How is Your Resume Looking
for College?
Are you a good student and hoping to
get into your favorite college and
perhaps even receive a scholarship?
That’s a great goal. Over $40 Billion in
scholarships are awarded to students
each year.
Here is something you may not know:
All applicants for scholarships have high
test scores and outstanding GPAs.
That’s a given.
To pick the winners, scholarship
selection boards often look for those
students who differentiate themselves by
demonstrating leadership, participating
in sports, and volunteering in the
community.
Start Making Your Own
Memories at Sea…
Founded in 1912, the Sea Scouts (part of the
Boys Scouts of America), have been training
young men and women to be leaders in their
communities for over a century.
The far reaches of the Puget Sound and the
San Juan Islands are some of the most
beautiful nautical landscapes in the world.
And yet, most young people in the Seattle
region never board a ship and explore this
remarkable resource.
For college-bound students, Sea Scouts is
one of the best ways to document leadership
accomplishments and community service
contributions.
A new Sea Scout Crew is now
forming in Woodinville…
The new crew has been commissioned to sail
on the Yankee Clipper in 2014.
The purpose of the crew will be to train
twelve high-performing young people in
leadership and community service.
The crew will meet weekly in Woodinville
and sail from Ballard, the moorage location
of the Yankee Clipper. Community service
projects will be focused on the local
community.
Also, few young people know the
camaraderie and sense of purpose that
comes from banding together with a likeminded group of peers who are focused on
a common goal.
You can experience both of these
objectives by sailing on the Yankee
Clipper. Don’t miss the opportunity to be
part of the 2014 crew. Adventure awaits…
"It isn't that life ashore is
distasteful to me. But life
at sea is better.” -Sir
Francis Drake
