The McCormick Center at Siena College teaches history through hands-on learning opportunities in the community. Students take classroom courses on the American Revolution and then apply their knowledge through internships at local museums, schools, and historical societies. As interns, students help preserve historical sites and educate the public, while also gaining real-world experience. The McCormick Center provides undergraduates with opportunities to conduct research and prepares them for careers in museums, education, and related fields through its certificate program.

Community Outreach for the Public History CenterKelli Ordonia
This powerpoint was created for THATCampFL 2013. The forum was designed to investigate potential tools for consolidating communication and strengthening community outreach for UCF's Public History Center. By analyzing the multiple stakeholders and immediate objectives involved, as well as previous research, participants could discuss the issues of pluralistic communications and how to effectively streamline efforts for further community outreach.
This is a variation of a News Release that I created for the Missouri State University Communications office. This document was created for an internship.

Teaching the Civil War Era with TechnologyIan Farrell
The American Civil War was a unique period in history – not just American history but world history as well. It was a war of firsts that preserved the democratic form of government as well as pioneered many social freedoms we largely take for granted today. The Civil War ended slavery and in turn launched a young nation into an industrial and technological economic, military, political, and social prowess.
Despite taking place over 150 years ago, the Civil War can very much be brought back to life through the use of technology. This modern privilege allows teachers and students alike to study and link the past with the present. As of current, there are a myriad of interactive resources available to teachers so that they may better their students’ education; and as technology progresses, the limitations of study will certainly continue to diminish.
