This document provides an agenda and list of award winners for the 2021 USGBC Florida Leadership Awards Gala. It recognizes communities, projects, and individuals in Florida that have achieved LEED certification. Several cities and counties achieved LEED for Cities and Communities certification. Project award winners included offices, schools, healthcare facilities, and residential buildings. Individual awards recognized leaders in sustainability across different categories. The event was sponsored by several organizations and had a host committee to plan the gala.

New Songdo City, South Korea: Bringing LEED to a Mega Project in a New Market...novacsi
Songdo International Business Development (IBD), New Songdo International City LLC, Republic of Korea is a $30 billion, private 1554-acre (628-hectare) master-planned site with 350 commercial, institutional, retail, and residential buildings. The client introduced LEED to Korea and Parsons Brinckerhoff’s task was to set the foundation for embedding LEED into the project on-site. Songdo IBD holds the first LEED-registered projects in Korea, with over 70 projects, mostly city blocks, in pursuit of LEED certification and ten projects certified.

Fire stations in Dallas and Iowa, a renovated cultural center, an Iowa sports complex, a Sarasota, Florida residence and the School of the Art Institute in Chicago took top honors at the Association of Licensed Architects (ALA) 17th Annual Design Awards, which recognized projects in 13 states for design and construction achievement.
A total of 30 Presidential, Gold, Silver, and Merit awards were presented in commercial, institutional, residential, renovation, religious, interior and unbuilt categories.
Maastricht University’s Green Building Adoption Index is the first study to quantify the relevance of green building practices in the commercial real estate market. Based on EPA Energy Star and USGBC LEED statistical data from 2005 through 2013 the study examines more than 34,000 buildings totaling more than 3.5 billion square feet in the top 30 U.S. markets. The resulting evidence shows that green has become mainstream in the majority of U.S. cities.
Overview of effective green building policy and related programs. This presentation was delivered in the "Green Profit" conference in Kingston, ON to an audience of policy makers, researchers, ENGO's, and industry. I was invited to speak about the trends I see in the policy world, and to educate listeners about what existing policies are present, how they are being used, what is coming in the future, how to change policy to increase effectiveness of encouraging more green buildings to be built, and similar items.
