WHY IS
G o o d ?

2
  Cor
  5:21

God
  made
  Him
  who
  had
  no
  sin
  to
  be
  sin
  for
  us,
  so
  that
  in

Him
  we
  might
  become
  the
  righteousness
  of
  God.

Rom
  5:8

But
  God
  demonstrates
  His
  own
  love
  for
  us
  in
  this:

While
  we
  were
  sBll
  sinners,
  Christ
  died
  for
  us.

John
  3:16

For
  God
  so
  loved
  the
  world
  that
  He
  gave
  his
  one
  and

only
  Son,
  that
  whoever
  believes
  in
  Him
  shall
  not
  perish

but
  have
  eternal
  life.

Jesus was perfect,
sinless, holy,
yet a Friend of sinners.
He accepted and
forgave them their sins.
Ultimately He
was betrayed
by one of His
disciples.
Jesus went through
6 trials (3 religious,
3 civil);
Yet the political
leaders Pontius
Pilate and King
Herod could not
find any fault in
Him.
Finally, with false witnesses,
they got Him convicted on
the count that He claimed to
be the Son of God.
Pilate asked the
crowds,
“Whom will you that I
release to you?
Barabbas or Jesus who
is called Christ?”
Isaiah 53:2-3
“He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing
in His appearance that we should desire Him. He was
despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows, and familiar
with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces He
was despised, and we esteemed Him not.”
Jesus received 39 stripes from the
“cat-o-nine tails” whips
Verses 24 -26: And they crucified Him. Dividing
up His clothes, they cast lots to see what each
would get. It was 9 in the morning when they
crucified Him. The written notice of the charge
against Him read: “the King of the Jews”
Isaiah
  53:4–5

“We
  considered
  Him
  stricken
  by
  God,
  smitten
  by

Him,
  and
  afflicted.
  But
  He
  was
  pierced
  for
  our

transgressions,
  He
  was
  crushed
  for
  our

iniquities;
  the
  punishment
  that
  brought
  us
  peace

was
  upon
  Him,
  and
  by
  His
  wounds
  we
  are
  healed.”

Isaiah
  53:7

“He
  was
  oppressed
  and
  afflicted,
  yet
  He
  did

not
  open
  His
  mouth.”

Jesus
  died
  that
  we
  might
  live
  through
  Him.

Jesus died that we might live for Him.

“If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no
sacrifice is too great for me to make for Him.”
- CT Studd
Who
  do
  you
  live
  for?
  What
  do
  you
  live
  for?

Jesus
  died
  so
  we
  can
  find
  our
  real

purpose
  in
  life
  and
  that
  is
  to
  live
  for
  God.

Jesus died also that we might live with Him.

Mark 15: 38-39
“The curtain of the temple was torn in two
from top to bottom. And when the
centurion, who stood there in front of
Jesus, saw how He died, he said, “Surely
this man was the Son of God!”
John 14: 2-3
“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if
it were not so, I would have told you. I go to
prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come again
and receive you to Myself; that where I am,
there you may be also.”

Heb 10:19-22
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have
confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of
Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the
curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest
over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a
sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings,
having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty
conscience and having our bodies washed with pure
water.”
So
  why
  is
  Good
  Friday
  good?

It
  is
  good
  because
  you
  and
  I
  can
  now
  have
  peace
  with

God.

Isaiah 53:5
“He was pierced for our transgressions, He
was crushed for our iniquities; the
punishment that brought us peace was upon
Him, and by His wounds we are healed.”
The wounds of Jesus are strength for the weary, comfort
for the sorrowing, and healing for the wounded of heart
and body.
The empty tomb: 3 days later.
He is not there –He is risen.
He
  was
  dead
  and
  is
  now
  alive.
