Mumbai: The Bombay
High Court set aside a
tribunal’s order of
“contributory negli-
gence” by a biker in a
fatal accident that oc-
curred in 2009, where-
in he collided with a
stationary tempo on a
highway. The court
held that the tempo
driver was solely re-

him to keep his vehi-

During proceedings
on October 18, Justice

said, “The Rule (109 of

and rear parking lights
shall remain lit when
the vehicle is kept sta-

no such parking lights
were put on the offend-
ing tempo. And so liabil-
ity of contributory ac-
cident cannot be fas-

light of the motorcycle.”
The HC said the ap-
pellant was entitled to
30% of future prospects
as the age of the biker
was 46 years and he
was in government ser-
vice. It gave the family
additional compensa-
tion of over Rs25 lakh,
including Rs15,000 for
funeral and transporta-
tion expenses.

s the Men in Blue take on
England in the T20 World
Cup Semi-Finals, Suryaku-
mar Yadav will be the focus
of all attention. In India’s
star-studded batting line-up,
Yadav has suddenly become
a superstar, despite the pres-
ence of heavyweights like
Virat Kohli and Rohit Shar-
ma. Over the past year, Surya
has emerged as the most
threatening striker for all
bowlers. His red-hot form
and amazing stroke-play
have made Surya the top bat-
ter in ICC T20I rankings and
Team India’s go-to player at
the ongoing T20 World Cup.
Though fans and experts
who saw him batting in his
early days were sure that
Surya would shine, his crick-
eting journey has been no
smooth sailing. He had to
wait till he was over 30 to play
for Team India, despite his
obvious talent and magnifi-
cent performances in IPL
and domestic cricket. Ig-
nored by selectors for years,
Surya has admitted that he
would often wonder what
was needed to be done for se-
lection into the national
squad. Despite the doubts,
his determination never wa-
vered, and he kept piling
runs in style, thus silencing
the doubters and breaking
down selection doors.
Once picked, Surya made
an immediate impact for
Team India early last year. In
his very first innings in the
blue jersey against England,
Yadav began aggressively,
hooking the first ball from
Jofra Archer for six! In just
31 balls, he got to his first
half-century that was stud-
ded with three huge sixes
and six fours. That blistering
knock on debut against an
England attack, comprising a
fit Jofra Archer and super-
pacy Mark Wood, showcased
Surya’s exceptional talent.
Since that impressive in-
ternational debut, Sky (as
he’s fondly called) has made
rapid strides. In 39 T20 inter-
nationals he has played so
far, Surya has scored 1270
runs at an average of 42.33
with a fabulous strike rate of
179.63. In 2022 alone, he has
smashed 1026 runs in 28 T20I
innings at a strike rate of
186.54, making all applaud
his great form!
Though numbers speak
loudly, it is his aggressive
style and attitude that make
Surya stand out as a remark-
able batter. Not only has SKY
got all the shots in the book
but also has yen for some au-
dacious ones too, making bat-
ting look easy. Besides his
stroke-play, what makes him
an amazing batsman is the
exceptional consistency of
scoring and that too at a
scorching pace. In fact,
Surya’s 360-degree game has
often reminded fans and ex-
perts of South Africa’s leg-
endary great, AB de Villiers.
His solid performances all
through 2022 have helped
Surya peak at the World Cup
where his journey so far has
been bordering on exquisite
as well fantastic. Notching up
225 runs with three fifties, he
displayed his class with the
highest score of 68 against a
world-class South African
pace attack on the bouncy
Perth pitch. That superlative
knock is being rated as one of
the finest in the history of
T20 World Cups and former
IndianopenerGautamGamb-
hir has called it ‘the best T20
innings ever by an Indian.’
In his latest knock against
Zimbabwe, Surya again hit 61
off just 25 deliveries. The
power-packed innings also
made him only the second
batter in the history of T20I
cricket after Pakistan’s Mo-
hammad Rizwan to score
over 1000 runs in a calendar
year. In the World Cup games
so far, Surya has hit 25 bound-
aries and 8 sixes in the 116
balls he has faced – and is
currently averaging a mas-
sive 75 runs at a strike rate of
over 193!!
Ahead of the semi-final
clash in Adelaide, Surya’s
fabulous record against Eng-
land is worth underlining.
Ever since he made his T20I
debut against them last year,
Surya has displayed a special
liking for the English attack.
In six T20Is against England,
SKY has amassed 260 runs at
an average of 52 and a strike
rate of 195.48. His only T20I
century was also a brilliant
effort where Sky decimated
everyone in the England at-
tack with equal ease.

form and if he can play at his

At an event in Madhya Pradesh’s

minister apologised to citizens
for the poor quality of a stretch

state governments must follow
for ensuring good quality of
state highways and city roads.
His gesture showed that he was
open to criticism and willing to

. Leave alone an apolo-

His recent praise for former

it to submit its report

IN THE
COURTYARD
New Delhi (PTI): A
meeting of the BJP cen-
tral election committee
got underway here
Wednesday evening to
finalise the party’s can-
didates for the assem-
bly polls in Gujarat,
where the party is eye-
ing a victory for a sev-
enth consecutive time.
PM Narendra Modi,
Union Home Minister
Amit Shah, Gujarat CM
Bhupendra Patel, BJP
president JP Nadda and
other top leaders attend-
ed the meeting at party
headquarters here.
Polling will be held in
two phases in Gujarat
on December 1 and 5.
The saffron party is
likely to finalise all 182
candidates during the
meeting and announce
their names in the next
few days, sources said.
Aiming to set a new
record in terms of the
number of seats won,
the BJP is looking to in-
ject new energy into the
organisation. Hence,
the possibility of drop-
ping several senior lead-
ers from the list of can-
didates cannot be ruled
out, the sources said.
They also said the
party has received sug-
gestions that it should
opt for new and young
faces.
Pune (PTI): There are
2.49 lakh voters aged
above 100 in India,
Chief Election Com-
missioner Rajiv Kumar
said on Wednesday
.
Besides, 1.80 crore
voters are over 80 years,
Kumar said after flag-
ging off a bicycle rally
in Maharashtra’s Pune
city on Wednesday to
create an awareness
about voter registration
as part of the national
level launch of a special
summary revision of
the voters’ list. The EC’s
initiative is aimed at in-
creasing the electoral
rolls in urban areas.
Explaining the ro-
bustness and beauty of
the Indian electoral
rolls, Kumar said the
country has voters from
the highest peaks of
Himalayas, from the
6,000-km coastline in
south, deserts in the
west and regions from
the east. “You will be
happy to know we have
close to 2.49 lakh voters
in our rolls who are
(aged) 100 plus and what
a relief and ecstasy it
gives when you interact
with them and find that
they have been voting
all through their lives,”
he said.
The CEC said India’s
first voter Shyam Saran
Negi, who recently
died, was 106 years old
and voted through post-
al ballot just three days
before his death.
Kumar said the sum-
mary revision takes
place every year, but
this year they are doing
a very focused activity
and starting it all over
the country from Pune
with a specific purpose
to increase the partici-
pation of citizens from
urban areas.
“What does it mean?
Everywhere in the
country and the far-
thest possible states, be
it hills, coastal lines,
everywhere, inaccessi-
ble terrains, deserts,
everywhere every sin-
gle citizen gets enlisted
as a voter and strength-
ens the democracy by
not only getting regis-
tered but also casting
his/her vote,” CEC Ra-
jiv Kumar said.
“Metal road connectivity to every
village in 5 years if BJP re-elected”
New Delhi (PTI): Un-
ion Minister Anurag
Thakur has said the
next BJP government
in Himachal Pradesh
will connect every vil-
lage in the state with
metal roads in five
years and improve ba-
sic infrastructure at pil-
grimage centres.
Addressing election
rallies in Ghumarvi,
Jhanduta and Sadar as-
sembly constituencies
in Bilaspur district,
Thakur said the BJP
will implement ‘Project
Shakti’ in the state over
the next 10 years to im-
prove transport infra-
structure.
He said Rs 12,000
crore will be spent over
the next 10 years to im-
prove transport and ba-
sic infrastructure near
pilgrimage centres and
temples in the state.
In a bid to strengthen
the health infrastruc-
ture, the number of mo-
bile clinic vans will be
doubled in every assem-
bly constituency to en-
sure that people in far-
flung places get access
to medical facilities.
Thakur said the
“double engine” gov-
ernment in Himachal
Pradesh has built 12,000
km long rural roads in
the last eight years and
the state was also con-
nected to the national
capital with the modern
Vande Bharat train.

AAP WANTS NARODA PATIYA TO MOVE ON
BUT SCARS OF 2002 RIOTS REMAIN
Ahmedabad (PTI): Twenty-one years after the Gujarat ri-
ots, wounds of Naroda Patiya have turned to scar tissue,
still visible, often painful and reminder of a communal
divide still to be bridged. But life has to go on and focus
should be on “community neutral” issues such as price
rise, says AAP MLA hopeful Omprakash Tiwari. Hoping
to win over the people of Naroda Patiya, on the outskirts
of Ahmedabad that came to be associated with the 2002
riots, and the assembly polls next month, Tiwari said he
would like religion to be left aside and for people to come
together to vote for change. “We have forgotten what
happened here 20 years ago. India is a religious country
and everyone has freedom to practise the religion of their
choice,” Tiwari told PTI. “But we have to first address the
issues of unemployment, price rise and lack of affordable
education for all,” he added when asked if the riots that
followed the Godhra train burning were an issue in the
constituency that has been voting for the BJP since 1990.

Their statements
come at a time when the central Parliament Board of BJP has

leaders of our party have written separate letters to state unit
party president C R Paatil, saying they do not want to fight

between the Congress and the BJP every assembly election since 1982. Himachal CM Jairam

New York (Agencies): Fa-
cebook parent Meta is lay-
ing off 11,000 people, about
13% of its workforce, as it
contends with faltering
revenue and broader tech
industry woes, CEO Mark
Zuckerberg said in a letter
to employees on Wednes-
day
.
The job cuts come just a
week after widespread lay-
offs at Twitter under its
new owner, billionaire
Elon Musk.
There have been numer-
ous job cuts at other tech
companies that hired rap-
idly during the pandemic.
Zuckerberg as well said
that he had made the deci-
sion to hire aggressively,
anticipating rapid growth
even after the pandemic
ended.
“Unfortunately, this did
not play out the way I ex-
pected,” Zuckerberg said in
a prepared statement.
“Not only has online
commerce returned to pri-
or trends, but the macroe-
conomic downturn, in-
creased competition, and
ads signal loss have caused
our revenue to be much
lower than I’d expected. I
got this wrong, and I take
responsibility for that.”
Meta, like other social
media companies, enjoyed
a financial boost during the
pandemic lockdown era be-
cause more people stayed
home and scrolled on their
phones and computers.
But as the lockdowns
ended and people started
going outside again, reve-
nue growth began to falter.
An economic slowdown
and a grim outlook for on-
line advertising — by far
Meta’s biggest revenue
source — have contributed
to Meta’s woes.
This summer, Meta post-
ed its first quarterly reve-
nue decline in history, fol-
lowed by another, bigger
decline in the fall.
Some of the pain is com-
pany-specific, while some
is tied to broader economic
and technological forces.
Last week, Twitter laid
off about half of its 7,500
employees, part of a cha-
otic overhaul as Musk took
the helm.
He tweeted that there
was no choice but to cut the
jobs “when the company is
losing over $4M/day,”
though did not provide de-
tails about the losses.

Sensex, Nifty close lower on
selloffinpower,metalstocks
Mumbai (PTI): Equity
benchmarks Sensex and
Nifty gave up early gains
to close in the red on
Wednesday after a selloff
in power, metal and con-
sumer durable stocks
amid a weak trend in glob-
al equities.
However, a rally in the
rupee against the US dol-
lar and unabated foreign
capital inflows helped the
indices restrict the losses,
traders said.
In a largely range-bound
session, the 30-share BSE
Sensex ended 151.60 points
or 0.25% lower at 61,033.55.
The index witnessed high
volatility towards the fag-
end and recorded an intra-
day high of 61,447.23 and a
low of 60,905.15.
On similar lines, the
broader NSE Nifty fell
45.80 points or 0.25% to
end at 18,157.
PowerGrid was the big-
gest loser in the Sensex
pack, slipping 4.06%, fol-
lowed by Tech Mahindra,
Sun Pharma, Bajaj Fin-
serv, NTPC and MM. In
contrast, ITC, Dr Reddy’s,
Kotak Mahindra Bank, In-
dusInd Bank and HCL
Tech were among the gain-
ers, climbing up to 1.99%.
Framework for
sovereign green
bonds to match
global standards
New Delhi (PTI): The Fi-
nance Ministry has final-
ised the framework to issue
sovereign green bonds in
line with global standards.
The government intends
to mobilise `16,000 crore
from the issuance of green
bonds during the second
half of the current finan-
cial year. It is a part of the
borrowing programme for
the second half of this fis-
cal. The framework is
ready and it would be ap-
proved soon, the sources
said. These rupee-denomi-
nated papers will have long
tenure to suit the require-
ment of green infrastruc-
ture projects, they added.
Agri Ministry okays setting up
100 fodder-centric FPOs
New Delhi (PTI): The gov-
ernment has finally desig-
nated National Dairy De-
velopment Board (NDDB)
as the implementing agen-
cy for setting up of 100
fodder-centric Farmer Pro-
ducer Organisations
(FPOs) during this fiscal to
address the fodder deficit
situation in the country
.
The Ministry of Fisher-
ies, Animal Husbandry
and Dairying in 2020 had
proposed the establish-
ment of fodder-centric
FPOs and requested the ag-
riculture ministry to allow
such FPOs under the cen-
tral scheme “Formation
and Promotion of 10,000
new FPOs”.
The proposal was con-
sidered seriously and the
agriculture ministry fi-
nally issued an order on
November 4.
NDDB has been assigned
to form 100 FPOs during
2022-23 within the contours
of the scheme guidelines, it
added.
RUPEE GAINS 45 PAISE TO CLOSE AT
81.47 AGAINST US DOLLAR
Mumbai (PTI): The rupee appreciated by 45 paise to
close at 81.47 (provisional) against the US dollar on
Wednesday amid fall in crude oil prices,
dollar weakness and sustained foreign
fund inflows. At the interbank foreign
exchange market, the local unit opened
at 81.43, and witnessed an intra-day
high of Rs 81.23 and low of Rs 81.62
during the session. The local unit finally
settled at 81.47 against the American currency, register-
ing a rise of 45 paise over its previous close.

z So are you going to
form the government
in Himachal again?
JP Nadda: Yes, we are
goingtoformthegovern-
ment and there are a few
reasons for that. Firstly
,
the love Modiji has
shown towards
Himachal. Secondly
, the
work culture that he has
introduced in the gov-
ernments. Thirdly
, the
mainstreaming of
Himachal done by him,
so the people of
Himachal are eager to
support him and as a ‘si-
lent worker’ Jairam has
brought the works till
the grass roots, so I can
see it. And more than
anything, I can see that
the people are upbeat. I
visited a place today and
I am telling you a fact,
BJP could never have
hoped for such an amaz-
ing rally
. There was a
crowd of more than
12,000 people and even
though I was an hour
late, there was immense
excitement in the rally
and in all rallies of the
BJP
. The crowd is re-
sponsive and people step
forward to work for the
party
, so I think that we
areinacomfortablesitu-
ation.
z So what do you
think about the num-
ber of seats you will
win since you had 44
seats last time?
I won’t be able to ana-
lyse that right now, I will
need a few days for that
exercise, but I can say
that we are comfortable.
z We have an astrolo-
ger Dr Kumar Ganesh,
who has predicted that
BJP will get 45 and
Congress would get 21
seats and two are oth-
ers. So these others
would be AAP
, since
there is no other
...
No,AAPwillnotgettrac-
tion here and their secu-
rity will be forfeited.
Theyarecontestingon67
seats and their security
will be forfeited on 67
seats.TheirUttarakhand
Chief Minister candi-
date has joined BJP and
is campaigning for us in
Uttarakhandandherein
Himachal, their Party
President has joined us.
z So what are the
main issues on which
you are contesting
elections? Modiji’s
face and govern-
ment’s works?
Yes. Development, stabil-
ity and empowerment of
the Himachali people.
We have done good work
in health and education
and now is the time to
consolidate and empow-
erpeopleandthatiswhat
we have been doing.
z Amit Shah said
that Uniform Civil
Code will be enforced.
Does it have any rele-
vance or impact in
Himachal?
Definitely
. Our thought
has been that we follow
Sabka Sath, Sabka Vi-
kas, Sabka Vishwas, but
justice to all and ap-
peasement to none.
Moreover,inastateorin
a nation, as citizens, we
have to shoulder our col-
lective responsibilities
and for that, uniformity
is needed and that is our
agenda. The nation does
not become strong just
like that, everyone has
tohaveanequalpartner-
ship in the nation. And
how will that equal part-
nership come into be-
ing? When there is Uni-
form Civil Code.
z And what about
giving employment to
eight lakh people?
See, what has happened
is that a new trend has
started. I will give eight
lakh government jobs, I
willgivetenlakhgovern-
ment jobs. Tejashwi had
saidinBihar.Whatisthe
distinction between BJP
and other parties? We
said that we will give
eight lakh employment
opportunities, and they
said they will give eight
lakh jobs. The difference
is of giving away ‘Re-
vadies’.Wewillempower
people which will give
them opportunities. Let
me give you an example.
They said they will give
eight lakh jobs. I have
grown tired of telling
people this: show me one
Cabinet note in Inde-
pendent India that says
anygovernmentwillgive
this many number of
jobs. This is not how jobs
are created, no one can
just give jobs. After all,
who will you give these
jobs, where will you give
them and how will you
give them, these are few
things that have to be
specified in the cabinet
note. This is administra-
tion and not a shop,
whereyoucanrunthings
as you please. I want a se-
rious discussion on this
issue and it is a serious
matter.Howisanotepre-
pared? That Himachal
Pradesh has been pro-
videda‘BulkDrugPark,’
whichwillbeestablished
in Una. The Cabinet de-
cides that it will be set up
atUnaandtheStateGov-
ernment has to provide
so many acres of land. In
that land so many clus-
terswillbedevelopedand
aninvestmentof Rs2,000
crore will come, which
will provide an employ-
ment of let’s say 1.5 lakh
direct employment and
1.5 lakh indirect employ-
ment. So, we are saying
that we are giving job op-
portunities. This is the
difference. They have
made fools out of the un-
employed, and what else
have they done? No one
hopes for anything from
them,neitherdotheyun-
derstand anything. They
may say what they want
to since they just know
theyneedtomakeclaims
and not follow on word.
You pick up our mani-
festo.WewillprovideCy-
cles to girl child and
Scooties to families pur-
suing higher education,
the beneficiaries of
which will be to the tune
of eight lakh and the
amount incurred will be
Rs 500 crore. So, we have
taken due diligence in
this and we have taken
care of where we will
bring this Rs 500 crore
from. We know this
amount will not be uti-
lisedinonedayandsowe
will execute the plan in
instalment and make ar-
rangements accordingly
.
So, if you look at our en-
tire manifesto, you will
know we have taken due
diligence. What happens
in politics is that parties
want to handle affairs
like fast food (immediate
results). That is not how
things actually work.
What has happened to-
day is that people of
Himachal know that
BJP’smanifestoisacred-
ible manifesto and they
willdeliverwhattheyare
promising and have giv-
en what they have not
said but when Congress
party presents some-
thing, then the person
who has written the
manifesto hasn’t read,
and the one who has
read, hasn’t written it.
z Is that why you
said that Congress
does not apply its
own manifesto?
Yes, they don’t. You see
for yourself that they do
not have any point of
their manifesto in their
speeches. Why is it so?
Because, neither are
they serious, but they
treat it like just an event
since the party has to
takeoutmanifesto.They
put this and that into it.
z Now you are invest-
ing in tourism and
bringing medical col-
leges also?
Yes and we have decided
on the districts as well. I
consider myself to be
extremely lucky since
there was just one Medi-
cal College in Himachal
Pradesh and that too in
Shimla. After that, I be-
came the Health Minis-
ter of the State and I
madetheTandaMedical
College and I was fortu-
nate enough that I could
make the most planned
hospital building of
North India. I feel ex-
tremely happy about it.
By God’s grace, I got
Modiji’s blessings I
became nation’s Health
Minister and then we
opened a ‘ C a n -
cer Centre’ in Shimla,
TandaandMandi,super
speciality block in
ChamiyanaworthRs270
crore, which had 7 super
speciality wings. Then,
we opened Medical Col-
legesinMandi,Chamba,
Hamirpur and Sirmour.
We gave a ‘Satellite Cen-
tre’ to PGI. There is a
tradition in PGI that
when Chandigarh was
set up, some part of the
services were given to
Punjab also thus, a
‘PGI Centre’ was opened
inFirozpurandone‘Sat-
ellite Centre’ was given
to Una. And with Modi-
ji’s blessings, we gave
AIIMS to Himachal and
it was established in Bi-
laspur. Five years ago,
Modiji had come to lay
the foundation stone for
AIIMS on Ashtami and
now after five years, he
dedicated AIIMS to pub-
liconVijayadashmi,and
this 5 year period also
saw 2 years of Corona
pandemic. I took at least
15-20 review meetings.
This is why
, I say that
these Congress leaders
don’t know the ‘
A’ of ad-
ministration. They just
ran governments with-
out any inkling to do so.
They don’t know about
the minute details.
z BJP has prepared
another manifesto
for women empower-
ment?
Yes we have. See half of
Himachal’s population
arewomenandtheyhave
been ignored for a long
time. Modiji empowered
them a lot through PM
Awas Yojana, Saubhag-
ya Yojana, and others
liketoiletsineveryhome.
Women lived for 70 years
without dignity of life.
Could you imagine 12
crore families in the na-
tion lived without toilets
and no one ever thought
about them? Modiji gave
themrespectandempow-
ered them through Awas
Yojana. In Himachal, the
number of such families
was over one lakh which
means two lakh children
usedtogoouttodefecate.
This was a question of
dignity
. When I used to
visit villages, I could
come across people with
disabilities and when I
used to ask about their
injuries they would say
theywenttocollectwood
andfellduetowhichthey
sustained these prob-
lems.Today
,Modijiintro-
duced Ujjawala Yojana
andJairamjigaveSugra-
hini Yojana. No family
today is exempted from-
gas connection. Then we
gave free cylinders as to
thepooraswell.Afterall,
they too will celebrate
Diwali, Holi Lohri.
Pradhan Mantri Matrit-
va Suraksha Yojana,
which was Modiji’s con-
cept, under which all
pregnant women would
undergo free medical
checkup on the 9th of
each month. They would
getallinoculations,their
blood pressure, diabetes
and other parameters
would be checked every
month. When the deliv-
ery time nears, the Asha
worker would be respon-
sible to take her to the
institutionforwhichfree
transportation would be
given. If during delivery
any complication takes
place, the government
would bear the expenses
and then she would be
shifted back to home and
ontopof that,theywould
be given Rs 6,000, we de-
cided on that. Then the
Himachal Government
decided to provide Rs
25,000, additionally
, for
the new born child, so
that they can be given a
better care. So, this is
how we are empowering
them. But the problem is
that Congress leaders
can even understand
this, because to serve is
not on their agenda, but
they only want to collect
the votes. Hence, they
givepopulistslogansand
move on.
z There are also talks
about OPS...
We also talk about OPS.
Look, who gave OROP?
Butwhocreatedthemost
ruckus... Congress. 35
years went by and they
couldn’t give two paise.
First, there was due dili-
gence and talks at vari-
ous levels and then a
committee was formed
andalthoughittookalit-
tle time, but Modiji en-
suredprovidingRs60,000
crore to our soldier
brethren. Tell me who
ended OPS? It was Man-
mohan Singh govern-
ment and now they are
saying things about it.
So, neither were they
learned then, nor are
they now. BJP speaks on
thisissueonlywhenthey
have conducted due dili-
gence over the matter.
z Ashok Gehlot has
said about giving
OPS in Rajasthan...
But they are not going to
do so in Rajasthan. I be-
lieve, he stressed on giv-
ingfivelakhgovernment
jobs and they have given
18,000.HehadgivenRs2,
500 as employment ex-
pense to the youth and
Rs 1,500 to women. So,
when you do not have to
give, then it is merely
about giving populist
slogans, so you can say
as much you want.
z What about faction-
alism in BJP and re-
bels here?
See,wetrytoensurethat
everyone is on the same
page and we make an ef-
forttopacifythem.First-
ly
, they have rebelled
means that BJP is in the
winning position and
hence, they want to con-
testbecausetheywantto
win. We did try to talk to
them. But what happens
is that in Himachal, the
voters are extremely
vigilant and alert and
theycasttheirvotetopo-
litical parties and as the
date for election comes
near, it becomes clear
which party is going to
win, so, the voters don’t
misuse their franchise.
Yes, people talk about re-
bels, but after a few days,
these rebels also end
their rebellion and their
supporters also return
to the party
.
z But people talk
about Nadda Group,
Dhumal Group and
Jairam Group....
I can tell you there is no
Nadda Group because it
is not in my habit to do
so. I have never asked
anyone to place posters
for me, or raise slogans
for me or engage in wall
writing for me. So, there
is no Nadda Group. Now,
theothernamesthatyou
took,letmetellyouthese
are not groups or fac-
tions, there is no
groupism here. There
may be difference of
opinion, but we talk on
issues and resolve them.
See, we gave so many
tickets, but can any one
say that there has been
factionalism or prefer-
ence in ticket distribu-
tion. No ne can say that
because everyone’s con-
sent has been taken. Had
there been groupism,
you would have said so
many tickets given to
thisgroupandthismany
to that group, but no one
can say that.

KILLER SKIRTS:
KILLER SKIRTS:
SKIRTS HAVE DOMINATED 2022 MORE THAN ANY OTHER TREND THIS YEAR AND
IT’S NOT HARD TO SEE WHY LITERALLY. CITY FIRST BRINGS TO YOU SOME
ALLURING PIECE OF FASHION, THAT WILL ENHANCE YOUR WARDROBE.
kirts are a
wardrobe
need since
they are ef-
fortlessly
fashiona-
ble, appro-
priate for every oc-
casion, and quite com-
fortable. A fashion
trend that appears to
be somewhat popular
is the short skirt. It
is a playful and flir-
tatious style. This
short skirt, which
is worn on the
hips and barely
reaches the backside, has a
really wild and quirky ap-
pearance while still being
quite intriguing and fashion-
able. A short skirt is a highly
feminine item of clothing,
making it ideal for a fun
night out on the town.
The short skirt is just as
fashionable today as it was
20 years ago since it is avail-
able in so many different
styles and materials. Teen-
agers and young ladies, es-
pecially those with good
legs and a shapely physique,
look best in the short skirt.
A short skirt is popular
among ladies who visit
clubs. Even though dancing
in a short skirt might be en-
tertaining, it also draws at-
tention, particularly from
the other sex. You may have
noticed celebrities sporting
one of the newest trends: a
very short skirt. To see how
the skirt will look before
you buy it, you can view it
online or try it on.
When wearing short
skirts, pairing them with
semi-opaque matching
stockings gives you a more
put-together appearance;
sheer, skin-coloured, and
patterned hose call atten-
tion unnecessarily to the
legs. Consider using col-
oured stripes that will go
with anything. Alternative-
ly, choose plain skirts in the
neutral hues of your colour
scheme; this will give you
the freedom to combine all
the hues that go well with
you. You’ll probably find
that they match a lot of what
you currently own. The flap-
per wore sheer, flesh-col-
oured stockings below the
skirt that she coiled and
twisted to hold them in place
without garters.
It takes skill to wear a
skirt effectively, and like any
other art, there is joy in hon-
ing your skills.

WORKS OF ART!
WORKS OF ART!
ndia and Culture are
almost synonymous
with each other. It
wouldn’tbesurprising
to say that, the global
identity of India stays
strong as a culturally
rich country for centuries.
While the country is celebrat-
ing and “meme-ing” about the
Indian-origin Prime minister
of the UK, Indian-origin Chick-
en Tikka Masala has been the
national dish of the UK for cen-
turies now.
Yoga has spurred the growth
of ventures serving alternate
products like equipment, apps,
camps, or training in schools.
Additionally, June 21 is cele-
brated as International Yoga
Day across the globe. While tra-
ditional cultural practices
might be far-fetched from gen Z,
the turmeric latte viz Haldi
Doodh, is quite fancied in the
global café chains. The epics of
Indian mythology like Rama-
yana and Mahabharata have
been adapted by many south-
east Asian countries as a part
of performing arts, theatre, lit-
erature, etc. For centuries, In-
dia has been eminent and one
of the finest centres of handi-
crafts in the world.
Everyday items are crafted
tenderly
, in an artistic manner.
All of this adds to the cultural
capital of our country
. This
capital not only brings in mon-
etary inflow but also brings to-
gether communities while cel-
ebrating inclusions. Cultural
capital plays a pivotal role in
influencing a nation-brand val-
ue and alternatively, its soft
power Cultural capital can be
bifurcated into two forms, one
is tangible and the other is in-
tangible.
Tangible cultural capital in-
volves creative artworks such
as sculptures, handicrafts,
paintings, architectural build-
ings, etc. Intangible consists of
artwork that exists
in its pure form as
a public good, like
music, dance, etc.
Cultural ameni-
ties play a critical
role in driving the
success of grow-
ing cities or clus-
tered suburbs by
enabling social
interaction and
harmony, which
encourages inno-
vation and fur-
ther leads to de-
velopment. A
flourishing cul-
turaleconomyisa
driver of econom-
ic growth, as in-
fusing commer-
cial value into
cultural goods
and services and
experiences leads
to revenue genera-
tion. According to the Creative
Economy Outlook report by
UNCTAD, India is the fifth larg-
est exporter in the global art
and craft sector. This sector not
only employs the local people
butalsoearnsforeignexchange
for the country
. The State, of
Rajasthan, houses about 6 lakh
craftsmen and artisans. In the
year 2020-21, Handicrafts worth
Rs.6205.32croreswereexported
from the State; besides this,
Gem Jewellery worth Rs.
4067.36 crores, Textiles worth
Rs. 5729.29 crores, Readymade
Garments worth Rs. 1764.40
crores and Carpet/Dari worth
Rs. 464.70 crores were also ex-
ported. As the world is sur-
rounded by machine-made
items, the uniqueness of artis-
tic work would encourage
greater demand in the coming
future. Which would provide
greatereconomicopportunities
for creative individu-
als and practitioners.
Regional handicraft
products are the tradi-
tional wealth that has
been practised for gen-
erations. This indige-
nous creative skill can
be leveraged and encouraged to
add to economic development.
Leveraging these creative
skills, not only encourages cre-
ativity but also enhances the
sense of identity in the commu-
nity, solving the migration
problem. Jaipur Rugs from

ple of adapting cultural re-

In India’s star-studded batting line-up, Yadav has suddenly become a superstar, despite the pres- ence of heavyweights like Virat Kohli and Rohit Shar- ma. Over the past year, Surya has emerged as the most threatening striker for all bowlers. His red-hot form and amazing stroke-play have made Surya the top bat- ter in ICC T20I rankings and Team India’s go-to player at the ongoing T20 World Cup. Though fans and experts who saw him batting in his early days were sure that Surya would shine, his crick- eting journey has been no smooth sailing. He had to wait till he was over 30 to play for Team India, despite his obvious talent and magnifi- cent performances in IPL and domestic cricket. Ig- nored by selectors for years, Surya has admitted that he would often wonder what was needed to be done for se- lection into the national squad. Despite the doubts, his determination never wa- vered, and he kept piling runs in style, thus silencing the doubters and breaking down selection doors. Once picked, Surya made an immediate impact for Team India early last year. In his very first innings in the blue jersey against England, Yadav began aggressively, hooking the first ball from Jofra Archer for six! In just 31 balls, he got to his first half-century that was stud- ded with three huge sixes and six fours. That blistering knock on debut against an England attack, comprising a fit Jofra Archer and super- pacy Mark Wood, showcased Surya’s exceptional talent. Since that impressive in- ternational debut, Sky (as he’s fondly called) has made rapid strides. In 39 T20 inter- nationals he has played so far, Surya has scored 1270 runs at an average of 42.33 with a fabulous strike rate of 179.63. In 2022 alone, he has smashed 1026 runs in 28 T20I innings at a strike rate of 186.54, making all applaud his great form! Though numbers speak loudly, it is his aggressive style and attitude that make Surya stand out as a remark- able batter. Not only has SKY got all the shots in the book but also has yen for some au- dacious ones too, making bat- ting look easy. Besides his stroke-play, what makes him an amazing batsman is the exceptional consistency of scoring and that too at a scorching pace. In fact, Surya’s 360-degree game has often reminded fans and ex- perts of South Africa’s leg- endary great, AB de Villiers. His solid performances all through 2022 have helped Surya peak at the World Cup where his journey so far has been bordering on exquisite as well fantastic. Notching up 225 runs with three fifties, he displayed his class with the highest score of 68 against a world-class South African pace attack on the bouncy Perth pitch. That superlative knock is being rated as one of the finest in the history of T20 World Cups and former IndianopenerGautamGamb- hir has called it ‘the best T20 innings ever by an Indian.’ In his latest knock against Zimbabwe, Surya again hit 61 off just 25 deliveries. The power-packed innings also made him only the second batter in the history of T20I cricket after Pakistan’s Mo- hammad Rizwan to score over 1000 runs in a calendar year. In the World Cup games so far, Surya has hit 25 bound- aries and 8 sixes in the 116 balls he has faced – and is currently averaging a mas- sive 75 runs at a strike rate of over 193!! Ahead of the semi-final clash in Adelaide, Surya’s fabulous record against Eng- land is worth underlining. Ever since he made his T20I debut against them last year, Surya has displayed a special liking for the English attack. In six T20Is against England, SKY has amassed 260 runs at an average of 52 and a strike rate of 195.48. His only T20I century was also a brilliant effort where Sky decimated everyone in the England at- tack with equal ease. AweekafterSuryareached No.1 ranking in T20 interna- tionals, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will hope that his most in-form batter will con- tinue to thrive in the knock- out games. For Team India to lift the trophy that’s eluded them since 2007, it is critical that Surya maintains his form and if he can play at his best, the soaring hopes of In- dian fans could see a happy fulfillment. As he redefines T20 batting by matching the lofty standards set by AB de Villiers, Surya may just be the trump card Team India needs to crown itself to glory . It is an example which state governments must follow for ensuring good quality of state highways and city roads. His gesture showed that he was open to criticism and willing to say sorry . Leave alone an apolo- gy, no minister ever admits to a mistake. Gadkari too could have instituted an inquiry before or- dering a new contract. His recent praise for former Prime Minister Manmohan Sin- gh also showed his class and ma- turity . Praising the contribution made by a former Congress PM deserves all-round appreciation. MAHINDRA TIES UP WITH 3 ELECTRIC VEHICLE INFRA PLAYERS FOR CHARGING SOLUTIONS COAL INDIA LIMITED SHARES CLIMB OVER 2 PER CENT New York (Agencies): Fa- cebook parent Meta is lay- ing off 11,000 people, about 13% of its workforce, as it contends with faltering revenue and broader tech industry woes, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a letter to employees on Wednes- day . The job cuts come just a week after widespread lay- offs at Twitter under its new owner, billionaire Elon Musk. There have been numer- ous job cuts at other tech companies that hired rap- idly during the pandemic. Zuckerberg as well said that he had made the deci- sion to hire aggressively, anticipating rapid growth even after the pandemic ended. “Unfortunately, this did not play out the way I ex- pected,” Zuckerberg said in a prepared statement. “Not only has online commerce returned to pri- or trends, but the macroe- conomic downturn, in- creased competition, and ads signal loss have caused our revenue to be much lower than I’d expected. I got this wrong, and I take responsibility for that.” Meta, like other social media companies, enjoyed a financial boost during the pandemic lockdown era be- cause more people stayed home and scrolled on their phones and computers. But as the lockdowns ended and people started going outside again, reve- nue growth began to falter. An economic slowdown and a grim outlook for on- line advertising — by far Meta’s biggest revenue source — have contributed to Meta’s woes. This summer, Meta post- ed its first quarterly reve- nue decline in history, fol- lowed by another, bigger decline in the fall. Some of the pain is com- pany-specific, while some is tied to broader economic and technological forces. Last week, Twitter laid off about half of its 7,500 employees, part of a cha- otic overhaul as Musk took the helm. He tweeted that there was no choice but to cut the jobs “when the company is losing over $4M/day,” though did not provide de- tails about the losses. Sensex, Nifty close lower on selloffinpower, metalstocks Mumbai (PTI): Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty gave up early gains to close in the red on Wednesday after a selloff in power, metal and con- sumer durable stocks amid a weak trend in glob- al equities. However, a rally in the rupee against the US dol- lar and unabated foreign capital inflows helped the indices restrict the losses, traders said. In a largely range-bound session, the 30-share BSE Sensex ended 151.60 points or 0.25% lower at 61,033.55. The index witnessed high volatility towards the fag- end and recorded an intra- day high of 61,447.23 and a low of 60,905.15. Agri Ministry okays setting up 100 fodder-centric FPOs New Delhi (PTI): The gov- ernment has finally desig- nated National Dairy De- velopment Board (NDDB) as the implementing agen- cy for setting up of 100 fodder-centric Farmer Pro- ducer Organisations (FPOs) during this fiscal to address the fodder deficit situation in the country . The Ministry of Fisher- ies, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in 2020 had proposed the establish- ment of fodder-centric FPOs and requested the ag- riculture ministry to allow such FPOs under the cen- tral scheme “Formation and Promotion of 10,000 new FPOs”. JP Nadda: Yes, we are goingtoformthegovern- ment and there are a few reasons for that. Firstly , the love Modiji has shown towards Himachal. Secondly , the work culture that he has introduced in the gov- ernments. Thirdly , the mainstreaming of Himachal done by him, so the people of Himachal are eager to support him and as a ‘si- lent worker’ Jairam has brought the works till the grass roots, so I can see it. And more than anything, I can see that the people are upbeat. I visited a place today and I am telling you a fact, BJP could never have hoped for such an amaz- ing rally . There was a crowd of more than 12,000 people and even though I was an hour late, there was immense excitement in the rally and in all rallies of the BJP . The crowd is re- sponsive and people step forward to work for the party , so I think that we areinacomfortablesitu- ation. z So what do you think about the num- ber of seats you will win since you had 44 seats last time? I won’t be able to ana- lyse that right now, I will need a few days for that exercise, but I can say that we are comfortable. z We have an astrolo- ger Dr Kumar Ganesh, who has predicted that BJP will get 45 and Congress would get 21 seats and two are oth- ers. So these others would be AAP , since there is no other ... No,AAPwillnotgettrac- tion here and their secu- rity will be forfeited. Theyarecontestingon67 seats and their security will be forfeited on 67 seats.TheirUttarakhand Chief Minister candi- date has joined BJP and is campaigning for us in Uttarakhandandherein Himachal, their Party President has joined us. z So what are the main issues on which you are contesting elections? Modiji’s face and govern- ment’s works? Yes. Development, stabil- ity and empowerment of the Himachali people. We have done good work in health and education and now is the time to consolidate and empow- erpeopleandthatiswhat we have been doing. z Amit Shah said that Uniform Civil Code will be enforced. Does it have any rele- vance or impact in Himachal? Definitely . Our thought has been that we follow Sabka Sath, Sabka Vi- kas, Sabka Vishwas, but justice to all and ap- peasement to none. Moreover, inastateorin a nation, as citizens, we have to shoulder our col- lective responsibilities and for that, uniformity is needed and that is our agenda. The nation does not become strong just like that, everyone has tohaveanequalpartner- ship in the nation. And how will that equal part- nership come into be- ing? When there is Uni- form Civil Code. z And what about giving employment to eight lakh people? See, what has happened is that a new trend has started. I will give eight lakh government jobs, I willgivetenlakhgovern- ment jobs. Tejashwi had saidinBihar.Whatisthe distinction between BJP and other parties? We said that we will give eight lakh employment opportunities, and they said they will give eight lakh jobs. The difference is of giving away ‘Re- vadies’.Wewillempower people which will give them opportunities. Let me give you an example. They said they will give eight lakh jobs. I have grown tired of telling people this: show me one Cabinet note in Inde- pendent India that says anygovernmentwillgive this many number of jobs. This is not how jobs are created, no one can just give jobs. After all, who will you give these jobs, where will you give them and how will you give them, these are few things that have to be specified in the cabinet note. This is administra- tion and not a shop, whereyoucanrunthings as you please. I want a se- rious discussion on this issue and it is a serious matter.Howisanotepre- pared? That Himachal Pradesh has been pro- videda‘BulkDrugPark,’ whichwillbeestablished in Una. The Cabinet de- cides that it will be set up atUnaandtheStateGov- ernment has to provide so many acres of land. In that land so many clus- terswillbedevelopedand aninvestmentof Rs2,000 crore will come, which will provide an employ- ment of let’s say 1.5 lakh direct employment and 1.5 lakh indirect employ- ment. So, we are saying that we are giving job op- portunities. This is the difference. They have made fools out of the un- employed, and what else have they done? No one hopes for anything from them,neitherdotheyun- derstand anything. They may say what they want to since they just know theyneedtomakeclaims and not follow on word. You pick up our mani- festo.WewillprovideCy- cles to girl child and Scooties to families pur- suing higher education, the beneficiaries of which will be to the tune of eight lakh and the amount incurred will be Rs 500 crore. So, we have taken due diligence in this and we have taken care of where we will bring this Rs 500 crore from. We know this amount will not be uti- lisedinonedayandsowe will execute the plan in instalment and make ar- rangements accordingly . So, if you look at our en- tire manifesto, you will know we have taken due diligence. What happens in politics is that parties want to handle affairs like fast food (immediate results). That is not how things actually work. What has happened to- day is that people of Himachal know that BJP’smanifestoisacred- ible manifesto and they willdeliverwhattheyare promising and have giv- en what they have not said but when Congress party presents some- thing, then the person who has written the manifesto hasn’t read, and the one who has read, hasn’t written it. z Is that why you said that Congress does not apply its own manifesto? Yes, they don’t. You see for yourself that they do not have any point of their manifesto in their speeches. Why is it so? Because, neither are they serious, but they treat it like just an event since the party has to takeoutmanifesto. They put this and that into it. z Now you are invest- ing in tourism and bringing medical col- leges also? Yes and we have decided on the districts as well. I consider myself to be extremely lucky since there was just one Medi- cal College in Himachal Pradesh and that too in Shimla. After that, I be- came the Health Minis- ter of the State and I madetheTandaMedical College and I was fortu- nate enough that I could make the most planned hospital building of North India. I feel ex- tremely happy about it. By God’s grace, I got Modiji’s blessings I became nation’s Health Minister and then we opened a ‘ C a n - cer Centre’ in Shimla, TandaandMandi, super speciality block in ChamiyanaworthRs270 crore, which had 7 super speciality wings. Then, we opened Medical Col- legesinMandi,Chamba, Hamirpur and Sirmour. We gave a ‘Satellite Cen- tre’ to PGI. There is a tradition in PGI that when Chandigarh was set up, some part of the services were given to Punjab also thus, a ‘PGI Centre’ was opened inFirozpurandone‘Sat- ellite Centre’ was given to Una. And with Modi- ji’s blessings, we gave AIIMS to Himachal and it was established in Bi- laspur. Five years ago, Modiji had come to lay the foundation stone for AIIMS on Ashtami and now after five years, he dedicated AIIMS to pub- liconVijayadashmi, and this 5 year period also saw 2 years of Corona pandemic. I took at least 15-20 review meetings. This is why , I say that these Congress leaders don’t know the ‘ A’ of ad- ministration. They just ran governments with- out any inkling to do so. They don’t know about the minute details. z BJP has prepared another manifesto for women empower- ment? Yes we have. See half of Himachal’s population arewomenandtheyhave been ignored for a long time. Modiji empowered them a lot through PM Awas Yojana, Saubhag- ya Yojana, and others liketoiletsineveryhome. Women lived for 70 years without dignity of life. Could you imagine 12 crore families in the na- tion lived without toilets and no one ever thought about them? Modiji gave themrespectandempow- ered them through Awas Yojana. In Himachal, the number of such families was over one lakh which means two lakh children usedtogoouttodefecate. This was a question of dignity . When I used to visit villages, I could come across people with disabilities and when I used to ask about their injuries they would say theywenttocollectwood andfellduetowhichthey sustained these prob- lems.Today ,Modijiintro- duced Ujjawala Yojana andJairamjigaveSugra- hini Yojana. No family today is exempted from- gas connection. Then we gave free cylinders as to thepooraswell.Afterall, they too will celebrate Diwali, Holi Lohri. Pradhan Mantri Matrit- va Suraksha Yojana, which was Modiji’s con- cept, under which all pregnant women would undergo free medical checkup on the 9th of each month. They would getallinoculations, their blood pressure, diabetes and other parameters would be checked every month. When the deliv- ery time nears, the Asha worker would be respon- sible to take her to the institutionforwhichfree transportation would be given. If during delivery any complication takes place, the government would bear the expenses and then she would be shifted back to home and ontopof that, theywould be given Rs 6,000, we de- cided on that. Then the Himachal Government decided to provide Rs 25,000, additionally , for the new born child, so that they can be given a better care. So, this is how we are empowering them. But the problem is that Congress leaders can even understand this, because to serve is not on their agenda, but they only want to collect the votes. Hence, they givepopulistslogansand move on. z There are also talks about OPS... We also talk about OPS. Look, who gave OROP? Butwhocreatedthemost ruckus... Congress. 35 years went by and they couldn’t give two paise. First, there was due dili- gence and talks at vari- ous levels and then a committee was formed andalthoughittookalit- tle time, but Modiji en- suredprovidingRs60,000 crore to our soldier brethren. Tell me who ended OPS? It was Man- mohan Singh govern- ment and now they are saying things about it. So, neither were they learned then, nor are they now. BJP speaks on thisissueonlywhenthey have conducted due dili- gence over the matter. z Ashok Gehlot has said about giving OPS in Rajasthan... But they are not going to do so in Rajasthan. I be- lieve, he stressed on giv- ingfivelakhgovernment jobs and they have given 18,000.HehadgivenRs2, 500 as employment ex- pense to the youth and Rs 1,500 to women. So, when you do not have to give, then it is merely about giving populist slogans, so you can say as much you want. z What about faction- alism in BJP and re- bels here? See,wetrytoensurethat everyone is on the same page and we make an ef- forttopacifythem.First- ly , they have rebelled means that BJP is in the winning position and hence, they want to con- testbecausetheywantto win. We did try to talk to them. But what happens is that in Himachal, the voters are extremely vigilant and alert and theycasttheirvotetopo- litical parties and as the date for election comes near, it becomes clear which party is going to win, so, the voters don’t misuse their franchise. Yes, people talk about re- bels, but after a few days, these rebels also end their rebellion and their supporters also return to the party . z But people talk about Nadda Group, Dhumal Group and Jairam Group.... I can tell you there is no Nadda Group because it is not in my habit to do so. I have never asked anyone to place posters for me, or raise slogans for me or engage in wall writing for me. So, there is no Nadda Group. Now, theothernamesthatyou took, letmetellyouthese are not groups or fac- tions, there is no groupism here. There may be difference of opinion, but we talk on issues and resolve them. See, we gave so many tickets, but can any one say that there has been factionalism or prefer- ence in ticket distribu- tion. No ne can say that because everyone’s con- sent has been taken. Had there been groupism, you would have said so many tickets given to thisgroupandthismany to that group, but no one can say that. BJP’s National President JP Nadda talks to DrJagdeeshChandra,CEOandEditor-in-Chief,Bharat24-VisionofNewIndiaandFirst India;CMD,FirstIndiaNewsand stresses that BJP will form government again, How the BJP will enforce Uniform Civil Code, how Congress has lost the plot due to its own inefficiency and how BJP takes due diligence in every step it takes. CITY FIRST BRINGS TO YOU SOME ALLURING PIECE OF FASHION, THAT WILL ENHANCE YOUR WARDROBE. kirts are a wardrobe need since they are ef- fortlessly fashiona- ble, appro- priate for every oc- casion, and quite com- fortable. A fashion trend that appears to be somewhat popular is the short skirt. It is a playful and flir- tatious style. This short skirt, which is worn on the hips and barely reaches the backside, has a really wild and quirky ap- pearance while still being quite intriguing and fashion- able. A short skirt is a highly feminine item of clothing, making it ideal for a fun night out on the town. The short skirt is just as fashionable today as it was 20 years ago since it is avail- able in so many different styles and materials. Teen- agers and young ladies, es- pecially those with good legs and a shapely physique, look best in the short skirt. A short skirt is popular among ladies who visit clubs. Even though dancing in a short skirt might be en- tertaining, it also draws at- tention, particularly from the other sex. You may have noticed celebrities sporting one of the newest trends: a very short skirt. To see how the skirt will look before you buy it, you can view it online or try it on. When wearing short skirts, pairing them with semi-opaque matching stockings gives you a more put-together appearance; sheer, skin-coloured, and patterned hose call atten- tion unnecessarily to the legs. Consider using col- oured stripes that will go with anything. Alternative- ly, choose plain skirts in the neutral hues of your colour scheme; this will give you the freedom to combine all the hues that go well with you. You’ll probably find that they match a lot of what you currently own. • 11. ndia and Culture are almost synonymous with each other. It wouldn’tbesurprising to say that, the global identity of India stays strong as a culturally rich country for centuries. While the country is celebrat- ing and “meme-ing” about the Indian-origin Prime minister of the UK, Indian-origin Chick- en Tikka Masala has been the national dish of the UK for cen- turies now. Yoga has spurred the growth of ventures serving alternate products like equipment, apps, camps, or training in schools. Additionally, June 21 is cele- brated as International Yoga Day across the globe. While tra- ditional cultural practices might be far-fetched from gen Z, the turmeric latte viz Haldi Doodh, is quite fancied in the global café chains. The epics of Indian mythology like Rama- yana and Mahabharata have been adapted by many south- east Asian countries as a part of performing arts, theatre, lit- erature, etc. For centuries, In- dia has been eminent and one of the finest centres of handi- crafts in the world. Everyday items are crafted tenderly , in an artistic manner. All of this adds to the cultural capital of our country . This capital not only brings in mon- etary inflow but also brings to- gether communities while cel- ebrating inclusions. Cultural capital plays a pivotal role in influencing a nation-brand val- ue and alternatively, its soft power Cultural capital can be bifurcated into two forms, one is tangible and the other is in- tangible. Tangible cultural capital in- volves creative artworks such as sculptures, handicrafts, paintings, architectural build- ings, etc. Intangible consists of artwork that exists in its pure form as a public good, like music, dance, etc. Cultural ameni- ties play a critical role in driving the success of grow- ing cities or clus- tered suburbs by enabling social interaction and harmony, which encourages inno- vation and fur- ther leads to de- velopment. A flourishing cul- turaleconomyisa driver of econom- ic growth, as in- fusing commer- cial value into cultural goods and services and experiences leads to revenue genera- tion. According to the Creative Economy Outlook report by UNCTAD, India is the fifth larg- est exporter in the global art and craft sector. This sector not only employs the local people butalsoearnsforeignexchange for the country . The State, of Rajasthan, houses about 6 lakh craftsmen and artisans. In the year 2020-21, Handicrafts worth Rs.6205.32croreswereexported from the State; besides this, Gem Jewellery worth Rs. 4067.36 crores, Textiles worth Rs. 5729.29 crores, Readymade Garments worth Rs. 1764.40 crores and Carpet/Dari worth Rs. 464.70 crores were also ex- ported. As the world is sur- rounded by machine-made items, the uniqueness of artis- tic work would encourage greater demand in the coming future. Which would provide greatereconomicopportunities for creative individu- als and practitioners. Regional handicraft products are the tradi- tional wealth that has been practised for gen- erations. This indige- nous creative skill can be leveraged and encouraged to add to economic development. Leveraging these creative skills, not only encourages cre- ativity but also enhances the sense of identity in the commu- nity, solving the migration problem.
