This document outlines the steps for writing an argumentative essay, including: reviewing the problem and proposed solution; outlining the plan; planning for counterarguments; evaluating alternative solutions; and conducting follow-up research. It provides guidance on anticipating objections, considering at least two alternative solutions, and writing paragraphs to evaluate each alternative solution on why the proposed solution is better. Students are assigned to write responses for slides on planning counterarguments, considering alternative solutions, and developing the evaluation of alternatives as part of their final essay.
