Course Description
The course is intended to provide the students a structure
within which one can design effective and efficient instruction and
develop instructional materials in Science Education. The course
describes the process that is internally consistent with
understanding by design, that is, it embraces a specific approach
which makes it possible and easier for students to achieve closure
on the process.
In the discourse of the subject contents, the course integrate
information about the nature of science, its impact to technology
and society, as well as the influence of technological breakthrough
and social conditions on scientific` development.
Course Goals
1. explain the concept of pedagogy;
2. analyze the application of pedagogy in the teaching and learning process;
3. plan and organize instruction utilizing an appropriate instructional model;
4. design lessons applying various instructional models;
5. match a specific instructional model with specific learning skills and styles
of students;
6. provide experiences in utilizing alternative skills of learning;
7. provide experiences in developing problem solving and critical-thinking
skills;
8. provide examples of sample lessons that demonstrate the use and
implementation of each instructional model; and
9. show appreciation on the principles of teaching and use of instructional
models by identifying practice and develop the skills necessary teaching.
