The network plays a critical role in establishing a consistent and high quality user experience. The network must provide more than basic connectivity; it must transform to become a strategic business asset. Similar to a television, radio or telephone, we expect technology to just work and deliver a great experience. For instance, if the network or technology does not allow us to share our experience socially, we are left with a negative perception; the expectation for what constitutes a great experience is different for each person. It is up to IT to keep up and deliver excellent experiences. Our solution is TRULY integrated for both wired and wireless. Deployable for private and public cloud environments. Align with mega trends shaping the market: Cloud, Mobile and of Couse with Isaac, Social as well.
Until recently, that kind of good design had primarily been found in consumer-facing apps. Great Network design rely on getting users hooked on the product. It’s not good enough any more for enterprise apps to work—they need a great user experience as well. Lacking that, there’s probably an alternative tool that’s easier to use and gets the same business results. Application Analytics intelligence provides IT with the visibility and control of applications and websites (including related sub-web sites) resident in all parts of the network, from the wired or wireless edge all the way through the core and datacenter, as well as application traffic from the Enterprise to the private Cloud, public Cloud or any service on the internet.
Network and Application Response Time Management – Provides network performance versus applications performance.
Proactive Security and Compliance – Provides IT with the ability to monitor and restrict application usage and website access based on specific parameters. For example, a known web browser version that poses security risks could be restricted.
Contextual Information with Depth and Granularity – Associate additional contextual information such as who, what, where, when and how with any application.
ExtremeAnalytics provides us with a global view of the overall health of the network from a single pane of glass. It’s the first stop in the troubleshooting process when network issues are discovered and it enables us to pinpoint issues and drill down to a specific closet or client for fast resolution. It is the industry’s very first and only – patent pending – solution to transform the Network into a Strategic Business Asset – by enabling the mining of network-based business events and strategic information that help business leaders make faster and more effective decisions. It does this all from a centralized command control center that combines Network Management with Business Analytics, and at unprecedented scale (100M sessions) and scope.

Control and Security - A constant risk to the network, and ultimately XYZ Account, are unapproved applications and rogue devices that may appear on the network and either permit unauthorized access or interfere with other devices. A means to monitor all devices and applications that operate across the network is vital. Just as important are the audit and reporting capabilities necessary to report on who, what, where, when, and how XYZ Account data is accessed. Our centralized management system will leverage data in the network to understand application use.
Maintaining high quality user experience (Single-Pane-of-Glass Control from BYOD to the Data Center).
Minimizing risk from consumer products and mobile devices (automation of routine tasks).
Identifying root-cause of service outage (Make decisions about your network based on analytics, not assumptions.).
Business alignment - Over time, the proliferation of devices has created unnecessary complexity. Control Center delivers centralized visibility and granular control of network resources. One click can equal a thousand actions when you manage your network. Control Center can even manage beyond Extreme Networks switching, routing, and wireless hardware to deliver standards-based control of other vendors’ network equipment.
Transform complex network data into actionable information (Gain visibility from data in your network).
Centralize and simplify the definition, management, and enforcement of policies (Detect anomalies and get alerts based on real network behavior).
Manage third-party devices to provide a complete picture of the entire infrastructure in a heterogeneous network environment (Balance CapEx and OpEx and decrease complexity).
Three fundamental building blocks for Data Center Network Automation Solution:
Orchestration (OpenStack, vRealize-NSX, DCM)
Overlay (VXLAN, NVGRE..)
Underlay (traditional L2/L3 protocols, OSPF, MLAG etc…)

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered

Bram Verhoef, Head of Machine Learning at Axelera AI, presents the “How Axelera AI Uses Digital Compute-in-memory to Deliver Fast and Energy-efficient Computer Vision” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
As artificial intelligence inference transitions from cloud environments to edge locations, computer vision applications achieve heightened responsiveness, reliability and privacy. This migration, however, introduces the challenge of operating within the stringent confines of resource constraints typical at the edge, including small form factors, low energy budgets and diminished memory and computational capacities. Axelera AI addresses these challenges through an innovative approach of performing digital computations within memory itself. This technique facilitates the realization of high-performance, energy-efficient and cost-effective computer vision capabilities at the thin and thick edge, extending the frontier of what is achievable with current technologies.
In this presentation, Verhoef unveils his company’s pioneering chip technology and demonstrates its capacity to deliver exceptional frames-per-second performance across a range of standard computer vision networks typical of applications in security, surveillance and the industrial sector. This shows that advanced computer vision can be accessible and efficient, even at the very edge of our technological ecosystem.

[OReilly Superstream] Occupy the Space: A grassroots guide to engineering (an...Jason Yip
The typical problem in product engineering is not bad strategy, so much as “no strategy”. This leads to confusion, lack of motivation, and incoherent action. The next time you look for a strategy and find an empty space, instead of waiting for it to be filled, I will show you how to fill it in yourself. If you’re wrong, it forces a correction. If you’re right, it helps create focus. I’ll share how I’ve approached this in the past, both what works and lessons for what didn’t work so well.
