16. • Archive grant received
A grant from the Association for Recorded
Sound Collections (ARSC) was received in
the amount of $9,000 to digitize
approximately 500 hours of recordings. The
grant is in effect for up to 2 years, and will
pay for two full time interns for a period of 8
weeks to transfer the audio stored at IPR
which is in danger of degradation. ICA will
provide $3,200 worth of equipment, as well
as room and board for the interns. Work is
expected to begin in the Fall of 2016.

19. ARTICA Collection
• 260 brass and wind instruments are on
display and are included in a new
descriptive database. All instruments have
been tagged and photographed.
• 200+ people have toured the collection.
• 2 of the most significant pieces from the
collection are the first Sousaphone made
by the Conn instrument company, as well
as another specially made for the
company’s 50th Anniversary. Both of these
pieces have been sent to the Musical
Instrument Museum in Phoenix, Arizona,
where they will be displayed for two years
and seen by approximately one million
people during that time. The display
placards will indicate that ICA is the loaning
institution.
