Dear Bailli Delegues / Dear Friends Next year we will hold our Grand Chapitre in Glasgow and have a fabulous program lined up for you all. Instead of our usual end of September timing the event will take place in mid-July to take advantage of the longer daylight hours. To assist with your travel plans for next year I am attaching a flyer for the event. Wednesday 10 July Casual dinner at the Dakota Hotel
Thursday 11 July Trip to Dumfries House
Fabulous house previously owned by the Marquesses of Bute, designed by Robert Adam,
rescued and restored under the patronage of HM The King. It houses the world’s largest
collection of Chippendale furniture.

2. The guided tour will be followed by lunch at the Laird’s Table in the grounds of the nearby
Craufurdland Castle
Diner Amical in the Kelvin Suite at the Glasgow Golf Club. The 9th
oldest golf club in the
world and set in beautiful grounds in the northern suburbs of the city.
Friday 12 July
Clyde estuary trip on the World’s last seagoing paddle steamer ‘Waverley’ Down the
River Clyde past Dumbarton, Dunoon and on to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. With a gin
tasting and lunch at Bute Yard in Rothesay before returning to Glasgow (all day).

3. City Centre walking tour to see the nineteenth century splendours of the city straight
from the hotel front door (am)
Welcome Dinner in the Grand Hall of Trades Hall a superb building dating from 1605 and
housing the 14 Trades (Guilds) of the city.

4. Saturday 13 July
Induction Ceremony (am)
This will be held in the first public building designed by the world famous designer and
architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Architect of the Glasgow School of Art and founder of
the British Art Nouveau style.

Clydeside Whisky Distillery tour including a tasting of single malts (pm)
Gala Dinner will be held in the Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel and prepared by Maitre
Rotisseur Stuart Brough.

5. Sunday 14 July
Northern Belle Pullman luxury train trip along the world famous ‘West Highland Line’
The train is journeying to Glasgow especially for this trip courtesy of the Company Directors.
The journey is widely regarded as the most picturesque railway line in Britain. Passengers
see lochs, including Loch Lomond, glens, waterfalls and more in Pullman comfort whilst
enjoying a mid-morning coffee as we head west. Later towards Ben Nevis a superb 7
course lunch then towards the return to Galsgow a delightful afternoon tea.
When you are not admiring the scenery, the on-board entertainers and musicians will add to
the journeys interest.

6. The Grand Chapitre closes when we return to Glasgow on Sunday evening.
If you wish to extend your stay the Chaine room rates at the Hilton will apply to contiguous
stays up to three days before or after the Grand Chapitre
