3 And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk
in His Ways, to keep His Statutes, and His
Commandments, and His Judgments, and His
Testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that
thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and
whithersoever thou turnest thyself:
1 Kings 2 1 Now the days of
David drew nigh that he should
die; and he charged Solomon his
son, saying, 2 I go the way of all
the earth: be thou strong
therefore, and shew thyself a man;

4 That the LORD may continue His Word which He
spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take
heed to their way, to walk before Me in Truth with
all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not
fail thee (said He) a man on the throne of Israel.
From a biblical perspective, if we are to claim a
Promise, we must conform to the prerequisite.
God holds up His end of the bargain, are we?

4. 4
The Promises and Blessings of God come
with the conditions of faith and obedience.
To have faith in God is to obey His
Word, continuing to walk before Him in
Truth. Many people are trying to claim promises by
speaking words of faith,
But are not willing to live a life of faith.

Psalm 1 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in
the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way
of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the Law of the LORD; and in
His Law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of
water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his
leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth
shall prosper.
Prerequisites?
That man is
blessed.
I want to be that man!
6. 6
3 John 1 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that
thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy
soul prospereth.
The prerequisite here is that our soul must prosper.
Luke 1 46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify
the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my
Savior.
If one’s soul is barren, his life
will be barren.
Does that describe your soul?
7. 7
Psalm 103 1 Bless the
LORD, O my soul: and all
that is within me, bless His
Holy Name. 2 Bless the
LORD, O my soul, and forget
not all His benefits: 3 Who
forgiveth all thine iniquities;
Who healeth all thy diseases;
In verse 5, David continues to instruct Solomon as
to what he should do after David dies.
8. 8
5 Moreover thou knowest also
what Joab the son of Zeruiah
did to me, and what he did to
the two captains of the hosts
of Israel, unto Abner the son
of Ner, and unto Amasa the
son of Jether, whom he
slew, and shed the blood of
war in peace, and put the
blood of war upon his girdle
that was about his loins, and
in his shoes that were on his
feet.
9. 9
6 Do therefore according to thy
wisdom, and let not his hoar
head (gray head; old age) go
down to the grave in peace.
Joab had been a cunning
soldier all his life, but
He had not always been a
good and godly man.
His death would be justice.
10. 10
1 Kings 2 7 But shew kindness unto the sons of
Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that
eat at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled
because of Absalom thy brother.
Barzillai and his sons helped David when David
was troubled by Absalom’s rebellion.
David invited them to come to the palace in
Jerusalem and live with him.
11. 11
2 Sam 19:34 "No," he replied, "I am far too old for that.
35 I am eighty years old today, and life has lost its
excitement. Food and wine are no longer tasty, and
entertainment is not much fun; I would only be a
burden to my lord the king. 36 Just to go across the
river with you is all the honor I need! TLB
David not only remembered those who had
sinned, but also those who had done good.
He told Solomon to show kindness to them.
Then another who must receive justice:
12. 12
8 And, behold, thou hast with
thee Shimei the son of Gera, a
Benjamite of Bahurim, which
cursed me with a grievous
curse in the day when I went
to Mahanaim: but he came
down to meet me at Jordan, and I sware to him by
the LORD, saying, I will not put thee to death with
the sword. 9 Now therefore hold him not guiltless:
for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou
oughtest to do unto him; but his hoar head bring
thou down to the grave with blood.
13. 13
These men that David instructed Solomon to
execute were the ones most likely to cause trouble.
They had caused David trouble and would
cause Solomon trouble.
He needed to make the throne secure.
14. 14
10 So David slept with his fathers, and was buried
in the city of David. 11 And the days that David
reigned over Israel were forty years: seven years
reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years
reigned he in Jerusalem.
King David died after 40 years on
the throne of Israel.
Solomon is king in his stead.
15. 15
12 Then sat Solomon upon
the throne of David his
father; and his kingdom
was established greatly.
We will see that Solomon
obeyed his father and
secured his throne.
He took care of business.
16. 16
We must take care of business, if we would
have a church that will stand the test of time.
2 Corinthians 7 5 For, when we were come into
Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were
troubled on every side; without were
fightings, within were fears.
Churches have always been troubled
with fears and with fightings.
As are we!
17. 17
2 Corinthians 11 28 Beside those things that are
without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of
all the churches.
The devil has always fought against churches
that stand for God – His Truth and His Way.
He wants to destroy this church.
The devil and his henchmen want to see
God fail in this place.
18. 18
God is calling us today to fight
the good fight of faith.
That is the only way that we shall
stand as a church.
We must all live our lives in faith
through obedience to God.
19. 19
We must endure hardness
as soldiers of the cross.
1 Timothy 4:16 (NIV) Watch your life and doctrine
closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you
will save both yourself and your hearers.
As Paul told
Timothy:
Let us persevere!
