The use of satellite technology for traffic management It is a system in delivering safety, and reducing a high level of congestion on public roads.  It helps to preserve the criminal traffic violations. It is also used as a tool in roads management while keeping the infrastructure healthier, effective and more profitable.  It became one of the important parts of the modern understanding of traffic management.
Historical background and development of satellite technology Experiences in Eastern Asia in the late 1960s and 70s.  The value of travel time savings, and advances in congestion pricing.  The need to meet requirements of the technical specifications and standards for transportation related policies. New road financing program in the United States.
Satellite traffic control devices Red light cameras. Sensor technology. License plate recognition. Speed detection system. Flagger assistance devices. GPS-based traffic control preemption system.
Electronic toll collection technologies Automated vehicle classification. Automated vehicle identification based on RFID. Transaction processing, and violation enforcement.
International practices based on satellite technology European Electronic Tolling Service: Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) and GPS/GSM based systems.  The operation of electronic road user charging systems in Singapore, London, or Stockholm. Innovative combination of mobile communication systems (GSM) and the satellite-based global positioning system (GPS) in Poland.
Meaning for administrative practice  Small amount of time public officers spend on traffic enforcement issues. Making the most important decisions - fight crime towards good practice in traffic management.  The use of electronic devices to deliver public services is often viewed as problematic from an ethical point of view.  The question about the quality of government's performance when services are delivered to people using satellite systems.
