There is nothing scary or stressful about Shakespeare once you learn the key to unlocking and understanding his use of language.  It is actually one of my favorite things about this play – the rich and complex use of language to convey ideas.  Throughout this unit, you will not only become comfortable understanding the language but also get a chance to bring Romeo and Juliet to the 21st century.  For some of you, this maybe your first experience with Shakespeare and I hope it is a great one. Be sure to publish it like a newspaper story.  <br />You may also record a news story after each act of the play. This will take serious commitment after class in terms of writing a script, staging a newsroom and recording your news report. For serious students with an interest in drama and journalism. <br />,[object Object],Publish series of blog entries as one of the characters in the play. Include your thoughts on the events in the play.  You must produce at least 10 entries of lengthy paragraphs.<br />For students with interest in writing and publishing.<br />,[object Object],Rewrite a monologue or dialogue from the text as a podcast.
