This document discusses self-healing composite materials that are inspired by principles of bone structure and healing. It describes how composites can strengthen damaged areas through the transport and deposition of structural substances, similar to how bone deposits calcium to heal cracks, in order to increase the material's resistance to damage and prolong its useful life. The goal is to develop adaptive, damage-tolerant materials through a self-healing process triggered by stress rises at locations of damage.
