This document discusses lessons learned from stakeholder engagement for Shoreline Management Plans that could inform marine planning. Stakeholder engagement activities for the Severn Estuary Shoreline Management Plan 2 included establishing a Coastal Group, Key Stakeholder Group, Elected Members Forum and public consultation events. What worked well was using an accessible website and individual meetings, while the Elected Members Forum was less effective likely due to lack of time and complexity of issues. Overall, engagement for such plans requires clarity on technical aspects, sufficient time for all stakeholders, and utilization of existing partnerships.
