   The Main Objective of Insight
           Meditation

To purify the mind of all negative
   tendencies - greed, anger and
   delusion, through mind control.

  Three factors in Mindfulness

The 1st factor is clarity of the mind.

The 2nd factor is stability, calmness and
  peace.

The 3rd factor is alertness of the mind.

 The Purpose of Meditation Practice

 To keep the mind in the present moment.

 To keep mindfulness clear, alert and calm.

 To see what is truly happening to
  meditation object.

   Kayanupassana Satipatthana
            (Mindfulness of Body)

   Vedananupassana Satipatthana
            (Mindfulness of Feelings)

   Cittanupassana Satipatthana
             (Mindfulness of Mind)

   Dhammanupassana Satipatthana
           (Mindfulness of Phenomena)

                    What is Mindfulness?

 Mindfulness is a mental state - “thoroughness,” “alertness” or
  “awareness.”

 Mindfulness is knowing the true, not only just knowing the object.

 When one is mindful, there is no greed, anger or delusion.

 One is in full control of his mind and is in a position to handle well in
  any situation .

                     Experience the Truth
 Cannot speculate or have ideas about it;

 Can be realized only through bare attention.

 To be mindful without thinking at the present moment,.

         Result - Eliminate Suffering
 Get to see the relationships of true characteristics
  with one another.

 Lead to direct experience of the three general
  characteristics of existence—Dukkha, Anicca,
  andAnatta (suffering, impermanence and non-self).

 Eliminate affliction and suffering at the end.

          MINDFULNESS Of BODY

 Observe the contact area during sitting.

 Recognize number of touch points.

 Do not time how long it takes for each observation.

 If sleepy, change object or touch point.

 Watch arising and falling without commenting.

         MINDFULNESS OF BODY
 Do not watch breathing at the tip of the nose.

 Do not visualize, count or control breathing.

 Do not just concentrate on object without mindfulness.

 Cannot be mindful without the three characteristics of “suffering,
  change and non-self”.

 Let the true realities appear by themselves.

     Vipassana basically means watching realities.

                     DAILY ACTIVITIES
 Be mindful on eating, answering calls, watching TV,
  wearing clothes, washing dishes, etc…

 Train your mind to be mindful, at all times and in all
  aspects of life.

 With mindfulness on daily activities one can attain the
  highest freedom.

                                               We wish all sinful hindrances to be totally eradicated.

                                                shì   shì cháng xíng pú               sà          dào

                                               世世常行菩薩道
                                               In one life after another we always follow Bodhisattvas’ paths.

Buddhist Association of Canada MINDFULNESS OF BODY  Do not watch breathing at the tip of the nose.  Do not visualize, count or control breathing.  Do not just concentrate on object without mindfulness.  Cannot be mindful without the three characteristics of “suffering, change and non-self”.  Let the true realities appear by themselves.
