There is need of a much
closer study of the word of God;
especially should Daniel and
the Revelation have attention
as never before in the history
of our work. We may have
less to say in some lines, in
regard to the Roman power
and the papacy; but we should
call attention to what the prophets and apostles have written
under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit
has so shaped matters, both in the giving of the prophecy and in
the events portrayed, as to teach that the human agent is to be
kept out of sight, hid in Christ, and that the Lord God of heaven
and His law are to be exalted. Read the book of Daniel. Call up,
point by point, the history of the kingdoms there represented.
Behold statesmen, councils, powerful armies, and see how God
wrought to abase the pride of men, and lay human glory in the
dust. . . . {TM 112.2}
Ephesians 1:4-5
According as He hath chosen
us in Him before the foundation
of the world, that we should be
holy and without blame before
Him in love: Having
predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to
himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be
conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn
among many brethren.
Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that
justifieth.
Who are those that God
has chosen?
CALLING
God has chosen us in Christ, and it is your choice to come to Him
John 1:12
But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons
of God, even to them that believe on His name:
Hebrews 7:25
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God
by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Bible Commentary of Heb.7:25
7BC 931.1
Christ is able to save to the uttermost all who come to Him in faith. He will cleanse
them from all defilement if they will let Him. But if they cling to their sins, they cannot
possibly be saved; for Christ's righteousness covers no sin unrepented of. God has
declared that those who receive Christ as their Redeemer, accepting Him as the
One who takes away all sin, will receive pardon for their transgressions. These are
the terms of our election. Man's salvation depends upon his receiving Christ by faith.
Those who will not receive Him lose eternal life because they refused to avail
themselves of the only means provided by the Father and the Son for the salvation
of a perishing world (MS 142, 1899).
CALLING
God calls us through the gospel
2 Thessalonians 2:14
Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the
obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This gospel is about Christ’s death, burial
and ressurection
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached
unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached
unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how
that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures:
Through the Gospel, we accept
Christ and His righteousness
becomes our righteousness and we
are accepted before God as though
we had never sinned.
We align ourselves to the Choice
that God made in Christ.

Every soul is elected who will work out his own salvation with
fear and trembling. He is elected who will put on the armor and
fight the good fight of faith. He is elected who will watch unto
prayer, who will search the Scriptures, and flee from
temptation. He is elected who will have faith continually,
and who will be obedient to every word that proceedeth
out of the mouth of God. The provisions of redemption are
free to all; the results of redemption will be enjoyed by those
who have complied with the conditions.

The Best Life Insurance.-
- Here are your life-insurance papers. This is not an
insurance policy the value of which someone else will
receive after your death; it is a policy that assures you
a life measuring with the life of God--even eternal
life….It depends upon your course of action as to
whether or not you will secure the benefits bestowed
upon those who, as the elect of God, receive an

•Since many other church-
denominations claim the
reformation as their fathers,
what then do Adventists have
to offer the world? The
answer is the gospel of
Righteousness by Faith.
Our Message
• The message of Christ's
righteousness is to sound from one
end of the earth to the other to
prepare the way of the Lord. This is
the glory of God, which closes the
work of the third angel.--6T 19
(1900). {LDE 200.3}
“Those who have an opportunity to hear the
truth, and yet take no pains to hear or
understand it, thinking that if they do not
hear, they will not be accountable, will be
judged guilty before God the same as if they
had heard and rejected. There will be no
excuse for those who choose to go in error
when they might understand what is truth.”
(5BC page 1145.2)
• “Jesus also told them (angels) …that He would
take man's fallen nature, and His strength
would not be even equal with theirs” (spiritual
gifts vol. 1 pg 151)
• “This was the reception the Saviour met as he
came to a fallen world... and took upon himself
man's nature, that he might save the fallen
race. Instead of men glorifying God for the
honor he had conferred upon them in thus
sending his Son in the likeness of sinful flesh,.
• by giving him a place in their affections, there
seemed to be no rest nor safety for the infant
Saviour. Jehovah could not trust to the
inhabitants of the world his Son, who came
into the world that through his divine power
he might redeem fallen man.” (spirit of
prophecy vol.2 page 29.2)
Can man be holy?
“Abundant grace has been provided that the
believing soul may be kept free from sin; for
all heaven, with its limitless resources, has
been placed at our command.” (1SM 394)
• There was in Him nothing that responded to
Satan's sophistry. He did not consent to sin. Not
even by a thought did He yield to temptation. So
it may be with us. Christ's humanity was united
with divinity; He was fitted for the conflict by the
indwelling of the Holy Spirit. And He came to
make us partakers of the divine nature. So long as
we are united to Him by faith, sin has no more
dominion over us. God reaches for the hand of
faith in us to direct it to lay fast hold upon the
divinity of Christ, that we may attain to
perfection of character. {DA 123.3}
1 Peter 2:21, 22
• 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called:
because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an
example, that ye should follow his steps:
2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his
mouth
MATHEW 5:48
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in
heaven is perfect.”
“The Saviour took upon Himself the infirmities
of humanity and lived a sinless life, that men
might have no fear that because of the
weakness of human nature they could not
overcome. Christ came to make us "partakers of
the divine nature," and His life declares that
humanity, combined with divinity, does not
commit sin.” (ministry of healing page 180)
“God's ideal for His children is higher than the
highest human thought can reach. "Be ye
therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in
heaven is perfect." This command is a promise.
The plan of redemption contemplates our
complete recovery from the power of Satan.
Christ always separates the contrite soul from
sin. He came to destroy the works of the devil,
and He has made provision that the Holy Spirit
shall be imparted to every repentant soul, to
keep him from sinning.” {DA 311.2}
• “Those who wait for the Bridegroom’s
coming, must say to the world, “Behold your
God!”. The last rays of merciful light, the last
message of mercy to be carried to the world,
will be a revelation of His character of Love”.
(COL 415).
• “On the one hand, religionists generally have
divorced the law and the gospel, while we
have, on the other hand, almost done the
same from another standpoint. We have not
held up before the people the righteousness
of Christ and the full significance of His great
plan of redemption. We have left out Christ
and His matchless love, brought in theories
and reasonings, and preached argumentative
discourses”. {FW 15.3}
Sermons Without Content:
• “As a people, we have preached the law until we
are as dry as the hills of Gilboa that had neither
dew nor rain. We must preach Christ in the law,
and there will be sap and nourishment in the
preaching that will be as food to the famishing
flock of God. We must not trust in our own merits
at all, but in the merits of Jesus of Nazareth. Our
eyes must be anointed with eye-salve. We must
draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to us, if we
come in his own appointed way. O that you may go
forth as the disciples did after the day of
Pentecost, and then your testimony will have a
living ring, and souls will be converted to God”.
{1888 560.4}
Faith & Works, 18.
• “The point that has been urged upon my
mind for years is the imputed
righteousness of Christ. I have wondered
that this matter was not made the
subject of discourses in our churches
throughout the land, when the matter
has been kept so constantly urged upon
me, and I have made it the subject of
nearly every discourse and talk that I
have given to the people”.
• “The uplifted Savior is to appear in His
efficacious work as the Lamb slain, sitting
upon the throne, to dispense the priceless
covenant blessings, the benefits He died to
purchase for every soul. ….. The message of
the gospel of His grace was to be given to the
church in clear and distinct lines, that the
world should no longer say that Seventh-day
Adventists talk the law, the law, but do not
teach or believe Christ”. {TM 92.1}
1888 Materials 842, 844-45
• “The preaching of Christ crucified, has been
strangely neglected by our people. Many who
claim to believe the truth have no knowledge
of faith in Christ by experience. There must
be a life giving power in the ministry. Life must
be infused in the missionaries in every place,
that they may go forth giving the trumpet no
uncertain sound, but with heaven sent
awakening power, such as can be found only
in the preaching of Jesus Christ, His love, His
forgiveness, His grace”.
What The People Needed:
• “There is one great central truth to be kept
ever before the mind in the searching of
the Scriptures—Christ and Him crucified.
Every other truth is invested with
influence and power corresponding to its
relation to this theme.... The soul palsied
by sin can be endowed with life only
through the work wrought out upon the
cross by the Author of our salvation”.
{FLB 50.2}
• “Then said the Lord unto me, Go
yet, love a woman beloved of her
friend, yet an adulteress, according
to the love of the Lord toward the
children of Israel, who look to
other gods, and love flagons of
wine’. 3:1.
• “The cross of Calvary is just a dim
realization to our dull senses of the
pain which sin has caused to the very
heart of God ever since its inception”.
The Principle Of Attraction:
“And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim,
wherein she burned incense to them, and she
decked herself with her earrings and her
jewels, and she went after her lovers, and
forgat me, saith the Lord.
• Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and
bring her into the wilderness, and speak
comfortably unto her”. (Hosea 2:14).
• “…With lovingkindness have I drawn
thee”. [Jer. 31:3].
Desire of Ages, 480.
• “It is not the fear of punishment or the
hope of everlasting reward that leads the
disciples of Christ to follow Him. They
behold the Savior’s pilgrimage from
Bethlehem’s manger to Calvary’s cross;
and the sight of Him attracts; it softens
and subdues the soul; love awakens in
the heart, they hear His voice and they
follow Him”.
The Close of Probation
Laodicean Message for Adventists.
The message to the Laodicean church is highly
applicable to us as a people. It has been placed
before us for a long time, but has not been
heeded as it should have been. When the work
of repentance is earnest and deep, the individual
members of the church will buy the rich goods of
heaven. [Revelation 3:18 quoted.] Oh, how many
behold things in a perverted light, in the light in
which Satan would have them see. {The Review
and Herald, December 15,1904, 7 bc 961.3}

Plagues
It was impossible for the plagues to be poured out while Jesus officiated
in the sanctuary; but as His work there is finished, and His intercession
closes, there is nothing to stay the wrath of God, and it breaks with fury
upon the shelterless head of the guilty sinner, who has slighted (EW 280)
salvation and hated reproof. In that fearful time, after the close of
Jesus’ mediation, the saints were living in the sight of a holy God
without an intercessor. Every case was decided, every jewel numbered.

The Test
We Are in the Day of Atonement
We are in the great day of atonement, when our sins are, by
confession and repentance, to go beforehand to judgment.
God does not now accept a tame, spiritless testimony from
His ministers. Such a testimony would not be present truth.
The message for this time must be meat in due season to
feed the church of God. But Satan has been seeking
gradually to rob this message of its power, that the people
may not be prepared to stand in the day of the Lord. {1SM
124.3}
In 1844 our great High Priest entered the most holy place
of the heavenly sanctuary, to begin the work of the
investigative judgment. The cases of the righteous dead
have been passing in review before God. WHEN THAT
WORK SHALL BE COMPLETED, JUDGMENT IS TO BE
PRONOUNCED UPON THE LIVING. {1SM 125.1}
It is no time to be ashamed of our faith. We are a spectacle
to the world, to angels, and to men. The whole universe is
looking with inexpressible interest to see the closing work
of the great controversy between Christ and Satan. AT
SUCH A TIME AS THIS, JUST AS THE GREAT WORK OF
JUDGING THE LIVING IS TO BEGIN, SHALL WE ALLOW
UNSANCTIFIED AMBITION TO TAKE POSSESSION OF THE
HEART? What can be of any worth to us now except to be
found loyal and true to the God of heaven? What is there of
any real value in this world when we are on the very
borders of the eternal world? What education can we give
to the students in our schools that is so necessary as a
knowledge of "What saith the Scripture"? {5T 526.1}
Oh, that the people might know the time of
their visitation! There are many who have
not yet heard the testing truth for this time.
There are many with whom the Spirit of God
is striving. The time of God's destructive
judgments is the time of mercy for those
who have had no opportunity to learn what
is truth. Tenderly will the Lord look upon
them. His heart of mercy is touched; His
hand is still stretched out to save, while the
door is closed to those who would not enter.
{9T 97.2}
I also saw that many do not realize what they
must be in order to live in the sight of the
Lord without a high priest in the sanctuary
through the time of trouble. Those who
receive the seal of the living God and are
protected in the time of trouble must reflect
the image of Jesus fully. {EW 71.1}

preparations
Jeremiah 3:15
Final PREPARATIONS
when I learned, with pain, that, in order to make the
institution popular with those not of our faith and to
secure their patronage, a spirit of compromise was
rapidly gaining ground at the Institute, manifested in
the use of Mr., Miss, and Mrs., instead of Brother and
Sister, and in popular amusements, in which all could
engage in a sort of comparatively innocent frolic--
when I saw these things, I said: This is not that which
was shown me as an institution for the sick which
would share the signal blessing of God. This is
another thing. {1T 633.2}
Final PREPARATIONS
Young men are arising to engage in
the work of God, some of whom have
scarcely any sense of the sacredness
and responsibility of the work. . . .
They talk nonsense, and sport with
young girls, while almost daily
listening to the most solemn, soul-
stirring truths.--Testimonies, vol. 3, p.

Final PREPARATIONS
Just as long as God has a church, he will have those
who will cry aloud and spare not, who will be his
instruments to reprove selfishness and sins, and will
not shun to declare the whole counsel of God,
whether men will hear or forbear. I saw that
individuals would rise up against the plain testimonies.
It does not suit their natural feelings. They would
choose to have smooth things spoken unto them, and
have peace cried in their ears. I view the church in a
more dangerous condition than they ever have been.
Experimental religion is known but by a few. The
shaking must soon take place to purify the church.
{2SG 284.1}
Final PREPARATIONS
Preachers should have no scruples to preach the truth
as it is found in God's word. Let the truth cut. I have
been shown that why ministers have not more success
is, they are afraid of hurting feelings, fearful of not
being courteous, and they lower the standard of truth,
and conceal if possible the peculiarity of our faith. I
saw that God could not make such successful. The
truth must be made pointed, and the necessity of a
decision urged. And as false shepherds are crying,
Peace, and are preaching smooth things, the servants
of God must cry aloud, and spare not, and leave the
result with God. {2SG 284.2}
Final PREPARATIONS
Clad in the armor of Christ's righteousness, the church
is to enter upon her final conflict. "Fair as the moon,
clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with
banners," she is to go forth into all the world,
conquering and to conquer. {ML 311.2}
Only the covering which Christ Himself has
provided can make us meet to appear in God's
presence. This covering, the robe of His own
righteousness, Christ will put upon every repenting,
believing soul. "I counsel thee," He says, "to buy of Me
. . . white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and
that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear." . . .
{ML 311.3}
Final PREPARATIONS
"All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags." Everything that we
of ourselves can do is defiled by sin. But the Son of God was
"manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin." Sin is
defined to be "the transgression of the law." But Christ was
obedient to every requirement of the law. . . . When on earth
He said to His disciples, "I have kept My Father's
commandments." By His perfect obedience He has made it
possible for every human being to obey God's commandments.
When we submit ourselves to Christ . . . we live His life. This is
what it means to be clothed with the garment of His
righteousness. Then, as the Lord looks upon us, He sees, not
the fig-leaf garment, not the nakedness and deformity of sin,
but His own robe of righteousness, which is perfect obedience
to the law of Jehovah. {ML 311.4}
Final PREPARATIONS
To every one God has made an offer that
will help to brace every nerve and spiritual
muscle for the time of test that is to come
to us all. I am charged with the message,
Clothe yourself with the whole armor of
Christ's righteousness. . . . And, having
done all you can do on your part, you have
the assurance of victory. To every soul is
granted the gracious opportunity of
standing on the Rock of Ages. {ML 311.5}
Final PREPARATIONS
Not one of us will ever receive the seal of
God while our characters have one spot or
stain upon them. It is left with us to
remedy the defects in our characters, to
cleanse the soul temple of every
defilement. Then the latter rain will fall
upon us as the early rain fell upon the
disciples on the Day of Pentecost. {5T
214.2}
Final PREPARATIONS
These momentous events are nigh at hand, yet many
who profess to believe the truth are asleep. They will
surely be numbered with the unfaithful servant who
saith in his heart, "My Lord delayeth His coming," if
they remain in their present position of friendship
with the world. It is only to those who are waiting in
hope and faith that Christ will appear, without sin unto
salvation. Many have the theory of the truth who
know not the power of godliness. If the word of God
dwelt in the heart, it would control the life. Faith,
purity, and conformity to the will of God would testify
to its sanctifying power. {5T 15.1}
Final PREPARATIONS
It is in a crisis that character is revealed. When the earnest
voice proclaimed at midnight, "Behold, the bridegroom
cometh; go ye out to meet him," and the sleeping virgins
were roused from their slumbers, it was seen who had made
preparation for the event. Both parties were taken
unawares; but one was prepared for the emergency, and the
other was found without preparation. So now, a sudden and
unlooked-for calamity, something that brings the soul face to
face with death, will show whether there is any real faith in
the promises of God. It will show whether the soul is
sustained by grace. The great final test comes at the close of
human probation, when it will be too late for the soul's need
to be supplied. {COL 412.1}
Final PREPARATIONS
Let everyone who loves God consider that now while it
is day is the time to work, not among the sheep
already in the fold, but to go out in search of the lost
and perishing ones. These need to have special help to
bring them back to the fold. Now is the time for the
careless to arouse from their slumber. Now is the time
to entreat that souls shall not only hear the word of
God, but without delay secure oil in their vessels with
their lamps. That oil is the righteousness of Christ. It
represents character, and character is not transferable.
No man can secure it for another. Each must obtain for
himself a character purified from every stain of sin.
{TM 233.2}
Final PREPARATIONS
A revival of true godliness

most urgent of all our needs.
To seek this should be our

not appointed and He will have a

prepared for the latter rain.--3SM

Final PREPARATIONS
The Lord Jesus will always have a chosen
people to serve Him. When the Jewish people
rejected Christ, the Prince of life, He took from
them the kingdom of God and gave it unto the
Gentiles. God will continue to work on this
principle with every branch of His work. When
a church proves unfaithful to the word of the
Lord, whatever their position may be, however
high and sacred their calling, the Lord can no
longer work with them. Others are then chosen
to bear important responsibilities. . . {UL 131.3}
Final PREPARATIONS
Thus the message of the third angel will be
proclaimed. As the time comes for it to be given
with greatest power, the Lord will work through
humble instruments, leading the minds of
those who consecrate themselves to His
service. The laborers will be qualified rather by
the unction of His Spirit than by the training of
literary institutions. Men of faith and prayer will
be constrained to go forth with holy zeal,
declaring the words which God gives them. {GC
606.2}
Final PREPARATIONS
"Time is almost finished. Do you reflect the
lovely image of Jesus as you should?" Then I
was pointed to the earth and saw that there
would have to be a getting ready among those
who have of late embraced the third angel's
message. Said the angel, "Get ready, get ready,
get ready. Ye will have to die a greater death to
the world than ye have ever yet died." I saw
that there was a great work to do for them and
but little time in which to do it. {EW 64.1}
1Chronicles 12:32: And of the
children of Issachar, which were
men that had understanding of the
times, to know what Israel ought to
do; the heads of them were two
hundred; and all their brethren
were at their commandment.
God bears long with the perversity and stubbornness of
men. By warnings and reproofs he shows them their true
condition. Again and again he calls them to repentance.
Though the multitudes wax bold in sin, trampling upon
his mercy and defying his justice, still he pours his
blessings upon them. Oh, how infinitely beyond human
comprehension are the Lord's mercy and forbearance
toward the children of men! Yet there is a limit, beyond
which men may not go on in sin. When the fullness of
iniquity is reached,--as with the Amorites, and the
children of Israel who fell in the wilderness,--then the
wrath of God is visited upon the transgressors of his law.
{ST, December 15, 1881 par. 11}
The Message to Present.--Our lesson for the present time is, How may
we most clearly comprehend and present the gospel that Christ came in
person to present to John on the Isle of Patmos,-- the gospel that is
termed "the revelation of Jesus Christ"? We are to present to our people
a clear explanation of Revelation. We are to give them the word of God
just as it is, with as few of our own explanations as possible. No one
mind can do this work alone. Although we have in trust the grandest and
most important truth ever presented to the world, we are only babes, as
far as understanding truth in all its bearings is concerned. Christ is the
great teacher, and that which He revealed to John, we are to tax our
minds to understand and clearly to define. We are facing the most
important issues that men have ever been called upon to meet. {CW
29.2} The theme of greatest importance is the third angel's message,
embracing the messages of the first and second angels. All should
understand the truths contained in these messages and demonstrate
them in daily life, for this is essential to salvation. We shall have to study
earnestly, prayerfully, in order to understand these grand truths.--Letter
97, 1902. {CW 29.3}
SEVEN DAYS TO MAKE A CHRISTIAN
Revelation 8:1: And when
he had opened the
seventh seal, there was
silence in heaven about
the space of half an hour.
REDEEMED TAKE SEVEN DAYS TRAVELING TO HEAVEN.—
We all entered the cloud together, and were seven days
ascending to the sea of glass, when Jesus brought the crowns,
and with His own right hand placed them on our heads. He gave
us harps of gold and palms of victory. Here on the sea of glass the
144,000 stood in a perfect square. Some of them had very bright
crowns, others not so bright. Some crowns appeared heavy with
stars, while others had but few. All were perfectly satisfied with
their crowns. And they were all clothed with a glorious white
mantle from their shoulders to their feet. Angels were all about us
as we marched over the sea of glass to the gate of the city. Jesus
raised His mighty, glorious arm, laid hold of the pearly gate,
swung it back on its glittering hinges, and said to us, “You have
washed your robes in My blood, stood stiffly for My truth, enter in.”
We all marched in and felt that we had a perfect right in the city.—

A Special Class in Heaven
Some among the redeemed will have laid
hold of Christ in the last hours of life, and in
heaven instruction will be given to those
who, when they died, did not understand
perfectly the plan of salvation. Christ will
lead the redeemed ones beside the river of
life, and will open to them that which while
on this earth they could not understand.--
Undated manuscript 150. {1SM 262.2}
As the ministration of Jesus closed in the holy place, and He passed into the
holiest, and stood before the ark containing the law of God, He sent another
mighty angel with a third message to the world. A parchment was placed in the
angel's hand, and as he descended to the earth in power and majesty, he
proclaimed a fearful warning, with the most terrible threatening ever borne to
man. This message was designed to put the children of God upon their guard,
by showing them the hour of temptation and anguish that was before them.
Said the angel, "They will be brought into close combat with the beast and his
image. Their only hope of eternal life is to remain steadfast. Although their lives
are at stake, they must hold fast the truth." The third angel closes his message
thus: "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the
commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." As he repeated these words,
he pointed to the heavenly sanctuary. The minds of all who embrace this
message are directed to the most holy place, where Jesus stands before the
ark, making His final intercession for all those for whom mercy still lingers and
for those who have ignorantly broken the law of God. This atonement is made
for the righteous dead as well as for the righteous living. It includes all who died
trusting in Christ, but who, not having received the light upon God's
commandments, had sinned ignorantly in transgressing its precepts. {EW
254.1}
I also saw that many do not realize
what they must be in order to live in
the sight of the Lord without a high
priest in the sanctuary through the
time of trouble. Those who receive
the seal of the living God and are
protected in the time of trouble must
reflect the image of Jesus fully.
{EW 71.1}
It is in a crisis that character is revealed. When the
earnest voice proclaimed at midnight, "Behold, the
bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him," and the
sleeping virgins were roused from their slumbers, it was
seen who had made preparation for the event. Both
parties were taken unawares; but one was prepared for
the emergency, and the other was found without
preparation. So now, a sudden and unlooked-for
calamity, something that brings the soul face to face with
death, will show whether there is any real faith in the
promises of God. It will show whether the soul is
sustained by grace. The great final test comes at the
close of human probation, when it will be too late for the
soul's need to be supplied. {COL 412.1}

    There is needof a much closer study of the word of God; especially should Daniel and the Revelation have attention as never before in the history of our work. We may have less to say in some lines, in regard to the Roman power and the papacy; but we should call attention to what the prophets and apostles have written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit has so shaped matters, both in the giving of the prophecy and in the events portrayed, as to teach that the human agent is to be kept out of sight, hid in Christ, and that the Lord God of heaven and His law are to be exalted. Read the book of Daniel. Call up, point by point, the history of the kingdoms there represented. Behold statesmen, councils, powerful armies, and see how God wrought to abase the pride of men, and lay human glory in the dust. . . . {TM 112.2}

Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who are those that God has chosen?

Bible Commentary of Heb.7:25 7BC 931.1 Christ is able to save to the uttermost all who come to Him in faith. He will cleanse them from all defilement if they will let Him. But if they cling to their sins, they cannot possibly be saved; for Christ's righteousness covers no sin unrepented of. God has declared that those who receive Christ as their Redeemer, accepting Him as the One who takes away all sin, will receive pardon for their transgressions. These are the terms of our election. Man's salvation depends upon his receiving Christ by faith. Those who will not receive Him lose eternal life because they refused to avail themselves of the only means provided by the Father and the Son for the salvation of a perishing world (MS 142, 1899).

They would choose to have smooth things spoken unto them, and have peace cried in their ears. I view the church in a more dangerous condition than they ever have been. I saw that God could not make such successful. The truth must be made pointed, and the necessity of a decision urged.     God bears longwith the perversity and stubbornness of men. By warnings and reproofs he shows them their true condition. Again and again he calls them to repentance. Though the multitudes wax bold in sin, trampling upon his mercy and defying his justice, still he pours his blessings upon them. Oh, how infinitely beyond human comprehension are the Lord's mercy and forbearance toward the children of men! Yet there is a limit, beyond which men may not go on in sin.     The Message toPresent.--Our lesson for the present time is, How may we most clearly comprehend and present the gospel that Christ came in person to present to John on the Isle of Patmos,-- the gospel that is termed "the revelation of Jesus Christ"? We are to present to our people a clear explanation of Revelation. We are to give them the word of God just as it is, with as few of our own explanations as possible. No one mind can do this work alone. Although we have in trust the grandest and most important truth ever presented to the world, we are only babes, as far as understanding truth in all its bearings is concerned. Christ is the great teacher, and that which He revealed to John, we are to tax our minds to understand and clearly to define. We are facing the most important issues that men have ever been called upon to meet. {CW 29.2} The theme of greatest importance is the third angel's message, embracing the messages of the first and second angels. All should understand the truths contained in these messages and demonstrate them in daily life, for this is essential to salvation. We shall have to study earnestly, prayerfully, in order to understand these grand truths.--Letter 97, 1902. {CW 29.3}

    As the ministrationof Jesus closed in the holy place, and He passed into the holiest, and stood before the ark containing the law of God, He sent another mighty angel with a third message to the world. A parchment was placed in the angel's hand, and as he descended to the earth in power and majesty, he proclaimed a fearful warning, with the most terrible threatening ever borne to man. This message was designed to put the children of God upon their guard, by showing them the hour of temptation and anguish that was before them. Said the angel, "They will be brought into close combat with the beast and his image. Their only hope of eternal life is to remain steadfast. Although their lives are at stake, they must hold fast the truth." The third angel closes his message thus: "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." As he repeated these words, he pointed to the heavenly sanctuary. The minds of all who embrace this message are directed to the most holy place, where Jesus stands before the ark, making His final intercession for all those for whom mercy still lingers and for those who have ignorantly broken the law of God. This atonement is made for the righteous dead as well as for the righteous living. It includes all who died trusting in Christ, but who, not having received the light upon God's commandments, had sinned ignorantly in transgressing its precepts. {EW 254.1}

    I also sawthat many do not realize what they must be in order to live in the sight of the Lord without a high priest in the sanctuary through the time of trouble. Those who receive the seal of the living God and are protected in the time of trouble must reflect the image of Jesus fully. {EW 71.1}

    It is ina crisis that character is revealed. When the earnest voice proclaimed at midnight, "Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him," and the sleeping virgins were roused from their slumbers, it was seen who had made preparation for the event. Both parties were taken unawares; but one was prepared for the emergency, and the other was found without preparation. So now, a sudden and unlooked-for calamity, something that brings the soul face to face with death, will show whether there is any real faith in the promises of God. It will show whether the soul is sustained by grace. The great final test comes at the close of human probation, when it will be too late for the soul's need to be supplied. {COL 412.1}

  • #14 WHAT ABOUT JESUS?
22 Yeye hakutenda dhambi, wala hila haikuonekana kinywani mwake. Maana hawana mawaa.
  • #27 Our people needed that emphasis. It was the neglected emphasis, the lack of which caused our people to be struggling in s futile effort to break the power of sin, digging themselves into an ever deepening ditch of legalism, trying to break the power of sin, which only God’s love through the emphasis of the cross can break.
  • #28 This picture was created in 1876 by James White, husband of Ellen White, who was another co-founder of the church. It shows the plan of salvation from the Garden of Eden to the New Jerusalem.  As you look at this picture, what image is the largest? As you probably noted, the picture is dominated by the law tree with ten branches, one for each of the ten commandments. Jesus on the cross is also present but he is under the tree. The message of this picture seems to be that “the way of life” is dominated by the law. Just a few years after the picture was published Ellen White realized that the preaching only of the law was turning the church strongly towards legalism. She even tried to get her husband to change the emphasis of the church. After James White died in 1882, Ellen White published a revised picture in 1883. -
  • #29 The new element was the gospel, the message of Justification By Faith; the gospel of God’s grace, the central theme, which she said would become the focus of all who are walking in the light of truth and being purified by the truth. The matchless theme of God’s love as revealed upon the cross of Calvary. This was the central pillar that unites every doctrinal point, and without it every doctrine we have becomes merely an argument without any converting power.
  • #30 Hosea, when you feel what it feels to love someone with every fiber of your being, only to be rejected and spurned, and have your heart broken in pieces by them; and to know of her having an adulterous affair every single moment of every single day, tell My people, that this is how God loves them and this is how He feels. This is what it feels like to be God. In fact, this is just a mere glimpse of how sin impacts upon the heart of God.
  • #31 The Bible makes it very clear, that sin is the breaking of God’s heart. The law is an expression of what is in the very heart of God, and sin violates the very gentle, sensitive heart of God. But now, how does God respond? How does God seek to correct this situation? What does He do?
  • #32 By I will allure her, God is saying, I will court your affections. I will win your heart by wooing you. I will seek to persuade your heart by the power of attraction; by attracting you to the beauty of My love. The way I will save you from sin, is not by forcing you, or in any way coercing you, but by enticing, or alluring you to Me. I and going to nurture within your heart, a response of love by My love for you. “Only by love is love awakened”. 1 John 4:19. God chooses simply not to use force, but by winning our hearts by His love, so that we make a willful and deliberate choice to enter into a marriage with Him.
  • #33 In the early stages of our Christian walk, we tend to relate to God from the position of doing what He says because we don’t want to anger or upset Him. Or maybe, because we want to go to heaven, we don’t want to be lost. We are babes and don’t quite understand, and God is gentle with us in leading us and growing us up out of this kind of motivation. So He allows us to approach Him as a Master, our hearts filled with misunderstandings concerning His character. And He meets us right there, where we are, and continues to grow us up into the maturity of a love relationship with Himself.
