Securitization
• Securitization is the process of converting receivables
and other cash-flow generating assets into securities
which are then sold to investors in order to generate
cash. This funding technique is intended not only for large
businesses, but also for a wide range of companies from
various branches of industry.
The securitization process can be summarized as follows;
first a pool of assets needs to be identified, where the
cash flow of the structured product is to be obtained
from. The pool of assets is isolated by being sold, pledged
or transferred to a legally separate company, a
Securitization Vehicle (SV). To fund the acquisition of
assets, the SV issues a credit-structured bond. The bonds
are then placed and traded in the capital markets.
