This document is a summary of the first part of the Epic of Gilgamesh. It describes how the people of Uruk complained to the gods about King Gilgamesh and his oppressive behavior. The gods instructed the goddess Aruru to create Enkidu from clay to be a match for Gilgamesh. Enkidu lived in the wilderness with animals until a trapper's harlot seduced him, causing Enkidu to become humanized. This event was meant to temper Gilgamesh and bring peace to Uruk.
