I would like to thank you all for making Vibrant Gujarat 2013 Summit a grand suc- cess.
This summit of 2013 was bigger than any of the pre- vious summits in terms of the scope and scale. The event concept which initially fo- cused on business, network- ing and summit to summit promotional activities, gradually transited towards an year long program to foster knowledge partner- ships, business linkages and a platform for new ideas.
The focus areas of develop- ment for the 6th edition of the Summit included Innova- tion, Sustainability, Skill Development and Knowl- edge sharing.
In terms of achievements of the Summit, 127 events were organ- ized in these focus areas post the Summit of 2011. The Summit witnessed participation from 121 Countries, with over 2100 foreign delegates. Over 58,000 domestic delegates partici- pated in the events. 17,719 Investment Intentions were signed at the summit. The hallmark of this summit has been develop- ment oriented 2,670 tie-ups – in areas of engineering, educa- tion, infrastructure to name a few.
The Summit also provided excellent networking opportunities through arrangement of organized B2B and B2G meetings. Other networking events like network dinners, buyer seller meets, export pavilions and catalogue shows were also organ- ized as part of the summit.
Another distinct feature of this edition of the summit was the Global Trade Show (Exhibition) which formed an integral part of Summit. The exhibition spread over an area of 1,04,000 sq.mt. with 1,195 exhibitors (comprising of corporate houses, institutions and industrial giants) witnessed a footfall of about 1.6 million visitors over a period of 6 days.
More than 200 eminent political leaders, diplomats and cap- tains of industry on the dais showed their solidarity with Gujarat during the summit. I would say that Vibrant Gujarat summit has not only been successful in bringing India‟s business tycoons on one podium but also has instilled a sense of pride and confi- dence amongst the masses and youth of Gujarat.
Vibrant Gujarat 2013 succeeded in establishing Gujarat as the most favored destination of India along with sharing of knowl- edge and technology from across the world. Participation of different Countries and Indian States who used the platform for showcasing their strength has contributed towards „Vibrant Gu- jarat‟ summit transforming itself into the premier business and knowledge summit of the Country.
I once again thank you for the support and welcome you to participate in the development of the state.

“Gujarat stands out different and perhaps better than anywhere in the country in meeting these goals and credit for this goes to Mr. Modi for his vision for setting high standards, and of course (the credit also goes to) the great support and unity of his entire government that make every investor feel essential fulfillment and satisfaction.”
“The first time I came to this function, I believe I said that one would be considered stupid if not investing in Gujarat. The second time I came, it became clear that I was amongst the stupid be- cause barring large investment in Tata chemicals many years ago, we had no new investments in Gujarat. That time I had vowed that we would make difference. Today the Tata group has in- vested or committed to invest 34000 crores in the state of Gujarat.”

Report on Vibrant Gujarat 2013 Summits Achievements

  • 1. From The Desk Vibrant Gujarat 2013 Industrial Extension Bureau Gujarat Fact File Vibrant Gujarat 2013 was a grand success with over 127 events being organized hav- ing 830 speakers from across the globe. Number of footfalls at the exhibition crossed 1,600,000. 121 Countries partici- pated with 2670 stra- tegic partnership inten- tions Over 17000 invest- ment intentions in VG 2013 with 12,886 being in the SME sector Inside this issue: Gujarat Updates 2 International Delegations 5 Focal Point 6 Events Calendar 8 Dr. Varesh Sinha, IAS Chief Secretary Government of Gujarat December’12—January’13 Issue 16

Shri Tata in his speech said, “Today when an investors looks for location to make an investment, they of course look for places industry friendly and investment friendly, but they also look forward locations that in fact execute promises, where infrastructure is adequate and good, and where labor environment is friendly and conducive to productivity.” “Gujarat stands out different and perhaps better than anywhere in the country in meeting these goals and credit for this goes to Mr. Modi for his vision for setting high standards, and of course (the credit also goes to) the great support and unity of his entire government that make every investor feel essential fulfillment and satisfaction.” “The first time I came to this function, I believe I said that one would be considered stupid if not investing in Gujarat. The second time I came, it became clear that I was amongst the stupid be- cause barring large investment in Tata chemicals many years ago, we had no new investments in Gujarat. The project is expected to cover over 100 acre of land with an investment of over Rs 50 billion over a period of 8 years. Like all other properties of Tata Housing, the projects in Gujarat will be constructed based on the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and will be designed to reduce the negative impact on the environment.
