Requirement
The requirement only applies to first-year undergraduate students:
Who have graduated from high school within the 12 months prior
to starting classes at the University
Are full-time students
Will be aged 20 or younger as of September 1.
Have a permanent address outside of the following counties
Aransas, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, and San Patricio and outside
the zip codes of 78340
This also applies to Study Group ISC/Pathways and International
Students
5. Residency Exemption
Auto Exempted – no action needed
Students who have a permanent address within the exempt area
Students who will be 21 years of age or over on September 1 of the fall
semester
Special Exemption – application online at http://housing.tamucc.edu
Married, have custody of a child, or pregnant
Part-time, online courses only, Study Abroad only
Medical or severe financial need

Resident Assistants are student
staff that attend TAMUCC. Every
student will have an RA that lives
within their community.

Resident Assistants are placed
within your student's community
to help them adjust to college
life here at TAMUCC.
RAs ARE STUDENTS THAT CAN HELP:
Their role is to help your student
make friends and provide
connections to university
resources. They also help with
roommate relationships, placing
maintenance requests, answering
housing questions, and plan
events within the community.

APPLY FOR HOUSING
Start your application by visiting
www.islanderhousing.com.
Academic Year and Spring Only Applications
typically open in October.
Summer Applications typically open in February.
Be sure to select the community you would like
to reside at when completing your application.
SIGN YOUR LEASE AGREEMENT
Once you have submitted your application, a
lease agreement will be sent to you and your
guarantor. Be sure to read this document
before you sign it! Once you've read it, be sure
that both you and your guarantor sign the
agreement.
8. What's next....
SELECT YOUR ROOMMATE & UNIT
Once the lease agreement is signed you will
be sent your roommate and unit
information. You can always go to back to
www.islanderhousing.com, and click on the
For Residents tab. Once you have submitted
your login credentials will be able to find
your room number and information about
your roommates.
PAY YOUR 1ST INSTALLMENT due on
August 1st.
There are four ways students can pay for the
installments: checks, money orders, HPO
and Connect (online payments).
9. Connect.StudentHousing.com
Direct Debit Payment: This is when you
setup a recurring payment each month
to be taken out of your account. The
service fee is $1 plus your installment
amount.
One time & Guest Payment: This is a
one-time payment and NOT a
recurring payment. There is a
convenience fee of $19.95 plus your
installment amount.
The connect website is the place where students can pay for their installments online.
There are three different types of payment options offered on this site. The options are,
direct debit, one time payment and a guest payment.

WHAT IS HPO?
This option is for students who decide to use
Financial Aid funds to pay for their housing
installments.
HOW CAN I APPLY?
After your lease agreement is signed you will be
asked to log into the housing portal to select
your unit and fill out the HPO form.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOUR HPO HAS BEEN
APPROVED?
Once your HPO is submitted, TAMU-CC will
email a decision to your Islander email from
noreply@tamucc.edu .
REMINDER:
Financial Aid will only cover the semester you
are enrolled for. If your HPO is not approved by
move-in, then you will need to pay your 1st
installment out of pocket.
11. Move-In Day
We are excited for your arrival and we can't wait
to welcome you to our community! The Move-in
guide will be sent to your Islander email closer to
your move-in date. For additional move-in
information, please log into your housing portal.

All residents will receive a
roommate agreement from
their Resident Assistants
during their first
community meeting. This is
a document to discuss with
your roommates on how
you choose to share or set
rules within your living
space.
15. Making the Adjustment
BE OPENED MINDED
Remember that you are going to meet people from different cities, different
states, or with different life experiences. Be open to new people and new
experiences while living on campus. Our staff is here to help you adjust to this
new environment.
PERSONALIZE YOUR ROOM
Remember this will be your home away from home so decorate it to your
liking. You may use finishing nails and thumbtacks to hang décor on your walls.
All furniture must stay in the unit. You can rearrange your room any way you’d
like but all exits must be accessible. Do not hang anything from the sprinkler
heads and do not tamper with life safety equipment.
GET CONNECTED
Each community will host their own welcome week events to help students
become acclimated to campus culture. The University will also have what we
call Waves of Welcome events to help students make connections with other
students and campus life here at TAMCC.

17. Safe Living
Renters Insurance
In case of an accident it is important to protect your belongings. Renter's insurance can
cover all of the belongings in your space. You can find coverage from your auto insurance,
homeowners' insurance, or GradGuard.
On-site management
We have student staff who also serve on an on-call rotation and complete rounds of the
property every night to assist residents for any after-hour emergencies. In addition to this,
we have Professional & Maintenance staff members who support student staff after
hours.
Access Control
All units and elevators (MV only) have key/fob access. Only residents will have access to
their buildings in the community where they reside.
University Police Department
University Police are readily available 24/7. They also conduct rounds of both housing
communities' multiple times throughout the day to ensure resident safety.

As a member of our community, it is imperative that you reach out to our management
team and let us know of any safety/building concerns. If you see something that may look
suspicious, please inform our staff so that we can inspect & handle the situation.
