1. 100% Flava
It’s all ‘bout Crate-tivity
This is 100% Flava…it’s all about Crate-tivity. The concept was inspired by our
love of fashion, hip hop and the ambition to be entrepreneur. We thought it would
be a great idea that we give our store an identity that is unique from everyone so we
can stand out from the crowd; we brainstormed the idea with Thato a.k.a Chaysta
who made the graffiti.
We decided to graf an exotic jungle habitat mural. The idea was to fuse graffiti with
the milk crates, this creative thinking gave birth to Crate-tivity. In other words
meaning creativity, the graffiti illustrates women of colours pulling together by
balancing crates. Naturally women are the support system in our lives, so it made
sense that we graf women. Some are balancing crates on the head, some are
carrying them by hands. After painting the mural we drilled the crates into the
wall, the crates are storage display for Magents t-shirts, jeans and caps. The couch
made of denim compliments the merchandise in the crates
The idea behind 100% Flava as a store is to promote local designers and their
fashion, the concept is more or less like YDE but we focus on uplifting the designers
that are not given an opportunity to sell at department stores and chain retailers.
2. Flava serve as a boost for them as now they are exposed in an open market…the aim
is to crate a concept store for local designers.
The brands that we also stock are Abantu, Dennis (DM), C’susa, Cosmic Butterfly,
Zweto, Ernesto Delesto, Muti, Herbaliser and Thabani sandals…
100% FLAVA is located in Arcadia at the Kingsley center on Church and BeatriX,
this area is surrounded by tertiary institution and has a vibe of a mini CBD. Our
3. target markets are students and the working classes that want to be seen in trendy
gear within their social scene.
OUR VISION
As South Africa is celebrating the 10th
year of democracy, new opportunities for the
leaders of tomorrow are opening and we realize the importance of being uniquely
proudly South African. To be South African is not about race and the differences we
have amongst each other but to recognize one another as community of diverse
cultures under one roof. From this spirit of unification we should strive to revolve,
to progress forward in building a country that represents us a true South African.
100% FLAVA is a product of South Africa that aims to promote local fashion from
designers that are part and parcel of the diverse community. These designers are
innovative, creative and inspired by their surroundings and background. 100%
FLAVA is contributing to the growth of local fashion by creating a stage or
platform to showcases, market and trade their product in the open market with
other existing brands. Our vision is to convert fashion designers to entrepreneurs in
order to grow their own business that would contribute to the economy of our
country.
We also aim to develop a culture lifestyle through fashion from 100% FLAVA, in
near future plain host events that will incorporate music, art, poetry and fashion.
