This document provides information for a student enrolled in an online English III course. It outlines course details like semester structure, grading policies, and required books. It also gives instructions for navigating the online platform, submitting assignments, checking grades and progress, and communicating with the teacher. Students are expected to stay on pace with assignments, participate in monthly check-in calls, and adhere to academic integrity policies. Technical support contact information is also included.

2. English III is a full credit course consisting of two half credits in Semester 1 and Semester 2 You may be enrolled in Semester 1, Semester 2, or even both Each semester gives students 18 weeks to complete a half credit, or 36 weeks to complete a full credit English III

5. What is a Pace Chart? The pace chart will help you manage your assignments to finish the course. It is a good idea to write in the due date for when the assignments are to be completed. Assignments are due Sunday. Write in the dates to remind you.

6. You may choose to work at the traditional or accelerated pace. Print out your Pace Chart from the Course Information area and fill in your due dates. Start with Pace

7. Visit Course Information and read through the educator orientation. For basic questions about submitting assignments, accessing lessons, and other useful tips, Course Information should always be your first stop. You’ll find great tutorials there. Now What?

9. Finding Your Lessons Select the Drop Down Menu of the Module in which you are working.

11. How Do I Submit Assignments? You can save work as a file and upload an attachment. This is the preferred method of sending assignments. Just click “choose” or “browse” and find the file on your computer. Then click on the file. You can copy and paste or type your answers into the student comment box. There are two ways to submit a file. Copy and paste your work in the student comment area. You can upload a file in the Optional Upload area. Click this box before you click “submit”

12. How do I save files before submitting? 1. Save the file with the module and assignment number with an underscore. 2. Save the file with an rtf extension. This ensures that your teachers will be able to open and read your file. Right Way 1_05 Wrong Way 1.05 Very Important! Do not save assignments with a period; save with an underscore.

13. What is my grade? Information on individual assignments. Information on your overall grade. Feedback Grade

14. Your responsibilities. To stay active in English III you must: Submit the number of assignments each week (usually 3 or 4 a week on traditional pace). Remember to submit more than the minimum whenever possible. Fulfill communication requirements: Monthly Phone Calls and Oral assessments.

15. Oral Assessments At the ends of modules 1, 2, 4, and 6. Call me when you get there, or email me to set up an appointment. Do not skip over oral components review notes before calling

16. Communication from your teachers Check your email everyday, if not every other day. Also check your Gradebook at least once a week to review your grades and feedback on assignments you submitted. We will need to have a monthly call where I speak with you and your guardian about your progress in English III.

22. Academic Integrity In registering for this class, you agree to submit your own authentic work, not borrowed from another student or another source without giving them credit. FLVS policy is you may be removed from the course if you don’t abide by this policy. We use programs like turnitin.com to verify that your work is your own.

23. Importance of Staying on Pace It is very important that you stay on pace and complete assignments each week, in order to successfully complete the course! When you fall behind pace your grade may be lowered or you may be dropped from the course. Communicate with your teacher if you are unable to complete work or need help with an assignment.
