KTMB’s Great Community Cleanup 2015 Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful
Volunteers will clean up 18 sites throughout the Truckee Meadows as part of KTMB's Great Community Cleanup on May 2, 2015. An Eagle Scout candidate, Jake Waters, initiated a project to remove 15 illegally dumped cars from ravines using helicopters from the Nevada National Guard. The car removal will help reduce illegal dumping and pollution. New this year, green waste collected during the cleanup will be composted instead of sent to the landfill, thanks to a grant from Waste Management.

The Honolulu Ethics Commission determined that gifts to the city cannot be used to pay for the travel expenses of the spouse of the Mayor of Honolulu to China. The Commission found that while Mrs. Carlisle's attendance at functions in China had merit, her presence was not necessary to achieve a city purpose. As she was neither a city officer nor employee, using city funds or gifts to the city to pay for her travel would not be for a legitimate public purpose. The Mayor was recommended to reimburse the city $3,300 for the cost of his wife's travel. Gifts can only be used for legitimate government activities, and only the City Council can accept gifts on behalf of the city.

Peter C. Lemon will be the closing speaker at the 2013 DCUC Conference on August 15th. As a young recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during the Vietnam War, Lemon distinguished himself through extraordinary courage and determination while defending Fire Support Base Illingworth under heavy enemy attack. Despite being wounded multiple times, he continued to fight the enemy through hand-to-hand combat and by throwing hand grenades. Even after his weapons malfunctioned, he secured an operable machine gun and provided suppressive fire until collapsing from his wounds. Lemon's bravery helped drive the enemy from the position and saved many lives, earning him the nation's highest military honor. Today, he remains

During the heated meeting where Celico was hired, the three white school board members voted to remove the African American board president from her traditional role in contract negotiations. Several parents at the meeting shouted that one of the white board members was a "racist" who should be recalled. Celico has experience as an assistant superintendent and teacher and pledged to provide an excellent learning environment for all students.

We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
