2. Rönesans Holding, a large construction company based in Turkey, gained a new key
shareholder in July. The deal involves a $215 million investment from the International
Finance Corporation (IFC), the premier global development company operating in the private
sector.
IFC selected Rönesans in part due to its location. Turkey is one of the top-ranked nations for
investments, accumulating $1.8 billion in investments in fiscal 2015. In addition, both
Rönesans Holding and IFC previously partnered on a hospital construction project in Adana.
With the new agreement, IFC plans to expand the international influence of Rönesans.
Since 1993, Rönesans has completed multiple builds as the main contractor and investor in
Turkey and 20 other countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. Projects range from
high-rise towers to municipal infrastructure. Following are 13 Middle East projects from the
portfolio of Rönesans Holding.
3. 1. College of Media and Communication for Education City – Doha, Qatar
Rönesans collaborated with the Qatar Foundation to build the College of Media and
Communication. Encompassing roughly 14 square kilometers, the development will
ultimately comprise 30 buildings for students ranging from grade school to
graduate level. Northwestern University in Qatar is one of the many expected to
establish a branch at CMC.
4. 2. Park Gulan – Erbil, Iraq
The Park Gulan features three buildings: a residential tower, an office tower, and a
shopping mall. The contract terms include the completion of all of the structural,
architectural, and electromechanical aspects. Altogether, the project generated
more than 182,000 square meters of built-up real estate in Iraq.
5. 3. Alsunbula Stadium – Al Diwaniyah, Iraq
Completed in 2015, Alsunbula Stadium, its training area, and parking spaces span
roughly 250,000 square meters. The facility accommodates 30,000 patrons in the
stadium, along with 75 rooms in a four-star hotel. In addition, the project features
space for retail and landscaping.
6. 4. Adana Integrated Health Campus – Adana, Turkey
An agreement finalized in 2013 on the Adana Integrated Health Campus (AIHC) will
contribute to the goal of 30 new health care facilities instituted by the Ministry of
Health of Turkey. AIHC will feature centers for oncology and cardiology, as well as
pediatric and general hospital wings, among other accommodations.
7. 5. Adana Optimum Shopping Center – Adana, Turkey
Built in the quickly growing Yuregir district, Adana Optimum Shopping Center
opened in 2011 and features a variety of retail and entertainment venues. The
structure includes a hypermarket, 25 restaurants, and a 10-theatre cinema. In
addition, Adana Optimum offers parking for 1,200 vehicles.
8. 6. Istanbul Optimum Shopping Center – Istanbul, Turkey
The Instanbul Optimum is a large shopping mall that has operated since 2008. With
a total of five floors, the structure features retail space for leading brands, a
technomarket, and a construction market. A 541-square-meter ice rink stands out
among its many features.
9. 7. Sanliurfa Piazza Shopping Center – Sanliurfa, Turkey
Rönesans has pursued a number of projects under the “Piazza” brand, and this is
third one. The property, which opened in 2013, features more than 43,000 square
feet of gross rentable real estate. Easily accessible, the Sanliurfa Piazza is a
valuable retail destination located just outside of the downtown area.
10. 8. Kahramanmaras Piazza Shopping Center – Kahramanmaras, Turkey
Opened in 2013, the Kahramanmaras Piazza is a shopping and fitness center.
Situated near Kahramanmaras downtown, the project features retail space for
medium- and upper-medium income groups. Along with stores and markets, the
Piazza features a cinema hall.
11. 9. Sanko Park Shopping Center – Gaziantep, Turkey
Sanko Park Shopping Center, which is the largest mall in the region, covers more
than 126,000 square meters. A hypermarket, movie theatre, and an ice rink
headline the attractions that have caught the attention of patrons from Turkey, Iraq,
and Syria.
12. 10. Bodrum Yalikavak Hotel – Bodrum, Turkey
The Bodrum Yalikavak hotel project spans more than 21 acres and consists of 93
guest rooms spanning three blocks. An array of complementary facilities includes
restaurants, fitness areas, and a ballroom. Bodrum guests all enjoy a view of the
nearby sea.
13. 11. Neva Mansions – Ankara, Turkey
Rönesans finished this residential project in 2009. The Neva Mansions cover 12
blocks of land and feature 90 homes, ranging from 180-395 square meters in size.
Designed by a team of international architects, the residences feature the latest in
materials and building practices.
14. 12. Izmir Extanion – Izmir, Turkey
The Izmir Extnanion is another “Optimum” brand project. Based in the Gaziemer
district of Izmir, the property sits between the Adnan Menderes Airport and the city
center. The Izmir Optimum carpark houses 1,572 vehicles.
15. 13. TED Rönesans College – Istanbul, Turkey
TED Rönesans College is the result of a collaboration between the Turkish
Educational Association (TED), the Renaissance Educational Foundation, and
Rönesans Holding. The institution, which opened in 2014, has a capacity for 1,200
students. TED Rönesans College led the way as the first private school in Turkey to
obtain LEED Gold Certificate for its sustainable design.
