Presents The 2016 Tournament
Royal Troon Golf Club
July 14 - 17, 2016
The British Open will be staged at Royal Troon in Scotland for the ninth time in 2016.
In 1923, The Open came to Royal Troon for the first time, and since then it has become a regular venue having
hosted the Championship on eight occasions. Troon has been called the toughest course on the British Open
circuit – harsher than Carnoustie, less forgiving than Turnberry and more merciless than even Muirfield. Royal
Troon is no place for the feint of heart.
The course, which took its current form in 1888, is designed in the traditional out-and-back manner of the Old
Course at St Andrews. A gentle opening few holes and relatively straightforward closing stretch are the
bookends for a series of holes which weave up, round and through some of the most striking links land to be
found at any of the host venues. This character makes the strength and direction of the wind even more
important than is usual on a links course: if the wind is against the players on the back nine, it's as tough a finish
as can be found anywhere.
The Ayrshire course last hosted the British Open in 2004, when American Todd Hamilton beat 2002 champion
Ernie Els of South Africa in a playoff. Other former winners at the course were Arthur Havers (1923), Bobby
Locke (1950), Arnold Palmer (1962), Tom Weiskopf (1973), Tom Watson (1982), Mark Calcavecchia (1989) and
Justin Leonard, who won in 1997 after shooting a closing 65.

Tuesday, July 12
Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Kingsbarns Golf Club.
After golf you may wish to visit the Kingsbarns Distillery.
The Ardgowan Hotel, St Andrews, is located near the Old Course and St Andrews
university in the center of St Andrews. Comprising of two adjoining Georgian Houses
the architectural note was designed by the famous Scottish Architect Sir William
Playfair. The hotel is set back within picturesque gardens, offering nineteen
comfortable ensuite bedrooms, lounge bar and restaurant serving a wide variety of
freshly prepared food using top quality local suppliers.
Located directly on the North Sea coast only six miles from St. Andrews, Kingsbarns
is without a doubt one of the most breathtaking links courses ever developed.
Kingsbarns Golf Links is a real one of a kind and a contrast with Scotland’s other
famous links courses in that it is a new, man-made development. The sea figures
prominently on every hole and one's senses are continually pricked with the sights,
sounds and smells of the ocean spray. The links boasts spacious fairways, which roll
and twist through majestic dune ridges and hollows, while its large inviting greens
present the golfer with subtle challenges.
Tuesday, July 12 Continued..
St. Andrews to Kingsbarns is approx a 10 minute drive.
Overnight at the Ardgowan Hotel
Wednesday, July 13
Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Carnoustie Golf Links.
After golf you may wish to tour Glamis Castle.
St. Andrews to Carnoustie is approx a 45 minute drive.
Overnight at the Ardgowan Hotel
While working as a golf caddie at neighboring Kingsbarns Golf Links, it was
Douglas Clement's vision that first inspired the idea for a distillery at
Kingsbarns. His determined belief in the project and an unfettered passion
for single malt whisky has been instrumental in bringing the dream to life.
At Kingsbarns Distillery, we take Fife grown barley and water from an aquifer
100m below the distillery and through our process of milling, mashing,
fermentation and distilling fill just 24 casks a week of our fruity and floral
spirit. The spirit must mature in oak casks for at least 3 years and a day
before we can call it Single Malt Whisky, so we are looking forward to early
2018 to have our first dram!
Regarded by many including Walter Hagen and Gary Player, as one of the best links
courses in the world, Carnoustie, though certainly long, is not a course for the
unthinking big-hitter. With judgment of wind and distance critical, every tee shot needs
careful placement to set up an approach to the green. Whilst there may be little
dramatic background scenery, the beauty of Carnoustie is to be found in the golf
course itself. The layout is such that no two consecutive holes face the same
direction, a factor that does nothing for the golfer in finding their rhythm in the face of
often-stiff winds. Carnoustie's famous burns that snake their way around the course -
Jockie's Burn and the Barry Burn, represent two more obstacles to posting a
respectable tally.
Glamis Castle is located next to the village of Glamis and is home to the
Earl and Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne. The castle was the
childhood home of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, also known as the Queen
Mother. The interior of the castle is beautifully preserved and should be
visited by anyone interested in historical architecture.
Thursday, July 14
Today after breakfast golf will be arranged on the St. Andrews Old Course. -Ballot Tee Time
After golf you may wish to tour the Town of St. Andrews. Known as the home of golf, and home of Scotland's oldest
university, St Andrews is a small town with a sizeable reputation that attracts visitors from all over the world. St Andrews
University, founded in 1410, dominates the centre of town. The elegant, ivy-clad buildings and delightful quadrangles and
gardens have seen a procession of famous graduates, recently including Prince William. The future king may have
graduated, but it is still one of the top universities in Britain, often compared to Oxford and Cambridge for its defining
presence and the collegiate feel it gives to the town. The Medieval centre of St Andrews, with its narrow alleys and
cobbled streets, leads to the now ruined cathedral (once the largest in Scotland) and the adjacent church of St Regulus,
where you can climb the spiral staircase to the top of an 108-foot tower for magnificent views of the town and its
surroundings. The castle, perched on a promontory overlooking the sea, was the dramatic stage for several of the most
notorious episodes of the Reformation. St Andrews has two great beaches, one being the West Sands, where the famous
opening sequence of Chariots of Fire was shot. There are also the Botanic Gardens for relaxation.
Overnight at the Ardgowan Hotel
Friday, July 15
Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at St. Andrews Links where you will play the New Course.
After golf you will transfer to Glasgow and the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel.
St. Andrews to Glasgow is approx a 2 hour drive.
Overnight at the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel
Handicap Limit – Men: 24, Ladies: 36. The oldest golf course in the world has many
remarkable features which help make it so special to golfers around the world. It is
the Home of Golf where golf was first played 600 years ago and yet it remains a real
test of golf for today's champions. Despite its reputation and status, it is a public
course. The course is known for its particular physical features including 112 bunkers,
some of which are especially famous e.g. 'Hell' on the long 14th, 'Strath' on the short
11th and the Road Bunker at what is probably the most famous golf hole in the world,
the 17th or Road Hole (so called because a road - which is in play - runs hard against
the back edge of the green). The Old Course’s truly remarkable feature is that in
today's modern golfing world, a course which has evolved over six centuries remains
a true test of championship golf.
Opened in April 1895, the course was built in response to increasing demand for golf
at St Andrews. The New Course is a classic links course which uses the natural
features of the land to create a first class golfing challenge. The course has the
traditional out and back layout, with the 18th green just to the right of the first tee. It
also has, in the great St Andrews tradition, shared fairways and even a double green
at the 3rd and 15th holes. It has frequently been said that if the New Course were not
situated next to the Old, then its star would have shown with a far greater degree of
brilliance.
Situated in the heart of Glasgow’s vibrant and bustling West End and within
walking distance to Glasgow University, Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor is the
perfect place to stay during a visit to Scotland’s biggest city. Excellent
transport links give Guests easy access to the SECC, Glasgow city center
and Glasgow International Airport.Enjoy great local produce in the highly
acclaimed Bo’vine Steak Restaurant and fabulous cocktails in the award-
winning bobar. While the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor does not have leisure
facilities onsite, Guests are invited to use these facilities free of charge at our
sister hotel, the Hilton Glasgow. Offering friendly, responsive and professional

Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Royal Dornoch Golf Club.
After golf you may wish to visit the Culloden Moor.
Built in 1786 for William Inglis who was later to become Provost of Inverness. The
original house is the heart of the hotel, ensuring you can experience a piece of
Scottish Heritage, steeped in the elegance and charm of a building of this age. You
can still see the ornate ceiling and cornice in the Adams Lounge. At Kingsmills
Hotel, Inverness you’re surrounded by the freshest air in the world and we want you
to enjoy it. Many rooms have extensive views of the garden, all have plenty of
natural daylight and several feature private patios and terraces with views of the
hotel grounds making them the perfect place to start the day.
Originally laid out in 1891 by Old Tom Morris the course received a slight makeover
from John Sutherland, the club's secretary. It is one of the finest links courses in the
world and regularly features in the top ten of best course listings. At just over 6,500
yards it is not too long compared to modern layouts but still presents a mighty
challenge regardless. It is bordered by the Dornoch Firth and exhibits rolling fairways
and small saucer-like greens. Royal Dornoch is a favorite of former Open champion
Tom Watson, who said: "It was the most fun I've had playing golf in my whole life."

It was here that Bonnie Prince Charlie’s troops were finally defeated by
those of the Duke of Cumberland in 1746. The battle lasted only 40
minutes; the Prince’s army lost some 1200 men and the king’s army only
310. Old Leanach Cottage has been restored as a museum and
contains exhibits and information about the battle.
As Turnberry is to Ayrshire and Gleneagles is to Perthshire, Castle Stuart has
been conceived to be for the Highlands – a beacon reaching out to golfers
throughout the world. The centrepiece for this destination golf resort will be Castle
Stuart Golf Links, a championship links course overlooking the Moray Firth and
well-known landmarks that are synonymous with Inverness and the Black Isle -
Kessock Bridge and Chanonry Lighthouse, perhaps the most notable.
Loch Ness is probably the most famous Loch in all of Scotland and allegedly
the home of the legendary Loch Ness Monster, lovingly referred to as
“Nessie”. Loch Ness is the second largest Scottish loch by surface, however,
due to its great depths (up to 754 ft) it is the largest by volume. The legend of
the Loch Ness Monster has been around since an account of Saint Columbia,
in AD565 who rescued a swimmer from a lake creature. The evidence for the
legend surrounds a series of sightings, over the last 100 years, of the
plesiosaur-like dinosaur supported by indistinct photographic evidence.
Although scientists claim that sonar surveys have revealed no presence of
Nessie, the famous Loch is so deep and home to so many underwater caves
that there are plenty of places to hide…

Today after breakfast you will transfer to Glasgow and the Indigo Hotel.
On route to Glasgow golf will be arranged at Gleneagles where you will play the PGA Course.
This Traditional Scottish Golf Links Course was created on the shores of the Moray
Firth from a Highland wilderness of whins and heather, and tests the talents of
professional and amateur alike. Founded in 1887, it is now one of the best courses in
Scotland, and hosted the 1999 Walker Cup. The configuration of Nairn is such that
the course gets progressively more difficult as you go round. This makes it a very
difficult course to score on. Good scores just gradually peter out as you hit the
dangerous homeward stretch.
Cawdor Castle is situated approximately 10 miles east of Inverness
amongst magnificent gardens. The castle belonged to the Clan Calder and
remains today the home to the Dowager Countess Cawdor. Most famous
for its fictional connection to William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the tragedy’s
main character was Thane of Cawdor. The first documentation of the castle
is 1454 and comes in the form of a building license granted to William,
Thane of Cawdor. Portions of the castle precede this date according to
architectural historians, dating parts of the castle as early as 1372. Visitors
to this castle can see the inspiration for the setting of Shakespeare’s
Macbeth, as well as enjoy the landscape and stunning surrounding
gardens.
Located 0.7 miles from the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and a 5-minute walk
from Glasgow Central Station, this upscale, chic boutique hotel is 0.6 miles from
the St. Enoch Shopping Center.
The modern, stylish rooms feature bathrooms with rainfall showerheads, air
conditioning and minibars stocked with snacks and drinks. All have satellite TV,
iPod docks and free WiFi. The top-category suite adds a living room/dining area,
designer toiletries and complimentary champagne. Guests can dine in the
elegant gastro steakhouse run by celeb chef Marco Pierre White, which has a
full wine list and other cocktails. On-site parking is available.

The PGA Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, is a modern classic, combining the best
of both earlier designs. Even for a champion and acclaimed golf architect like
Nicklaus, The PGA Course was a challenge. A feature of The PGA Course is the feast
of views of the spectacular countryside in which Gleneagles is set. Putting on the two-
tier second green, you are distracted by the lush panorama of the rich Perthshire
straths. The PGA Course hosted the 2014 Ryder Cup.

Tuesday, July 12
Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Kingsbarns Golf Club.
After golf you may wish to visit the Kingsbarns Distillery.
An historical, elegant and imposing building, Rusacks Hotel is complemented by a
wealth of facilities and offers priceless views over the sea and St. Andrews Old
Course, in particular the 1
st
and 18
th
holes. This Victorian hotel offers 48 well
appointed en-suite bedrooms, including four suites, many of which overlook the
course and St. Andrews Bay. The spectacular panoramas provided by the Sun
Lounge at Rusacks Hotel are best enjoyed over a rare malt whisky from the hotels
considerable collection. And equally impressive is the cuisine at the Old Course Bar &
Restaurant, which specializes in freshly prepared seafood and game dishes.
Tuesday, July 12 Continued..
St. Andrews to Kingsbarns is approx a 10 minute drive.

Wednesday, July 13
Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Carnoustie Golf Links.
After golf you may wish to tour Glamis Castle.
St. Andrews to Carnoustie is approx a 45 minute drive.
Overnight at the Rusacks Hotel
Overnight at the Rusacks Hotel
Friday, July 15
Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at St. Andrews Links where you will play the New Course.
After golf you will transfer to Glasgow and The Carlton George Hotel.
St. Andrews to Glasgow is approx a 2 hour drive.
Overnight at The Carlton George Hotel.
It has frequently been said that if the New Course were not
situated next to the Old, then its star would have shown with a far greater degree of
brilliance.
This upscale boutique hotel in the centre of the city is 4 minutes' walk from both
George Street station and the Gallery of Modern Art.Plush, modern rooms feature en
suite baths, air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs, plus free WiFi and tea and
coffeemaking facilities. Minibars and decanters of whisky, gin and vodka are
complimentary. All Club and Executive rooms have access to an executive lounge
with complimentary cocktails, and some have balconies with city views, additional
living space and IPod docks.
A rooftop restaurant serves contemporary Scottish food along with afternoon tea, and
there's an old-time Irish pub with 6 bars.

2016 British Open Brochure

  • 1. s SGH GOLF Presents The 2016 Tournament Royal Troon Golf Club July 14 - 17, 2016
  • 2. The British Open will be staged at Royal Troon in Scotland for the ninth time in 2016. In 1923, The Open came to Royal Troon for the first time, and since then it has become a regular venue having hosted the Championship on eight occasions. Troon has been called the toughest course on the British Open circuit – harsher than Carnoustie, less forgiving than Turnberry and more merciless than even Muirfield. Royal Troon is no place for the feint of heart. The course, which took its current form in 1888, is designed in the traditional out-and-back manner of the Old Course at St Andrews. A gentle opening few holes and relatively straightforward closing stretch are the bookends for a series of holes which weave up, round and through some of the most striking links land to be found at any of the host venues. This character makes the strength and direction of the wind even more important than is usual on a links course: if the wind is against the players on the back nine, it's as tough a finish as can be found anywhere. The Ayrshire course last hosted the British Open in 2004, when American Todd Hamilton beat 2002 champion Ernie Els of South Africa in a playoff. Other former winners at the course were Arthur Havers (1923), Bobby Locke (1950), Arnold Palmer (1962), Tom Weiskopf (1973), Tom Watson (1982), Mark Calcavecchia (1989) and Justin Leonard, who won in 1997 after shooting a closing 65. • 4. British Open 2016 Dates: July 11th -18th Silver Package Option The 2016 British Open Royal Troon Old Course, Scotland Silver Package Monday, July 11th -Monday, July 18th Sunday, July 10 Depart USA for Edinburgh Monday, July 11 Upon your arrival in Edinburgh you will be met by a SGH Golf representative, who will assist you with your luggage and present you with your travel guide, before showing you to your waiting rental car. You will transfer to St. Andrews and the Ardgowan Hotel. The rest of your day is free to relax and unpack. Edinburgh Airport to St. Andrews is approx a 1 hour 20 minute drive. Overnight at the Ardgowan Hotel Tuesday, July 12 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Kingsbarns Golf Club. After golf you may wish to visit the Kingsbarns Distillery. The Ardgowan Hotel, St Andrews, is located near the Old Course and St Andrews university in the center of St Andrews. Comprising of two adjoining Georgian Houses the architectural note was designed by the famous Scottish Architect Sir William Playfair. The hotel is set back within picturesque gardens, offering nineteen comfortable ensuite bedrooms, lounge bar and restaurant serving a wide variety of freshly prepared food using top quality local suppliers. Located directly on the North Sea coast only six miles from St. Andrews, Kingsbarns is without a doubt one of the most breathtaking links courses ever developed. Kingsbarns Golf Links is a real one of a kind and a contrast with Scotland’s other famous links courses in that it is a new, man-made development. The sea figures prominently on every hole and one's senses are continually pricked with the sights, sounds and smells of the ocean spray. The links boasts spacious fairways, which roll and twist through majestic dune ridges and hollows, while its large inviting greens present the golfer with subtle challenges.
  • 5. Tuesday, July 12 Continued.. St. Andrews to Kingsbarns is approx a 10 minute drive. Overnight at the Ardgowan Hotel Wednesday, July 13 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Carnoustie Golf Links. After golf you may wish to tour Glamis Castle. St. Andrews to Carnoustie is approx a 45 minute drive. Overnight at the Ardgowan Hotel While working as a golf caddie at neighboring Kingsbarns Golf Links, it was Douglas Clement's vision that first inspired the idea for a distillery at Kingsbarns. His determined belief in the project and an unfettered passion for single malt whisky has been instrumental in bringing the dream to life. At Kingsbarns Distillery, we take Fife grown barley and water from an aquifer 100m below the distillery and through our process of milling, mashing, fermentation and distilling fill just 24 casks a week of our fruity and floral spirit. The spirit must mature in oak casks for at least 3 years and a day before we can call it Single Malt Whisky, so we are looking forward to early 2018 to have our first dram! Regarded by many including Walter Hagen and Gary Player, as one of the best links courses in the world, Carnoustie, though certainly long, is not a course for the unthinking big-hitter. With judgment of wind and distance critical, every tee shot needs careful placement to set up an approach to the green. Whilst there may be little dramatic background scenery, the beauty of Carnoustie is to be found in the golf course itself. The layout is such that no two consecutive holes face the same direction, a factor that does nothing for the golfer in finding their rhythm in the face of often-stiff winds. Carnoustie's famous burns that snake their way around the course - Jockie's Burn and the Barry Burn, represent two more obstacles to posting a respectable tally. Glamis Castle is located next to the village of Glamis and is home to the Earl and Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne. The castle was the childhood home of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, also known as the Queen Mother. The interior of the castle is beautifully preserved and should be visited by anyone interested in historical architecture.
  • 6. Thursday, July 14 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged on the St. Andrews Old Course. -Ballot Tee Time After golf you may wish to tour the Town of St. Andrews. Known as the home of golf, and home of Scotland's oldest university, St Andrews is a small town with a sizeable reputation that attracts visitors from all over the world. St Andrews University, founded in 1410, dominates the centre of town. The elegant, ivy-clad buildings and delightful quadrangles and gardens have seen a procession of famous graduates, recently including Prince William. The future king may have graduated, but it is still one of the top universities in Britain, often compared to Oxford and Cambridge for its defining presence and the collegiate feel it gives to the town. The Medieval centre of St Andrews, with its narrow alleys and cobbled streets, leads to the now ruined cathedral (once the largest in Scotland) and the adjacent church of St Regulus, where you can climb the spiral staircase to the top of an 108-foot tower for magnificent views of the town and its surroundings. The castle, perched on a promontory overlooking the sea, was the dramatic stage for several of the most notorious episodes of the Reformation. St Andrews has two great beaches, one being the West Sands, where the famous opening sequence of Chariots of Fire was shot. There are also the Botanic Gardens for relaxation. Overnight at the Ardgowan Hotel Friday, July 15 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at St. Andrews Links where you will play the New Course. After golf you will transfer to Glasgow and the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel. St. Andrews to Glasgow is approx a 2 hour drive. Overnight at the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel Handicap Limit – Men: 24, Ladies: 36. The oldest golf course in the world has many remarkable features which help make it so special to golfers around the world. It is the Home of Golf where golf was first played 600 years ago and yet it remains a real test of golf for today's champions. Despite its reputation and status, it is a public course. The course is known for its particular physical features including 112 bunkers, some of which are especially famous e.g. 'Hell' on the long 14th, 'Strath' on the short 11th and the Road Bunker at what is probably the most famous golf hole in the world, the 17th or Road Hole (so called because a road - which is in play - runs hard against the back edge of the green). The Old Course’s truly remarkable feature is that in today's modern golfing world, a course which has evolved over six centuries remains a true test of championship golf. Opened in April 1895, the course was built in response to increasing demand for golf at St Andrews. The New Course is a classic links course which uses the natural features of the land to create a first class golfing challenge. The course has the traditional out and back layout, with the 18th green just to the right of the first tee. It also has, in the great St Andrews tradition, shared fairways and even a double green at the 3rd and 15th holes. It has frequently been said that if the New Course were not situated next to the Old, then its star would have shown with a far greater degree of brilliance. Situated in the heart of Glasgow’s vibrant and bustling West End and within walking distance to Glasgow University, Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor is the perfect place to stay during a visit to Scotland’s biggest city. Excellent transport links give Guests easy access to the SECC, Glasgow city center and Glasgow International Airport.Enjoy great local produce in the highly acclaimed Bo’vine Steak Restaurant and fabulous cocktails in the award- winning bobar. Built in 1786 for William Inglis who was later to become Provost of Inverness. The original house is the heart of the hotel, ensuring you can experience a piece of Scottish Heritage, steeped in the elegance and charm of a building of this age. You can still see the ornate ceiling and cornice in the Adams Lounge. At Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness you’re surrounded by the freshest air in the world and we want you to enjoy it. Many rooms have extensive views of the garden, all have plenty of natural daylight and several feature private patios and terraces with views of the hotel grounds making them the perfect place to start the day. Originally laid out in 1891 by Old Tom Morris the course received a slight makeover from John Sutherland, the club's secretary. It is one of the finest links courses in the world and regularly features in the top ten of best course listings. At just over 6,500 yards it is not too long compared to modern layouts but still presents a mighty challenge regardless. It is bordered by the Dornoch Firth and exhibits rolling fairways and small saucer-like greens. Royal Dornoch is a favorite of former Open champion Tom Watson, who said: "It was the most fun I've had playing golf in my whole life."
  • 12. Tuesday, July 12 Continued.. Inverness to Royal Dornoch is approx a 1 hour drive. Overnight at the Kingsmills Hotel Wednesday, July 13 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Castle Stuart. After golf you may wish to tour Loch Ness. Overnight at the Kingsmills Hotel It was here that Bonnie Prince Charlie’s troops were finally defeated by those of the Duke of Cumberland in 1746. The battle lasted only 40 minutes; the Prince’s army lost some 1200 men and the king’s army only 310. Old Leanach Cottage has been restored as a museum and contains exhibits and information about the battle. As Turnberry is to Ayrshire and Gleneagles is to Perthshire, Castle Stuart has been conceived to be for the Highlands – a beacon reaching out to golfers throughout the world. The centrepiece for this destination golf resort will be Castle Stuart Golf Links, a championship links course overlooking the Moray Firth and well-known landmarks that are synonymous with Inverness and the Black Isle - Kessock Bridge and Chanonry Lighthouse, perhaps the most notable. Loch Ness is probably the most famous Loch in all of Scotland and allegedly the home of the legendary Loch Ness Monster, lovingly referred to as “Nessie”. Loch Ness is the second largest Scottish loch by surface, however, due to its great depths (up to 754 ft) it is the largest by volume. The legend of the Loch Ness Monster has been around since an account of Saint Columbia, in AD565 who rescued a swimmer from a lake creature. The evidence for the legend surrounds a series of sightings, over the last 100 years, of the plesiosaur-like dinosaur supported by indistinct photographic evidence. Although scientists claim that sonar surveys have revealed no presence of Nessie, the famous Loch is so deep and home to so many underwater caves that there are plenty of places to hide…
  • 13. Thursday, July 14 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Nairn Golf Club. After golf you may wish to tour Cawdor Castle. Inverness to Nairn is approx a 25 minute drive. Overnight at the Kingsmills Hotel Friday, July 15 Today after breakfast you will transfer to Glasgow and the Indigo Hotel. On route to Glasgow golf will be arranged at Gleneagles where you will play the PGA Course. This Traditional Scottish Golf Links Course was created on the shores of the Moray Firth from a Highland wilderness of whins and heather, and tests the talents of professional and amateur alike. Founded in 1887, it is now one of the best courses in Scotland, and hosted the 1999 Walker Cup. The configuration of Nairn is such that the course gets progressively more difficult as you go round. This makes it a very difficult course to score on. Good scores just gradually peter out as you hit the dangerous homeward stretch. Cawdor Castle is situated approximately 10 miles east of Inverness amongst magnificent gardens. The castle belonged to the Clan Calder and remains today the home to the Dowager Countess Cawdor. Most famous for its fictional connection to William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the tragedy’s main character was Thane of Cawdor. The first documentation of the castle is 1454 and comes in the form of a building license granted to William, Thane of Cawdor. British Open 2016 Dates: July 11th -18th Platinum Package Option The 2016 British Open Royal Troon Old Course, Scotland Platinum Package Monday, July 11th -Monday, July 18th Sunday, July 10 Depart USA for Edinburgh Monday, July 11 Upon your arrival in Edinburgh you will be met by a SGH Golf representative, who will assist you with your luggage and present you with your travel guide, before showing you to your waiting rental car. You will transfer to St. Andrews and the Rusacks Hotel. The rest of your day is free to relax and unpack. Edinburgh Airport to St. Andrews is approx a 1 hour 20 minute drive. Overnight at the Rusacks Hotel Tuesday, July 12 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Kingsbarns Golf Club. After golf you may wish to visit the Kingsbarns Distillery. An historical, elegant and imposing building, Rusacks Hotel is complemented by a wealth of facilities and offers priceless views over the sea and St. Andrews Old Course, in particular the 1 st and 18 th holes. This Victorian hotel offers 48 well appointed en-suite bedrooms, including four suites, many of which overlook the course and St. Andrews Bay. The spectacular panoramas provided by the Sun Lounge at Rusacks Hotel are best enjoyed over a rare malt whisky from the hotels considerable collection. And equally impressive is the cuisine at the Old Course Bar & Restaurant, which specializes in freshly prepared seafood and game dishes.
  • 19. Tuesday, July 12 Continued.. St. Andrews to Kingsbarns is approx a 10 minute drive. Overnight at the Rusacks Hotel Wednesday, July 13 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Carnoustie Golf Links. After golf you may wish to tour Glamis Castle. St. Andrews to Carnoustie is approx a 45 minute drive. Overnight at the Rusacks Hotel While working as a golf caddie at neighboring Kingsbarns Golf Links, it was Douglas Clement's vision that first inspired the idea for a distillery at Kingsbarns.
  • 20. Overnight at the Rusacks Hotel Friday, July 15 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at St. Andrews Links where you will play the New Course. After golf you will transfer to Glasgow and The Carlton George Hotel. St. Andrews to Glasgow is approx a 2 hour drive. Overnight at The Carlton George Hotel. Handicap Limit – Men: 24, Ladies: 36. This upscale boutique hotel in the centre of the city is 4 minutes' walk from both George Street station and the Gallery of Modern Art.Plush, modern rooms feature en suite baths, air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs, plus free WiFi and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Minibars and decanters of whisky, gin and vodka are complimentary. All Club and Executive rooms have access to an executive lounge with complimentary cocktails, and some have balconies with city views, additional living space and IPod docks. A rooftop restaurant serves contemporary Scottish food along with afternoon tea, and there's an old-time Irish pub with 6 bars.
