Dear <INFORMAL SALUTATION>,
This year, Tusculum College celebrates 221 years of educating Pioneers. We’ve had many firsts over those
years, thanks to spirited people who were willing to work hard to find success.
When I think of the word “success,” two students who come to mind today are Kevin Jerome and Melanie
Sigman. By choosing Tusculum and taking advantage of the opportunities it presented, they are forging their
own paths to success and are Pioneers in their own right.
Kevin is a junior whose hard work and determination is unmatched by most of his peers. He is a
first-generation American whose parents came to the United States from Haiti. He grew up in Queens, NY with
14 family members living in a two-bedroom apartment. He is an International Business and Economics major.
Through an on-campus recruiting
event, he landed a prestigious
internship with Northwestern
Mutual Life Insurance and Financial
Services.
After only a few months, he is
ranked nationally as Northwestern
Mutual’s seventh leading intern in
productivity.
His career goals include becoming
a certified financial advisor and building his client base at Northwestern Mutual. Kevin dreams of one day
building an organization from the ground up and being heavily involved in philanthropy.
Melanie, who is from Covington, Georgia, aspires to become a museum curator.
Since Tusculum is one of only a handful of schools that offer an undergraduate Museum Studies major,
Melanie knew it was the place for her.
She is thankful every day for the rare opportunity to attend class on such a historic campus and work in a
museum while earning her degree. Melanie is also a student caller in Tusculum’s annual phonathon campaign
and reaches out to alumni and friends to raise money for the Tusculum Fund. She enjoys hearing the stories
of the Pioneers who came before her and helping alumni feel more connected to Tusculum through their
conversations.
Kevin and Melanie are
taking every opportunity to
build their futures. Will you
give to help students
like them?
Thank you for making Tusculum First!

But like many students at Tusculum College, they also depend on the scholarship support that is made
possible by gifts from alumni and friends of the College.
• About 98% of Tusculum College students receive some type of financial aid.
• Nearly half of our students come from families with an annual household income of less than $30,000
per year.
Last October, we announced an ambitious fundraising effort to raise $25 million to keep Tusculum FIRST in
education. I am proud to say that thanks to the generosity of many, we are closing in on that goal.
With the help of mentors, leaders, and professors, Melanie and Kevin have been able to say “Yes!” to many
opportunities. Today, I invite you to say, “Yes!” and make a gift to help the College continue its commitment to
providing educational opportunities that are accessible, affordable, and awe-inspiring.
Kevin and Melanie are not Tusculum’s first success stories, and they won’t be the last. <INFORMAL
SALUTATION>, when you give to the Tusculum Fund your gift inspires Tusculum’s next great leaders and you
contribute to Tusculum’s next success story. There is no better evidence that Tusculum prepares our students
for success than the countless stories of Pioneers making a difference in their communities.
The Tusculum Fund changes futures.
Many students can directly attribute their success to the open doors of opportunity, possible only through
generous investments from people like you. The most important reason for YOUR support is our students.
Will you join me as an investor in the life-changing experiences that we offer at Tusculum College
by contributing $<ASK AMOUNT> today? It is only with your support that we can continue to give our
students the opportunity to succeed.
Go online today at https://web.tusculum.edu/giving/gift.php or use the attached form and envelope to make
your gift. And from Kevin, Melanie, and all the students who will benefit from your generosity, thank you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ronald L. May ’68
Vice President for Academic Affairs
P.S. Don’t forget—you can double or even triple your gift to Tusculum College if your (or your spouse’s)
employer matches charitable gifts. Please give $<ASK AMOUNT> by June 30!
Thanks for your support of Tusculum College!
