This document compares the 12-hour clock and 24-hour clock systems. The 12-hour clock divides the day into two periods: a.m. from midnight to noon and p.m. from noon to midnight. The 24-hour clock runs from 00:00 to 23:59 without needing a.m. or p.m. designations, and is sometimes called the military clock.
