Welcome to Trump Scotland & Ireland
For lovers of this glorious game, golf in Scotland and Ireland conjures up
visions of rolling links, penal pot bunkers, undulating greens, humps, hollows
and dramatic run-offs. It is truly where golf began and a pilgrimage that
must be made.
From Trump Doonbeg on the dramatic west coast of Ireland with its
awe-inspiring Atlantic Ocean views and unforgettable Irish hospitality
to Scotland, the home of golf. Recently reborn following a £200million
investment, Trump Turnberry - four-time host of the Open Championship
– provides a most unforgettable experience with history, heritage and the
stunning backdrop of Ailsa Craig. From this west coast icon to a modern
classic in Scotland’s north east, Trump’s world-class course in Aberdeen
has taken the golfing world by storm with its mountainous dunes and
challenging layout – a true links in a contemporary style designed by
renowned architect Dr Martin Hawtree. Combine these three locations with
five-star accommodation, unrivalled hospitality and superior service and you
have an unbeatable golf travel experience.
Let me bring your links golf dreams to life and experience the majesty of
Trump Scotland & Ireland.
Kind regards,
Chris

Golf
Background
February 2014. The worst storms in 200 years have
just hit the entire west coast of Ireland where the links
golf course at Doonbeg suffered huge damage leaving
the golf course unplayable. At this time, the business
is being acquired by Donald Trump. His promise. “We
will fix this course and bring Doonbeg back to its
former glory... we’ll make it better than before”.
The man who would redesign the golf course was
Dr Martin Hawtree, an amazing talent who began the
work immediately. The Hawtree redesign of over two
years combined with the exceptional drive, passion and
expertise of a young Scottish course superintendent,
Scott Marr, has presented us with a links golf course
which reopened in May 2016 and will stand proudly
amongst the icons of Irish golf.
Eighteen majestic golf holes, many with ocean views,
soft underfoot grass pathways leading to large tee
boxes facing beautiful rolling fairways that approach
gentle contoured greens which should not be
underestimated!! Trump Doonbeg links is stunning.
Already garnering international interest and acclaim
from golfing enthusiasts all over the world, Trump
Doonbeg is delighted and proud to announce, Mr
Donald Trump kept his promise.

Meet the golf pro
A native of Dublin and a noted coach, Brian Shaw
has held this position for the last 15 years. Prior
to Doonbeg he was the head professional at Adare
Manor. A class-A PGA professional he played golf at
La Salle university in Philadelphia PA. Brian is one
of only two Europeans that sit on the presidential
advisory board of Taylormade golf. He is renowned
as much for his stories as he is for his golf skills. No
matter where in the World a guest comes from, Brian
is sure to know someone in common.
“You meet so many interesting people from all parts
of the world in my game. It’s really fascinating. I have
made many great friends over the years at Trump
Doonbeg, it truly is a special place.”
Caddie programme
At Trump Doonbeg, we are pleased to offer a caddie
service to all those playing the golf links course, with
each caddie highly trained to international standards.
Our goal is to enhance your experience through the
utilisation of caddies. We recommend the use of our
caddies for your round of golf. A caddie is a useful
companion in the challenging nature of this golf
course, with its blind shots, high rough and deep
bunkers, they will increase your pace of play and
scoring.

A trip to town
Background
Ennis is the capital of Co. Clare, a picturesque and historic market town taking it’s name
from “Inis” which is the Irish name for island.
The town dates back to the 11th Century and was formed between two streams on the
river Fergus when the O’Briens, Kings of Thomond, invited the Franciscans to establish a
settlement within their domain in 1240.
Ennis and County Clare are world famous as the home of Traditional Irish Music with
year round music festivals and trad sessions throughout the town and county.
The town’s history along with modern influences represents a pleasant blend of the historic
past and active present. It’s narrow bustling streets and lanes give character and ambiance
to the town confirming that it is indeed somewhere very special.

Golf
Background
Turnberry has long been regarded as the jewel in the
crown of Scottish golf, and one of the world’s most
highly regarded courses. Indeed, it sits alone amongst
all the Open rota courses in having a coastline and
beachscape which actually provide a hazard to the play
of the course.
A player’s favourite, the Ailsa course is steeped
in golfing history, having played host to some of the
sport’s most memorable Open Championships. Every
player follows in the footsteps of Tom Watson and Jack
Nicklaus when they take on the Ailsa.
Following a £200 million investment in all aspects of
Turnberry by the Trump Organisation, the Ailsa course
has undergone a rebirth. A wide range of improvements
have been meticulously designed and lovingly managed
by renowned international golf architect Martin Ebert,
of Mackenzie & Ebert.
The new layout of Ailsa respects the course’s original
design and offers an incredible golfing experience for
amateur and elite players alike.
As a result, this bold transformation has created
what must surely become the most exciting links course
in the world, underpinned by an incredible 8-hole
coastal sequence. Such a stunning stretch of seaside
holes must be unmatched in the golfing world.
The Ailsa course has been reborn and it has to be
played to be believed.
“Turnberry is a marvel in every way. The resort
has become one of the world’s elite again, the stuff
dreamers a century ago hoped for in putting a five-
star hotel on a hill overlooking a links and majestic
lighthouse....Turnberry is an essential stop. But don’t
be in a hurry to leave.” Golf Digest

Turnberry, Ricky’s role involves everything from
managing the professional shop team, caddie masters
and rangers to caddies and locker room stewards.
Ricky has been a close ally to Martin Ebert during
the design and redevelopment of the Ailsa course. His
knowledge of the course is unrivalled and his intimate
understanding of its contours and heritage has greatly
contributed to the design process.
The Halfway House
Turnberry’s iconic lighthouse, which has acted as a
timeless beacon for golfers from across the world, has
also re-emerged as the world’s most impressive half
way house. Situated on the cusp of the rocky coastline,
stop and enjoy a refreshment while marvelling not
only at the new challenges laid out by this magnificent
course, but the panoramic beauty of the surrounding
scenery.

A trip to the city
what to expect
The city of Aberdeen has a history dating back almost 8,000 years and whilst it is known
around the world as the ‘Oil and Gas capital of Europe’ there is so much more to discover
in this exciting and vibrant city. Located against the dramatic backdrop of the North Sea,
Aberdeen’s maritime history is extensive with one of the world’s oldest harbours as well
as the quaint traditional fishing village of Footdee (pronounced Fittee) which still retains
much of the character of Aberdeen’s nautical heritage.
Take a trip out of the harbour and go dolphin watching! Dolphins are regularly spotted
dancing in the bows of the ships coming and going as well as puffins and other sea birds.
Aberdeen has a thriving cultural scene with regular festivals and a number of galleries and
museums to explore. Live music can be found in a variety of venues from the smallest of
pubs and clubs to the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre which hosts some of
the biggest names in entertainment.
With the very best of Scotland’s larder found in Aberdeenshire, the food and drink scene
in Aberdeen is without comparison. The finest of seafood, the best Aberdeen Angus beef
and a plethora of independent cafes, restaurants and bars all serving local produce with
creativity and innovation.
