1642 - Academia Domnească, the first Romanian medical school with
university status was founded
1859 - Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the prince of unified Romanian Principalities of
Moldova and Wallachia, initiated a series of reforms that contributed to the
modernization of Romanian society and state structures
 1860 - University of Ia iș , the first modern Romanian university, is officially
inaugurated on the 26th of October
 2005 - The Bologna System is implemented
 2010 - Celebration of 150 years of modern higher education in Romania
