This study assessed the marginal and internal pre-cementation gap width of ceramic crowns made using two different in-office digital impression systems compared to conventionally made ceramic crowns. Digital impressions were taken of a prepared tooth using the Lava Chairside Oral Scanner and Cadent iTero systems. Ceramic crowns were then fabricated from these digital impressions as well as from conventional stone die models made from addition-cured silicone impressions. The mean marginal gap width of the conventionally made Empress crowns was significantly larger than the digitally made crowns, while the mean overall internal gap width of the Lava Oral crowns was significantly smaller than the other groups. The study concluded that ceramic crowns made using digital

Technique for Placement of Oxidized Titanium Implants by Oded BahatOded Bahat
This study evaluated 290 tapered, oxidized titanium implants placed in compromised bone in 126 patients over 3 years. The implants had a 99.3% survival rate after 3 years of loading. Marginal bone levels around the implants remained stable over the 3-year period. By using a customized osteotomy technique that minimized bone removal and tapered implants with an oxidized surface, the implants provided reliable support for fixed dental prostheses in grafted and ungrafted compromised bone.
horizontal stability of connective tissue graft: journal club on implant case...dr monica lamba
This document summarizes a journal club presentation on a study examining the horizontal stability of connective tissue grafts at the buccal aspect of single implants over 1 year. The study aimed to clinically evaluate the horizontal stability of connective tissue grafts and compare gingival thickness between thin and thick biotypes. Results found an absolute mean tissue gain of 0.97mm 1 year after grafting, with no significant difference between biotypes. The study concluded that connective tissue grafts can substantially thicken peri-implant mucosa with acceptable stability over 1 year.
Analysis of the gradient of sinus augmentation- histomorphometric studyssuser19a491
This study examined the gradient of new bone formation and residual graft particles at different distances from the sinus floor following maxillary sinus floor augmentation using either freeze-dried bone allografts (FDBA) or biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) bone substitute. Biopsies were taken from 26 sites in 13 patients at implant placement 9 months after sinus augmentation. Histomorphometric analysis found that the density of new bone decreased with increasing distance from the sinus floor for both graft materials. The percentage of new bone ranged from 31-27.7% near the floor to 23.5-27.7% further away. Residual graft particle area also decreased with distance from the floor. The results support that osteogenesis initi

This document describes a study that evaluated marginal periimplant tissue stability after buccal defect regeneration using porous titanium granules. Twenty patients received dental implants where buccal bone defects were present. Porous titanium granules were used to fill the defects. Clinical and radiographic evaluations were performed at 2, 4, and 6 months to assess gingival index, mucosal level, papilla index, probing depth, and bone levels/density. The results found stable clinical measurements except for minor changes in mucosal level and papilla at 4 months. Radiographic parameters showed insignificant bone level changes over time. The conclusion was that porous titanium granules can effectively augment osseous defects for dental implants.

Connective tissue graft associated or not with low laser therapy to treat gingival recession: randomized clinical trial, Fernandes-Dias SB, de Marco AC, Santamaria Junior M et al.
JCP 2015.
This document discusses periodontal regeneration and repair. It defines regeneration as the replacement of damaged tissues with new tissues that restore the original structure and function, while repair involves the reattachment of existing fibers and is inferior. True regeneration requires the formation of a new epithelial seal, connective tissue fibers inserted into the root, and new cementum and alveolar bone. However, complete regeneration may be difficult to achieve due to the complexity of biological factors involved. New approaches utilize scaffolds, growth factors, stem cells, and tissue engineering to help guide and stimulate regeneration. The future of regeneration may rely on combining technologies and biological concepts to attract cells needed for full regeneration.

This study evaluated the 5-year outcomes of surgical treatment of peri-implantitis using a bone substitute with or without a resorbable membrane. 38 patients with peri-implantitis were treated with either a bone substitute alone or with a membrane. At 5 years, clinical improvements from treatment were maintained, including reduced bleeding and probing depths. Radiographic bone fill increased by 1.1-1.3 mm with no significant difference between treatment groups. Strict post-surgical plaque control was important for successful treatment outcomes. The membrane did not provide additional benefit to bone fill.
This randomized controlled study compared clinical outcomes of flapless implant surgery to traditional flap implant placement. 24 patients received implants in the maxillary anterior or premolar region, with 12 receiving flapless implants and 12 receiving traditional flap implants. Both groups had high success rates of around 92% after 15 months. The flapless group had slightly higher plaque scores initially but scores were similar after 15 months. The flapless group experienced less loss of keratinized gingiva. While both groups reported satisfaction, the flapless approach may provide benefits such as reduced treatment time and discomfort. Larger studies are still needed to confirm these results.

Immediate implant placement following tooth extraction can help preserve alveolar bone and provide benefits like fewer treatment visits. However, it also carries risks like increased mucosal recession on the facial aspect due to normal bone resorption after extraction. For optimal esthetic outcomes with immediate implants, it is important to have adequate facial bone volume, perform bone grafting if needed, and consider the patient's gingival biotype and bone defect morphology. Careful case selection and experience with the technique are important to minimize esthetic complications.

immediate vs delayed implant placement in anterior single tooth extraction.rakhi chaudhry
This study compared immediate versus delayed dental implant placement in 124 patients requiring single tooth extractions. Immediate implants placed at the time of extraction required bone augmentation more often than implants placed 12 weeks later (72% vs 43.9%). Delayed implants were less likely to have wound failures and exhibited better soft tissue outcomes. Based on the need for more frequent bone grafting and poorer aesthetic results, the study concludes delayed implant placement may be preferable to immediate placement in the aesthetic zone.
This finite element analysis compared the stress distribution of two implant-supported prosthesis systems - one with implants placed in a straight line (straight system) and one with angled implants creating an offset (angled system). Both systems had three implants supporting a metal-ceramic prosthesis in the posterior mandible. Vertical and horizontal loads were applied. The results found that the peak stresses occurred at the neck of the mesial implant in the straight system and the distal implant in the angled system, but the values were similar between systems. There was no significant difference found in stress concentration between the two systems.
Immediate Implant Placement And Restoration With Natural Tooth In The Maxilla...Abu-Hussein Muhamad
Anterior tooth loss and restoration in the esthetic zone is a common challenge in dentistry today. The prominent visibility of the area can be especially distressing to the patient and requires a timely and esthetically pleasing solution. Immediate single-tooth implantation followed by immediate provisionalization is becoming an increasingly desirable treatment that offers numerous benefits over conventional delayed loading. Provisionalization for immediately-placed implants using the patient’s existing tooth can enhance the final aesthetic outcome if certain steps are
followed. If the natural tooth is intact and can be used as a provisional, the emergence profile can be very similar to the preoperative condition. This article outlines a technique to use the patient’s natural tooth after extraction to provisionalize an implant.

This study placed 2,261 implants in 467 patients using angled abutments ranging from 0 to 45 degrees. Over an average observation period of 28.8 months, the estimated 5-year survival rate was greater than 98.6%. Statistical analysis showed no significant difference in survival rates between implants with abutments angled 0-15 degrees and 20-45 degrees. Good esthetic and functional outcomes were observed.
This systematic review and meta-analysis investigated the rate of soft tissue complications following guided bone regeneration (GBR) for ridge augmentation. The overall weighted complication rate was 16.8% based on 15 studies included in the quantitative analysis. When considering membrane type, resorbable membranes had a weighted complication rate of 18.3% while nonresorbable membranes had a rate of 17.6%, indicating membrane type did not significantly affect the complication rate. Soft tissue lesions were reported from 1 week to 6 months post-operatively. The review concluded that soft tissue complications after GBR are common, occurring in around 16.8% of cases, and technique sensitivity in soft tissue management may be important to avoid complications and ensure bone regenerative
Treatment of gingival recession using coronally advanced flapShruti Maroo
This document describes a case study evaluating the efficacy of the coronally advanced flap technique for treating gingival recession. A 27-year old male patient presented with Miller's Class I gingival recession on teeth 22 and 23, along with sensitivity. The coronally advanced flap procedure was performed, involving incisions and elevation of a partial-thickness flap. One month and three months post-operatively, the patient showed uneventful healing and 100% root coverage, with reduction in sensitivity and no probing defects. The coronally advanced flap technique alone can successfully treat gingival recession when residual gingiva is thick and wide, resulting in good esthetic and functional outcomes.

1) The study analyzed the relationship between various prosthetic features and risk of peri-implantitis, based on clinical records of implant patients.
2) Key findings were that emergence profile angles over 30 degrees, convex emergence profiles, and implants splinted between adjacent implants (middle position) were associated with greater risk of peri-implantitis.
3) A predictive model suggested emergence angle, profile, and splinting position could help estimate peri-implantitis prevalence.
The document discusses the effects of radiation therapy on osseointegration and implant success. It describes how radiation can damage bone tissue by reducing vasculature, killing osteoblasts and osteocytes. This compromises implant anchorage, remodeling, and the body's response to infection or forces. Animal studies show reduced success rates with higher radiation doses. The risks and benefits of implant placement in irradiated sites are evaluated based on the location, radiation dose/method, and functional goals for the patient.
This document describes a new rectangular wiring fixation technique for genioplasty advancement procedures. It presents a case report of a 17-year old male who underwent genioplasty to advance a recessed chin. Instead of the typical two wires used for non-rigid fixation, a single long wire was passed through four holes - two in the mobile segment and two in the stable segment - to stabilize the advanced segment in a rectangular configuration. The technique provides stability with advantages of reduced operating time, cost, and instrumentation compared to other fixation methods.
Atrophied Edentulous Mandible with Implant-Supported Overdenture; A 10-year f...Abu-Hussein Muhamad
Abstract: Severe atrophy of the inferior alveolar process and underlying basal bone often results in problems with a lower denture. These problems include insufficient retention of the lower denture, intolerance to loading by the mucosa, pain, difficulties with eating and speech, loss of soft-tissue support, and altered facial appearance. These problems are a challenge for the prosthodontist and surgeon. In this case report, patient with resorbed edentulous mandible was successfully rehabilitated using two dental implants placed in the interforaminal region with ball abutments opposing conventional maxillary complete denture. Key Words: dental implants; dental prosthesis, implant-supported; resorption,
This document describes a technique for selectively intruding overerupted molars in adult patients using a combination of selective alveolar corticotomies and a modified full-coverage maxillary splint with nickel-titanium springs. Two case reports are presented where this approach successfully intruded overerupted maxillary molars within 2.5-4 months without side effects. The technique aims to take advantage of the regional acceleratory phenomenon caused by corticotomies to increase orthodontic treatment efficiency for adult patients who require molar intrusion.
This study analyzed the position and angulation of 300 maxillary central incisors using cone beam imaging to provide data to help clinicians achieve good esthetic results for immediate dental implants. The thickness of buccal and palatal bone and apical bone height were measured. Incisors were classified according to their position (buccal, midline, palatal) and angulation (toward buccal, anterior to A point, parallel to alveolus). Most incisors were positioned buccally. Recommendations for implant placement based on tooth classification aim to maintain adequate buccal bone thickness and prevent complications.
This study compared the anchorage provided by the Nance appliance (NA) and fixed frontal bite plane (FBP) during intra-arch distal molar movement over 6 months in 40 patients. Both groups experienced approximately 1.4-1.9mm of anterior movement of the maxillary central incisors, with no significant difference between groups. Distal molar movement was 1.7-1.8mm in both groups. The overbite decreased more in the FBP group. Neither appliance provided fully stable anchorage. A second treatment phase is recommended to correct anchorage loss after distal molar movement.

The study examined 38 patients who underwent mandibular setback surgery, distinguishing those with less than 5mm of setback from those with 5mm or more. The results found no significant changes in the submental region or aesthetics for patients with less than 5mm of setback. However, for patients with 5mm or more of setback, there were significant decreases in cervical length and changes to the lip-chin-throat angle, lower lip length, and upper lip length. The study suggests these factors should be considered in surgical planning to avoid undesirable aesthetic impacts of mandibular setback surgery.
This study evaluated the effect of maxillary advancement of less than 6 mm versus 6 mm or more on soft tissue changes in 53 patients treated for Class III malocclusion. For advancements under 6 mm, there were no significant changes in the nasolabial angle but significant changes in lip and chin positions. For advancements of 6 mm or more, submental and nasolabial soft tissues significantly improved, indicating better aesthetics. The degree of maxillary advancement significantly impacts soft tissue changes and should be considered in treatment planning.
This case series evaluated a protocol for selecting the implant diameter during immediate implant placement in fresh extraction sockets. 20 patients received immediate implants in the maxillary anterior region. Implant diameter was selected based on preoperative CBCT measurements to maintain a 3mm gap between the implant and buccal bone wall. Autogenous bone graft was used to fill the gap. Postoperative CBCTs found no significant changes in socket dimensions and minimal buccal bone resorption up to a mean follow up of 35 months, indicating the protocol helped preserve buccal bone stability.
This case report describes the successful treatment of a 59-year-old edentulous female patient with a two-implant overdenture. Two implants were placed in the mandible using a surgical guide. After osseointegration was confirmed, ball abutments were attached to the implants and connected to an overdenture with O-rings. The patient was able to eat with the new prosthesis. Follow-ups showed good outcomes with minor gingivitis resolved with education. The report concludes two-implant overdentures provide an affordable option for edentulous patients.

Overall life span (LS) was 1671.7±1721.6 days and cumulative 5YS reached 62.4%, 10 years – 50.4%, 20 years – 44.6%. 94 LCP lived more than 5 years without cancer (LS=2958.6±1723.6 days), 22 – more than 10 years (LS=5571±1841.8 days). 67 LCP died because of LC (LS=471.9±344 days). AT significantly improved 5YS (68% vs. 53.7%) (P=0.028 by log-rank test). Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: N0-N12, T3-4, blood cell circuit, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells-CC and blood cells subpopulations), LC cell dynamics, recalcification time, heparin tolerance, prothrombin index, protein, AT, procedure type (P=0.000-0.031). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and N0-12 (rank=1), thrombocytes/CC (rank=2), segmented neutrophils/CC (3), eosinophils/CC (4), erythrocytes/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), stick neutrophils/CC (8), leucocytes/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (error=0.000; area under ROC curve=1.0).

8 Surprising Reasons To Meditate 40 Minutes A Day That Can Change Your Life.pptxHolistified Wellness
We’re talking about Vedic Meditation, a form of meditation that has been around for at least 5,000 years. Back then, the people who lived in the Indus Valley, now known as India and Pakistan, practised meditation as a fundamental part of daily life. This knowledge that has given us yoga and Ayurveda, was known as Veda, hence the name Vedic. And though there are some written records, the practice has been passed down verbally from generation to generation.
