-

people of all classes. BJP

quote by Canadian author
and motivational speaker
BrianTracy is apt for crick-
et as well. Every team
needs those players who
bring an edge to their set
up. With the comeback of
Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh
Krishna, Team India now
has the much needed fire-
power in their bowling at-
tack. Both put up a fine
display of fast bowling in
the Ireland T20 series and
helped India to a 2-0 series
win. While fans feel re-
lieved with the pace battery
shaping up nicely, the co-
nundrum over the spin
combination continues as
Indian selectors picked
only a trio of left arm spin-
ners for Asia Cup!
It was expected to be an
easy outing for Team India
in Ireland and the results
were on the same lines. But
the series was keenly
watched for the much-an-
ticipated comeback of pace
spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah.
He was named the captain
of the squad and turned in
terrific spells of 2 for 24
and 2 for 15 in the two
matches. While the third
match was abandoned due
to rain, the selectors had
enough reasons to smile
and pick him for the Asia
Cup team. The absence of
the 29-year-old ‘Boom
Boom’ has been a critical
factor in India’s losses in
major competitions during
the past year. A fully-fit
Bumrah now implies that
India will go into theWorld
Cup with its biggest match-
winner adding a sharp edge
to Rohit Sharma’s bowling
armoury.
The Ireland trip also saw
Prasidh Krishna making an
impressive return. Before
his injury he was seen as
the answer to India’s mid-
dle over woes where they
had failed to pick up wick-
ets in the last few years.
Against Ireland, Prasidh
cranked up at high pace
and bowled at full tilt to
ease any worries around
his full recovery. In the two
matches he not only hur-
ried the Irish batsmen but
and also got awkward
bounce out of very good
batting pitches. He took 2
for 29 and 2 for 32 in his
spells in the couple of
matches and looked all set
to be India’s X-factor for
Asia Cup and then World
Cup.Hisheightandbounce
provide a special dimen-
sion to India’s pace battery.
With Bumrah, Shami, Siraj
and Krishna all fit, India
could have a formidable
pace attack that could trou-
ble the best teams in the
ODI World Cup.
While the pace arsenal is
getting into good shape,
the spin attack is in a bit of
a mess. For the Asia Cup,
Chahal,Ashwin and Wash-
ington Sundar are all miss-
ing. Instead, India has
three left arm spinners –
Jadeja, Axar and Kuldeep.
In particular, not giving
any offie a chance seems a
tactical blunder that could
cost India heavily in games
with teams which have a
number of left-hand bats-
men. There were murmurs
that with his handy batting,
Ashwin could figure in the
Asia Cup squad but it
wasn’t to be so.
The series also saw the
emergence of Rinku Singh
and Ruturaj Gaikwad on
the international stage.
Both continued their IPL
heroics. In the first match
Ruturaj remained unbeaten
on 19 as the rain cut off
play and India won on D/L
calculations. But in the
second game he hit 58 off
43 balls to showcase his
worth in the Indian setup.
Meanwhile though he
didn’t bat in the first game,
Rinku, hit 38 off 21 balls
with 3 sixes and was in-
strumental in India getting
to a challenging total in the
second game.
Next up for India is the
Asia Cup challenge. There
is special buzz over the re-
turn of Shreyas Iyer and
KLRahul. Both could pro-
vide answers to India’s
batting woes at No 4 and 5.
KL Rahul’s fitness is still a
worry and if he doesn’t
play the first few games,
Ishan Kishan gets more
match time and an oppor-
tunity to cement his place
in the team. The return of
Rohit and Virat after a
brief break will help Team
India fine-tune its World
Cup preparations. Their
being in form is most criti-
cal for India’s batting
might revolves around
these two superstars.
With injury concerns
now slowly fading and key
players returning to the
squad, India has a far bet-
ter chance of success at
Asia Cup. Team India will
be mighty keen to do well
not only to avenge their
losses in the previous Asia
Cup but also to get into a
positive mind-frame ahead
of the World Cup. In that
respect, the next few
games are important as In-
dia finetunes its batting-
bowling combinations to
gun for World Cup glory
once again after the 2011
victory!

There is not yet definitive

Moscow: The Kremlin said on Friday that Western
suggestions that the Wagner mercenary boss
Yevgeny Prigozhin had been killed on its orders
were an “absolute lie” and declined to definitively confirm
his death, citing the need to wait for test results. Presi-
dent Vladimir Putin on Thursday sent his condolences to

mercenary leader’s plane crashed on Wednesday evening
with no survivors two months after he led a mutiny against
army chiefs. Vladimir Putin cited “preliminary information”
as indicating that Yevgeny Prigozhin and his top associates
in the Wagner mercenary group had been killed. Russian
investigators have opened a probe into what happened,
but have not yet said what they suspect caused the plane
to suddenly fall from the sky northwest of Moscow.

that most of the outfits in

such that they can’t be

useful to the people.
“The material is chang-

CM Ashok Gehlot while
addressing a review meet
of law order at Police
Headquarters on Friday,
said that Rajasthan ranks
first in entire country in
terms of response time
against crimes. “Our
government is making
every possible effort and
innovation to keep the
law order strong in
State and to deal with the
challenges ahead. The
responsibility of main-
taining law and order and
providing justice to vic-
tims is the duty of police.
Strict action like dismiss-
al of police officers and
employees is also being
taken if they are found
involved with criminals.
Under Mission-2030, a
roadmap for the police
department will be pre-
pared for the year 2030,”
the Chief Minister said.
It was informed in the
meeting that the average
time taken for research is
continuously decreasing.
The average investiga-
tion time in rape cases
has come down from 208
days in 2017 to 59 days
now. In SC-ST cases, it
has come down from 128
days in the year 2019 to
65 days now. Rajasthan
is leading state in nation
with a conviction rate of
45.2 % in women atroci-
ties cases. CM directed
officers to monitor hate-
ful and violent content
that people who help in
catching the criminals
are being encouraged. He
directed officials to ad-
dress plaints sensitively.
When Indira...
There is unity in our party.
They are boasting, Con-
gress government will be
formed in all the three
states. Atmosphere is
changing in nation as ED,
CBI working on centre’s
behest and public knows
it. No matter how much
they scare us, we are not
afraid, we welcome them.
We challenge them to
take action, but do it hon-
estly,” he said, further
adding, “What should be
the long term vision in? I
never said that I will be
the CM. Our goal is to
reach the vision, we have
many schemes. Rajasthan
is being praised all over
the world. We made law
for delivery boy, which
was praised. We stand
with the people.”
Gehlot said that, public
believes the words of
PM. “He closed the refin-
ery, I didn’t stop his work.
I am taking his work for-
ward, Vasundhara ji told
something else to the PM.
Union Mins are doing
scams. MP has built its
own dams while Raj govt
had given NOC. These
people cheat public. I al-
ways sit in PM’s meeting.
Does the State’s CM not
have the right to speak for
2 minutes? Still we wel-
come him, I understand
the dignity of PM’s post.
Earlier, when President
used to go on visits, he
used to take advice of
States. Nowadays, every-
one visits according to
their own,” he said.
Reflecting on unity in
Cong, CM said, “The
High Command takes a
decision, everyone obeys
it. Everyone is united.
There is discipline in par-
ty, democracy is in dan-
ger. Journos are being
accused. If you raise your
voice, action will be tak-
en against you. Indira
Gandhi kept the nation
united. ISRO was found-
ed by her. These people
have forgotten all, their
name is in history. These
people want to erase her
name. How will the fu-
ture generation remember
you? These people are
playing a very dangerous
game. Indira Gandhi her-
self had lost the polls. No
one should have this illu-
sion, even Modi ji
shouldn’t have it.”

Lok Sabha Speaker

The event, held at the

In an interview to an
English newspaper, CM
Ashok Gehlot has said
that he is confident that
he will be able to win as
big as in 2008 when the
Congress got 153 seats.
He also indicated the end
of confrontation with
Sachin Pilot.
It was because of the
confrontation with Pilot
that he couldn’t become
Cong’s National Presi
last year. In a related
question, Gehlot denied
that he gave more impor-
tance to CM’s post than
that of National Presi-
dent. When asked wheth-
er he regretted not ac-
cepting the offer to be-
come Cong Prez, Gehlot
said, “I was ready for
this. It is a very prestig-
ious post. Who wouldn’t
want to be Congress
President? Circumstanc-
es became such that I
couldn’t become. It is a
misconception that I
wanted to be the CM and
not the party chief. This
is totally wrong. Sonia
Gandhi knows the truth,
I told her everything. I
don’t want to get into it
because now all of us
should fight polls togeth-
er. Though I wanted to
become the party chief
and it is a hundred times
bigger post than the CM.
I still feel that I could
have become the party

Jagat Prakash Nadda @JPNadda he key to success is to develop a w i n n i n g edge.” This quote by Canadian author and motivational speaker BrianTracy is apt for crick- et as well. Every team needs those players who bring an edge to their set up. With the comeback of Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, Team India now has the much needed fire- power in their bowling at- tack. Both put up a fine display of fast bowling in the Ireland T20 series and helped India to a 2-0 series win. While fans feel re- lieved with the pace battery shaping up nicely, the co- nundrum over the spin combination continues as Indian selectors picked only a trio of left arm spin- ners for Asia Cup! It was expected to be an easy outing for Team India in Ireland and the results were on the same lines. But the series was keenly watched for the much-an- ticipated comeback of pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah. He was named the captain of the squad and turned in terrific spells of 2 for 24 and 2 for 15 in the two matches. While the third match was abandoned due to rain, the selectors had enough reasons to smile and pick him for the Asia Cup team. The absence of the 29-year-old ‘Boom Boom’ has been a critical factor in India’s losses in major competitions during the past year. A fully-fit Bumrah now implies that India will go into theWorld Cup with its biggest match- winner adding a sharp edge to Rohit Sharma’s bowling armoury. The Ireland trip also saw Prasidh Krishna making an impressive return. Before his injury he was seen as the answer to India’s mid- dle over woes where they had failed to pick up wick- ets in the last few years. Against Ireland, Prasidh cranked up at high pace and bowled at full tilt to ease any worries around his full recovery. In the two matches he not only hur- ried the Irish batsmen but and also got awkward bounce out of very good batting pitches. He took 2 for 29 and 2 for 32 in his spells in the couple of matches and looked all set to be India’s X-factor for Asia Cup and then World Cup.Hisheightandbounce provide a special dimen- sion to India’s pace battery. With Bumrah, Shami, Siraj and Krishna all fit, India could have a formidable pace attack that could trou- ble the best teams in the ODI World Cup. While the pace arsenal is getting into good shape, the spin attack is in a bit of a mess. For the Asia Cup, Chahal,Ashwin and Wash- ington Sundar are all miss- ing. Instead, India has three left arm spinners – Jadeja, Axar and Kuldeep. In particular, not giving any offie a chance seems a tactical blunder that could cost India heavily in games with teams which have a number of left-hand bats- men. There were murmurs that with his handy batting, Ashwin could figure in the Asia Cup squad but it wasn’t to be so. The series also saw the emergence of Rinku Singh and Ruturaj Gaikwad on the international stage. Both continued their IPL heroics. In the first match Ruturaj remained unbeaten on 19 as the rain cut off play and India won on D/L calculations. But in the second game he hit 58 off 43 balls to showcase his worth in the Indian setup. Meanwhile though he didn’t bat in the first game, Rinku, hit 38 off 21 balls with 3 sixes and was in- strumental in India getting to a challenging total in the second game. Next up for India is the Asia Cup challenge. There is special buzz over the re- turn of Shreyas Iyer and KLRahul. Both could pro- vide answers to India’s batting woes at No 4 and 5. KL Rahul’s fitness is still a worry and if he doesn’t play the first few games, Ishan Kishan gets more match time and an oppor- tunity to cement his place in the team. The return of Rohit and Virat after a brief break will help Team India fine-tune its World Cup preparations. Their being in form is most criti- cal for India’s batting might revolves around these two superstars. With injury concerns now slowly fading and key players returning to the squad, India has a far bet- ter chance of success at Asia Cup. Team India will be mighty keen to do well not only to avenge their losses in the previous Asia Cup but also to get into a positive mind-frame ahead of the World Cup. In that respect, the next few games are important as In- dia finetunes its batting- bowling combinations to gun for World Cup glory once again after the 2011 victory! THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL TACTICAL BLUNDER While the pace arsenal is getting into good shape, the spin attack is in a bit of a mess. By qualifying for the Candidates tournament, to be played in Canada in April 2024, Pragg is following in Anand’s footsteps. The Candi- date winner will qualify to challenge Ding Liren of China, the reigning world champion. King Magnus finds D. Gukesh, who is only 17, as “the strongest classical player right now” and de- scribed his game with the Indian as “his best game in the event”, the just concluded Chess World Cup. Pragg acknowledges that he needs to work on his classical games. Besides Pragg and Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi and Vidit Gujarathi also reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup, making it a historic moment for Indian chess. For the present, it is Carlsen who is King. T onald Trump has opened a sordid chapter in American history by becoming the first serv- ing or former president who had his criminal mug shot taken after being booked for conspiracy to overturn 2020 elections in Georgia, Atlanta. He has been charged on 13 counts. In the Fulton County Jail records Trump has been booked as Inmate No PO1135809, a significant downturn in Trump’s for- tunes. The 77-year-old former president, who is ex- pected to win the Republican nomination, called his arrest “politically motivated”. He is out on bail. Trump and 18 others will now face trial. There are differences over when the trial should begin. Trump’s team wants it to start in April 2026, well after the elections, while the prosecution team has suggested Janu- ary 2024 for the trial. For Trump’s attor- neys, the pitch for trial in 2026 is per- haps based on the as- sumption that given his current ratings he may emerge as a clear winner and as President of the Unit- ed States he can do whatever he wants. His arrest in Geor- gia has led to a debate whether he should be disquali- fied from contesting and serving as president again. But any move to block his path could have disastrous consequences given his commanding lead over other Republicancontenders.Over60percentofRepublican voters want to see Trump as a Republican candidate. Some technical issues may, however, come in the way of Trump, whose attempt to overturn the 2020 election has been described as “insurrection”. His candidature could be deemed “unconstitutional”.
