Fairness
Equity of conditions
Ethical scholarship
When you take words that are not
yours without referencing, you are
breaching Academic Integrity.
When you closely paraphrase from
another source, or combination of
sources, without referencing, you
are breaching Academic Integrity.
When you deliberately stay away
from assessment to delay it, you are
breaching Academic Integrity.

Scholarship
Requires adherence to:
Assessment conditions
Academic standards
- Referencing and
appropriate citations
- Submission through
MYMTA
While AI is new, it doesn’t change the expectations
around Ethical Scholarship.
Plagiarism detection submission reports can spot
plagiarism breakdowns that reveal where AI has
been used, separate from the similarity reports.
Teachers are picking this up.
Teacher Checkpoints mean that teachers have a
good understanding of the style of students, and
AI plagiarism is often very clear.
Where there is evidence of plagiarism, College
staff will follow processes for breaches, including:
- Marking only the work that is not plagiarism
which could result in a fail grade
- Imposing a Friday afternoon Detention
- Notifying parents
11. Detection Software
The College has the capacity to detect as plagiarism work
that has been fed into an AI generative technology to
enhance communication, outside of the similarity report
that students
That means that if a student asks ChatGPT, GrammarlyGo
or Quilbot (or any other tool) to improve their written
work, the text generated by these AIs will be detected as
plagiarism if it is substituted as their own work without
acknowledgement.
Any work that is identified as ‘AI’ will not be marked and
your grade will be based only on evidence for your own
work. Students will complete a Friday afternoon detention
12. Un-Acceptable uses of
AI
Taking the words generated from an AI text, and passing them
off as your own for drafts or final submission tasks.
Replacing every fifth word from an AI text with your own, to
ensure authorship. not authentic.
Using AI only as the base text or point of truth, for comparison
and improvement purposes, and taking all ideas from this as a
single source.
Using AI without referencing
13. Acceptable Uses of AI
Generating a piece of writing to gather information about a
particular topic, as a starting point.
Generating a piece of writing to gather information about a
particular topic, to compare your response qualitatively with
another, for the purposes of self-feedback on possible
areas for improvement.
