3. Research Title :
A Novel Approach for Forecasting Sustainable Power Evolution in Solar
and Wind Hybrid Grid Connected System
Summary and Broad Objectives of the Research Work
Based on the review of literature and the conclusions drawn from them, a broad
perspective was ascertained and also the broad objectives were presented below :
1. Development of Forecasting Methods for Wind & Solar Hybrid Generation
Parameters, which will be incorporated in Optimal Power Management.
2. Formulation and Solution for Variable Renewable Energy Power Management
Operation in a coordinated manner.
Details of Research Work
4. Course 1 Research Methodology 27/01/2021
Course 2 Wind and Solar Energy Systems 01/02/2021
Course 3 Energy Management and Energy Audit 29/01/2021
Subjects for the Course Work
5. Collected and Reviewed the Literature from reputed journals such as
IEEE, Elsevier, etc,. Preliminary data collection survey was done to
arrive at the tentative data collection parameters and started the
process. Parallel study of forecasting evaluation systems is being
carried out.

6. Solar PV Array Modeling
Solar panels are defined as a group of cells connected in parallel and series to
generate the required electrical power based on meteorological factors such as
solar radiation and temperature. The current model used to predict the output
power of a PV module can be expressed through the following (2) and (3):
PPV = PVSTC ( 𝐺/𝐺𝑟𝑒𝑓) (1 + 𝐾𝑇(𝑇𝐶 − 𝑇𝑟𝑒𝑓) ) ---- (2)
𝑇𝐶 = Ta+ (0.0256 * G) --- (3)
Where, PVSTC is the nominal power in (kW), G is the global solar radiation
(kW/m2), 𝐺𝑟𝑒𝑓 is the solar radiation under STC (1000/m2 ), TC is the temperature
of PV cell, 𝑇𝑟𝑒𝑓= 25 C°, 𝐾𝑇 is the PV temperature coefficient, 3.7*10−3 (1/Ċ)
and Ta is the surrounding temperature.

7. The wind is characterized by its speed and direction and is
affected by factors, such as geographic position, meteorological
factors and height above ground level. Wind turbine reacts to the
wind, capturing a part of its kinetic energy and switching it into
usable energy. The output power of wind turbine is determined as
a function of the rated wind speed (Vr), the cut-in wind speed
(Vci) and the cut-out wind speed (Vco)

8. Work to be Done
Based on the proposed problem statement, the data is analyzed
and the solution is arrived using a suitable optimization technique.
From the data analysis, a substantial power evolution will be
carried out incorporating power quality.
